Great Story, Nice Voice, Too Much Swallowing
- By tinyturtle88 on 05-07-14
Publisher's Summary
Amy learned a lot in her babysitting course - but not what to do if two thugs show up, intent on kidnapping.
When Amy agreed to babysit little Kendra Edgerton, she had no idea she was stepping into a kidnapping plot. Armed with misinformation and a weapon, the two men force the girls out of the house and take them to a remote cabin in the woods. There they make videos of the girls and mail them to Kendra’s wealthy parents in an effort to get ransom money. After several of her escape attempts fail, Amy is forced to make one last, desperate move, sending clues to the police through the videos. But time is working against her.
In Stolen Children, award-winner Peg Kehret crafts a suspenseful thriller with a spunky, resourceful heroine.

Underwhelming and unrealistic
Absolutely every character in this book is written as an idiot with the exception of Amy who doesn’t act at all like a 14 year old would if they’d been kidnapped. The 3 year old is written with the language skills of a 1 year old, and the way that she is narrated is really hard to listen to. Yes kids has squeaky little voices, but they don’t sound like trolls.
The criminals in this book were beyond stupid and were openly discussing things in front of witnesses. So unbelievable.
Overall, the story was lacking, the characters were shallow, and the narration was pretty bad.

Smart teen vs dumb kidnappers
This was a good story. I liked the way Amy was able to think of ways to send clues to help the police find her and Kendra. The kidnappers were certainly not the smartest criminals out there. A good short story with a good ending.

light hearted and a good listen!
This was a good warm listen. The kidnappers were gormless and the baby sitter clever, giving clues to help the police find her and the toddler, while keeping the tot happy until found!
