Publisher's Summary
Book six in the Gaunt's Ghosts series
On a battlefield in the Sabbat Worlds, the struggling forces of the Imperial Guard are locked in a deadly stalemate with the dark armies of Chaos.
Listen to it because
Deadly trench battles and a mysterious house form the two threads of this epic story, along with the continuing feud within the regiment and the fallout from the shocking conclusion of the previous book in the series....
The story
On the battlefields of Aexe Cardinal, the stalwart forces of the Imperial Guard are locked in a deadly stalemate with the dark armies of Chaos. Colonel-Commissar Ibram Gaunt and his regiment, the Tanith First and Only, are thrown headlong into the living hell of trench warfare, where death by an unseen enemy is always just a moment away. The only chance for Gaunt and his lightly armed scouts to survive is to volunteer for a mission so dangerous that no one else dares accept it.

All Quiet
This is another quality addiction to the Gaunt’s Ghost story. Dan Abnett has a knack for taking familiar settings and putting them in the grim dark future of the 41 millennia while still doing something new. He did this expertly in Double Eagle and he does again here by taking our favorite men and women of the Emperor’s finest and places them in the hell of trench reminiscent of the Western front of WWI but with all off the futuristic horrors of the 40k universe. Toby Longworth once again delivers a stellar performance. Hopefully GW will continue to release the rest of the series because I’m a big fan of these audio books.

I love listening to the Gaunt's Ghosts series. I have them in physical and digital form and having them on audio is an inevitability.
This book is a great listen and a must, but I am anticipating Sabbat Martyr more and the Lost series.

Another great Gaunt’s Ghost Book
Straight silver is another great Ghosts story from Dan Abnett. This book does a great job of melding the horrors of the Great War’s trench warfare with the 40K universe.
The narrator does a fine job (though his voices for the various ghosts is not always my favorite).
If you’re a fan of the Sabbat Worlds crusade it’s another must read.

Characters really developed throughout the story after facing new and old challenges.
I'm desperate to read book 7 but I will wait for Toby Longworth's spectacular narration, it wouldn't be the same without it.
