Story
As a love slave, I know everything about women. How to touch them, how to savor them, and, most of all, how to pleasure them. But when I was summoned to fulfill Grace Alexander's sexual fantasies, I found the first woman in history who saw me as a man with a tormented past. She alone bothered to take me out of the bedroom and into the world. She taught me to love again. But I was not born to love. I was cursed to walk eternity alone.

Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Publisher's Summary
#1 New York Times bestselling author Sherrilyn Kenyon brings us back to the astonishing world of the Dark-Hunters in Stygian, with a hero misunderstood by many…but most of all by himself.
Born before man recorded time, I lived for thousands of years believing myself to be something I’m not.
Someone I’m not.
Lied to and betrayed by gods, Daimons, and Dark-Hunters, I’ve struggled to find my way in a world where I’ve been cursed since the moment I was prematurely ripped from my mother and planted into the womb of an innocent woman who thought me her son.
Trained as a slayer and predator, I learned to fit in and stay low. To become a tool for evil. Until I was sent to kill the one woman I couldn’t. My hesitation cost her her life.
Or so I thought. In an act of betrayal that makes all the others pale in comparison, I’ve learned that this world is an illusion and that my Phoebe still lives.
Now I will have to travel into the very pits of Hades to try and save her, even as everyone around me attempts to steal what little soul I have left. There’s only one person at my back and I’m not sure I can trust her either, for she was born of an enemy race. Yet sometimes the road to redemption is one that singes us to our very core. And if I fail to find the answers I need to save Phoebe, more than just my wife will die.
We will lose the world. Both human and Daimon.

A DISAPPOINTED FAN by C. EVANS
Prologue: I have waited so long for Urian's (Your-ree-ann) not Orion story only to be disappointed in the end.
Chapter 1- The Author
The first part of this book is great. Learning Urian's backstory was interesting, fun and sometimes tragic. Seeing his interaction with his siblings was hilarious and the relationship with his mother Helen was loving. The middle part of the book was a little disappointing, now I understand that there is a little cut and paste that needs to be done if the character is in the scenes. But this was way too much if you have read Archeron, Styxx or Falcyn's book then be prepared to either re- listen or fast forward. It didn't get any better in the last couple of chapters they took one of my favorite characters Phoebe and made her into a annoying whining b****! The only reason I got this book was because I was hoping for Uri and Phoebe to be reunited! Nothing against Xyn it's just that she and Uri as a couple are boring,! Plus there was no interaction between Uri and his bio parents (wasted opportunity by the way).
Chapter 2- The Narrator
Pros
nice voice
does male voices great
accents are okay
Cons
pronunciations needs work
women voices tend to sound shrilled and loud
women voices tend to sound the same
does the worst Simi in DH history
Epilogue
This book had the potential to be one of her greatest, but because of too much copying and pasting, rewriting favorite characters personalities, hooking up the wrong couples and not having Fred Berman as the narrator made it for me an epic fail! Let's hope the next book is better, fingers crossed!

Oh... my.... gawdz no! LOL!!
Everything was all fine and enjoying listening, until.......
What a great story. I loved love LOVE all the characters. The many twists are all fun and amazing to discover.
And then, W....T.... FUCK! lol His Simi performance. WHY? Why did he start doing this annoying high pitched grating noise? It began like two books ago that Mr. Graham doing that "version" of Simi's speech and voice. WHY? But this one here for this book he turned it up to a thousand. I hate to but there's no way I'm able to ignore or accept it. lol It is bad, very very bad. Pardon me but, I'd rather hear the reader from Stryker's book doing Simi. LOL!! Sorry. Everything else was fine though. If it were up to me I would rather Fred Berman narrate every single book that contains ancient warriors.
Again. The story itself is super duper amazing. Well worth the wait. I can confidently say that it is in my top five of the Dark-Hunter series overall. It's also somewhere in my top ten for all novels ever written. That I've read, of course. lol

styxx and other previous books regurgitated
I was disappointed that most of the book was cut and paste from other dark hunter novels. So much so that some chapters were word for word.
Although, the end was original writing it was also weak and so neatly wrapped up I feel cheated.
I am sad and happy to say this is the only book in the DH series I have not enjoyed.

Disapointed with some of the plot.
Couldn't quite wrap my head around Urian not being with Phoebe. As many references as they made about how much they loved each other it kind of rang false for him to jump back to an old love nobody has heard about until now. At least when he was growing up he was loved. Not as dysfunctional as Styxx or Acheron. But this story made me hate Phoebe when before I actually liked her as a character. She sounded petty and overall annoying. Was hoping for new material and not a rehashing of previous books. Already felt like I knew this story. Hopefully she takes a new turn for these characters. Feels like she just didn't know where to go with this one. A few of her later stories have felt this way.

Mixed Feelings — Contains Spoilers
Positives:
- Learned more about Urian’s past.
- Gave more insight into the mindset of the Daimons, and how many don’t feel evil for doing what it takes to survive.
- Liked his relationship with Sarraxyn, and throughout the book, hoped they would find each other again.
- Liked Davyn, whose character was explored in greater depth.
- Enjoyed more interaction involving Styxx and Bethany.
Negatives:
- Not enough interaction between Urian and his parents. He’s been separated from them for thousands of years. A few more pages devoted to that wouldn’t hurt, especially since ...
- As others have noted, there was way too much copy and paste from other recent books. I read somewhere that the author had been criticized at one point by people saying stories didn’t mesh together when she left pieces out, but I think the pendulum has swung too much in the opposite direction. It’s a big waste of the book’s real estate that could have been better used propelling his story or the arc forward. It would have been nice to learn more answers to the numerous dangling threads.
- I think Holter Graham is a very talented narrator, but using him for so many books in the same universe creates issues for me. His voice for Urian is the same as the voice used for Nick in CON. Also, many of the women’s voices in this book were inappropriately portrayed as shrill. That’s appropriate for his first wife, but not for Apollymi. Righteous godly anger should be portrayed as powerful, not whiny.
- On a related note, I never want to hear the phrase “unspeakably precious” ever again. SK overuses it in CON, and it showed up here, too.
Unlike some, I don’t consider Urian fickle to have had multiple loves over the course of 11,000 years. He did attempt to acquit himself honorably in his relationships. I think the use of hyperbole during sex makes him appear more disingenuous (e.g., saying he had *never* felt this way before when he’s with Phoebe, when he had obviously felt that much and more with Xyn).
It also doesn’t help that the timeline of the book took a pretty abrupt shift from ancient past to modern time. This makes it feel as if he’s falling in love with Phoebe right after losing Xyn.
Anyway, I am glad I listened to this, but hope the next books in the series have more original material. However, having read The Chronicles of Nick, I am afraid we won’t have answers to many of the outstanding questions until Nick/Ambrose has his Dark-Hunter book.

Absolute waste of a credit
IF you're like me, you've grown sick and tired of the copy paste books of the last few years, however, this one takes the cake.....A 26 hour book and only about 2-3 hours are original? And the copy/paste thing is so haphazard.....I've read every single book in all the series, and I was still lost as the story jumped around all over the place.
And Holter, OMG....what is wrong with him? "Ar-chon", not ArKan? Since when? He did that in the last book as well. He's done how many books now? And Simi.....he totally destroyed my admiration of him with her. It's excruciating to listen to!
I'm getting a refund on this one. I'm tired of paying for the same book over and over. She needs to end the series so we can all find out that Kissare is really Savitar and be done with it.

don't bother with this
I didn't have high expectations going into this book based on the last few the author has put out, but I was so disappointed with this.
It's more copy paste from previous books, and some of the back story could have been inserted into previous books so it wouldn't be so cumbersome.
I was so bored with the story I tuned out for two chapters and it was like I hadn't missed a thing.
The author's repetitive descriptions of things even had me thinking of better word choices and that was the highlight.
The narrator is actually a turn off to this book. The tone, reading, cadence, and pronunciation is atrocious. He puts pauses in awkward places, mens parts are either soft and feminine with mumbles or harsh like he's mimicing a tv wrestler. All of the lady voices he does are shrill and grating, no matter if they are supposed to be soft and intimate.
While I realize men doing female voices is difficult for men, this rendition is stomach churning awful.
This is my last book from this author, and it's a shame because her earlier work was so much more interesting.

So Disappointed
I couldn't wait for this story to come out. I should have saved the credit.
First, it spend a lot of time on the back story of the gods and goddesses. It became confusing with all the hatred, connections and back stabbing. Second, the first 10-15? chapters were about Orion from birth to current. 11,000 years of life (boring). Third, if you read her previous books in the series then be ready for some serious deja vu. Familiar scenes from Styxx, Achoron and the last 3 dragon stories (cut and paste is not your friend in this). I had to skip a few chapters because of it.
Overall impression...Did not like. Way too long . With it being 26 hours long, it took me 3 days to power thru. It Orion's story seem like an after thought after Ach and the Dark Hunters enter the story. Hours of fluff and then Orion's story is back on track in the last 2 chapters. Rushed. I wanted more Orion and his dragon and less Styxx, Achoron and Styker. The writing was not her best. She was on my automatic buy list until the last 2 books. Now I will hesitate.
It did offer a bonus scene with the hero/heroine of the next story. Hopefully it won't be 26 hours long and full of fluff.

The end with Phoebe was so anticlimactic. So glad Xyn ended up being the heroine. I think Urian loved Phoebe because she was a free sprit and somewhat introduced him to the modern world. I do like that Phoebe kind of showed how Cassandra was being ungrateful. Outside of that I really liked the storyline. Urian deserves to feel at home finally. Also kudos to SK to finding a way for the DH and daimons getting a truce. I finally like Stryker!!! Something makes me think that Stryker’s wife put something into motion that’s going to get Stryker caught up.
