Story
Good and bad things seem to be coming in threes for Kinsey Millhone: on her 33rd birthday she moves back into her renovated apartment, gets hired to find an elderly lady supposedly living in the Mojave Desert by herself, and makes the top of ex-con Tyrone Patty's hit list. It's the last that convinces Kinsey even she can't handle whoever's been hired to whack her, and she gets herself a bodyguard: Robert Dietz, a Porsche-driving P.I. who takes guarding Kinsey's body very seriously.

"D" Is for Deadbeat: Alvin Limardo hires Kinsey Millhone to deliver $25,000 to a 15-year-old kid. Seems pretty straightforward; or it would have been if Limardo wasn't a phony. "E" Is for Evidence: When Kinsey is framed for insurance fraud, she is expecting a complicated, tiring investigation. But she's not counting on the involvement of her long-departed ex-husband. "F" Is for Fugitive: Kinsey must prove the innocence of a man already found guilty of murder.

Story
In 1982, Sue Grafton introduced us to Kinsey Millhone. Thirty years later, Kinsey is an established international icon and Sue, a number-one best-selling author. To mark this anniversary year, Sue has given us stories that reveal Kinsey’s origins and Sue’s past. Kinsey and Me has two parts: The nine Kinsey stories (1986-93), each a gem of detection; and the And Me stories, written in the decade after Grafton's mother died. Together, they show just how much of Kinsey is a distillation of her creator’s past.

Publisher's Summary
Here together for the first time in audio, Santa Teresa P.I. Kinsey Millhone is still on the case.
"G" Is for Gumshoe
Kinsey Millhone's 33 birthday brings about final renovations to her apartment, a new case, and the top slot on Tyrone Patty's hit list. Obviously, it would turn out to be a birthday to remember.
"H" Is for Homicide
To the cops, the death of claims adjuster Parnell Perkins looked like a robbery gone sour; to Kinsey Millhone, it looks strangely suspicious. As the evidence leads Kinsey to insurance scammer Bibianna Diaz, she must race to get to her before Bibianna's spurned and violent suitor, Raymond Maldonado, does.
"I" Is for Innocent
Kenneth Voight thought that justice had not been served when David Barney was acquitted in the shooting death of Voight's ex-wife, Isabelle. Five years later, Voight is the plaintiff in a civil suit in which Barney stands accused of Isabelle's wrongful death. When Voight hires Kinsey to gather the necessary damning evidence, a simple civil case becomes a deadly hunt for someone who once got away with murder - and may again.

Excellent! Sue Grafton and Judy Kaye, a great team
I've read Sue Grafton since the 1980s and consider her the best mystery writer since Agatha Christie. Kinsey Millhone, private eye is smart, funny, and very good at her job.
I patiently awaited each new novel the first time around, reread most of the early ones, then started over with Audible when we lost Sue last year.
Perhaps I hope to find a hint to how it would have all ended with "Z"; something we will never know.
I love hearing the books in "Kinsey's voice", as Judy Kaye is absolutely perfect as Kinsey.
RIP, dear Sue.....gone but never forgotten. I will pass my collection along to my granddaughter who will love Kinsey and friends as much as I.

condensed digest version, poorly read
I almost never write negative reviews, but this was awful. The worst. The reader reads the books in a flat, rushed tone, as if she can't wait to get them over with. On top of that and even worse, what she reads is a highly condensed digest version of the wonderful works by Sue Grafton, completely devoid of all the detail and color that make the alphabet series such richly satisfying reads. To say that I was profoundly disappointed with this ripoff doesn't begin to come close to what I feel. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. NOT WORTH A SINGLE PENNY.

Best mystery writer
I have read all these books once, but wanted to hear them while traveling. Judy Kaye is the best narrator.
My only complaint is that I don’t think they are the full books. I think they have been condensed. Which bites since I pay per month to hear a whole book.
Another…not complaint really…but Sue Grafton died before the long awaited and final book could be completed. So we never know what happens to Kinsey.
Still, Sue Grafton will forever be my favorite author I highly recommend this series.
