In October of 2017, he won the Nobel Prize in Literature for "who, in novels of great emotional force, has uncovered the abyss beneath our illusory sense of connection with the world”. Published and shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 2000, When We Were Orphans was Kazuo Ishiguro’s fifth novel.
