Story
When Brent Mason looks at Kennedy Randolph, he doesn't see the awkward, sweet girl who grew up next door. He sees a self-assured, stunning woman...who wants to crush the most intimate - and prized - parts of his anatomy beneath the heels of her Louboutins. When Kennedy looks at Brent, all she sees is the selfish, Abercrombie & Fitch catalogue-worthy teenager who humiliated her in high school in order to join the popular crowd. A crowd that made those years a living hell for her.

Story
In one second, my life disappeared. My past. My memories. My future. The only certainty I have from the last three years is that my older brother is dead and that I am the only eyewitness. In order to protect the case, the lawyers demand no one give me any information about my life...I must remember on my own. My only help comes from my brother’s best friend and world-renowned investigative reporter Spencer Cross. He has no idea how many nights I’ve spent dreaming of his name—and his body—next to mine. Each day we spend together, I find it harder to want my old life back.

Story
I knocked up my best friend's sister. Let's start with how she decided to inform me and Pacey the news...together. Imagine that nightmare. I was going into what I thought was a hockey marketing meeting, and then bam! I'm going to be a dad and my best friend/teammate is attempting to imprint my face with his fist. Threats were tossed around, friendships were revoked, and then I was marched up to her apartment, suitcases in hand, and forced to live with her so I could take care of her every need. Now I'm finding it harder and harder not to fall for my best friend's little sister.

Reasons why I should not be drawn to Troy Serrano. Number one: He’s obnoxious. Number two: We were enemies more than a decade ago. Number three: He’s my friend’s ex-boyfriend. I could go on and on, really. When my boss gives me an unwanted assignment, and tells me it involves spending time with the grandson of one of our residents, the grandson turns out to be Troy. Lucky me. Four hours a week of having to deal with his insufferable personality and unsolicited advice - the only consolation is getting to stare at his annoyingly gorgeous face, in between our many arguments.

I've been dreading this for a year. Okay, that's a lie. I've been dreading this reunion since we graduated high school 10 years ago. So why am I here, standing outside the door like the eternal wallflower I am? I'd say it's because my younger sister browbeat me into it, but the truth is, I'm tired of being a nobody. Of never taking a risk with myself and my life. And...well...maybe I'm also hoping to see him. The tall, insanely gorgeous man walking my way now. Oliver Fritz is regarded as one of Boston's sexiest doctors. I know him as the former god of our school.

He's a billionaire heir. A grump supreme. Hater of people. Bigger hater of peopling with people. And my new fake boyfriend. "Emotionally unavailable" doesn’t even begin to describe Hayes Rutherford. Am I friends with JP Cane? Ha! That's laughable. Besides the fact that he’s adopted some far-fetched notion from the movie When Harry Met Sally that says men and women can't be friends and work together, it’s safe to say we're not friends. He's annoyingly loud, obnoxiously handsome, and has made an art out of poking all my hot buttons...multiple times a day. So you can imagine how disgruntled I am when I not only have to fly to San Francisco with him for work, but stay in the same penthouse. Yup, we're sharing the same air, 24-7. We're talking full-fledged working roommates.

Publisher's Summary
Emma Chase, New York Times best-selling author of the Tangled series, returns with the second installment of the Legal Briefs series!
A knight in tarnished armor is still a knight.
When you're a defense attorney in Washington, DC, you see firsthand how hard life can be and that sometimes the only way to survive is to be harder. I have a reputation for being cold, callous, and intimidating - and that suits me just fine. In fact it's necessary when I'm breaking down a witness on the stand.
Complications don't work for me - I'm a "need to know" type of man. If you're my client, tell me the basic facts. If you're my date, stick to what will get you off. I'm not a therapist or Prince Charming - and I don't pretend to be.
Then Chelsea McQuaid and her six orphaned nieces and nephews came along and complicated the ever-loving hell out of my life. Now I'm going to Mommy & Me classes, One Direction concerts, and the emergency room and am knee deep in a damn compost pit.
Chelsea's too sweet, too innocent, and too gorgeous for her own good. She tries to be tough, but she's not. She needs someone to help her and defend her - and the kids.
And that - that I know how to do.

Sexy, tender, funny...this book has it all!
STORY (Romance) - First of all, if you're offended by cursing, stop here. Jake, the male lead, has potty mouth extraordinaire. It's like F this, F that and on and on. I'm fine with it, but it will definitely be a turnoff to many.
If you're okay with the language, then you'll probably LOVE this book. Jake is a sexy bad-boy attorney who only uses women for sex. Chelsea is a grad student whose brother recently died, leaving her with six kids to take care of. It's actually believable the way Jake and Chelsea meet and begin their relationship and even the way Jake is won over by the kids. He's hot and sexy and you will love him! But the best part of the book is the humor. There's one part where Chelsea is sick and Jake is changing a diaper...I listened to it like five times. It's priceless!
PERFORMANCE - Sebastian York has a very low, sexy voice. It's the perfect voice for Jake and perfect for us ladies to listen to!
OVERALL - There's no violence in the book, but there is lots and lots of cussing. There are probably three or four explicit sex scenes, and they are pretty long. I'd guess 30 minutes of sex in the entire story. I'd recommend this book for any female who is okay with cursing and explicit sex. I'll definitely be getting the other books in this series.

Emma Chase Has Her Groove Back!
I was seriously not a fan of Overruled. The story and main characters of that book just were not my cup of tea. But in Emma I Trust. Thought I would give this series one more chance and I am so glad I did! I loved both Jake and Chelsea, oh and their brood! I fell in love with Jake, then wanted to slap him, but then fell in love with him all over again. Chelsea was a strong, caring, loving, selfless and spunky character. She was presented in such a way that drew you into really rooting for her (as well as the kid's) happily ever after. This story was well thought out and entertaining too! I loved how there was just the right amount of humor, sex and angst and how the characters were redeemable. And what can you say about Sebastian York...it's Sebastian York! He always does a fabulous job! I am so happy (& relieved) to be able to give this book 4+ Stars!

Funny Story. Fantastic Narration
THIS is how you write romantic comedy. THIS. THIS. THIS.
I loved this book. I think Ms. Chase is brilliant. She writes from the male lense SO well. I'm not a guy so I can only say she gives her male characters the kind of internal dialogue I would like to think all men have. And somehow, she manages to make us laugh even when there are some heavy things going on in the story.
This is book 2 in the Legal Briefs story and it is the best of the series.
The characters from book 1 and the upcoming book 3 both feature prominently in this story. I love the ensemble cast and it makes you feel like you're still getting continuation of their stories (or in Brent's case--a preview) and learning new things about them. Sofia and Stanton continue to be awesome!
While this story will make you laugh out loud, there are some moments that will make you want to weep, scream and hit something...and then laugh all over again.
If you read Ms. Chase's work before then you will know that there are often delightful, clever and sometimes mischevous children in her stories. This one is no exception and it just makes the story a smorgasbord of emotions. You get everything from this story: It's sexy as hell, laugh out loud funny, full of drama and will also break your heart a little.
Sebastian York's narration...is just AMAZING! His voice is delicious! As always, he does a great job!

Sweet, Heart Warming, Hot & Laugh out loud funny!
I've listened to this entire series a couple times. Emma Chase is alway an auto purchase for me. This book is my favorite of the 3 in the Legal Briefs series and has one of my FAVORITE cast of characters. There are so many laugh out loud funny parts in this book! I can't say enough about Sebastian York's narration, we all know he does great Alpha male voices, but he is outstanding in this book.. Lost count at like 15 different narrated characters & 5 of them are kids! The relationship build between the main characters was well paced, not rushed or insta-love, but when it did happen it was hot!!! The story is told from Jakes point of view so while there isn't an insta-love you know from the beginning that he finds Chelsea attractive. The reader also gets Jake's take on all the kids and their antics, which is part of the hilarity!!! This is stand alone, but you do get to see characters from the 1st book in the series. Not a cliff hanger. ** this is totally a honest review in exchange for my paid for copy ;) 😉

HILARIOUS
I enjoyed every side splitting moment of this story. After 'Overruled', it wasn't a question if I'd get the next one in the series. I really couldn't go wrong of course, especially with Sebastian York--enough said, right? On top of his luscious voice, the story was very sweet, sometimes heart wrenching, but overall I laughed out loud most of the time. Definitely credit worthy, and highly recommended if you're looking for a well written romantic comedy that draws you in with awesome characters you can't help but love!

3 ½ stars. It’s good.
I liked how the kids were a major part of the story. I like how Jake changed. The story begins with Jake doing hook-ups but not wanting to date. He has no plans to marry or have kids. He meets women in bars for sex. He doesn’t remember their names. He tells them to leave in the morning. Then he meets Chelsea who is guardian for 6 kids.
It’s fun watching Jake develop relationships with all the kids. And it’s reasonably good for romance with Chelsea.
Then we have the formulaic break-up. The reasons and actions were odd. It didn’t seem logical or fit the characters.
The sex scenes are ok. They are lengthy. The sexual language is strong/explicit. But I kind of agree with S K (an Amazon reviewer) who said the 1st person narrative style “created a problem with the sex scenes because they were narrated in this completely ridiculous voice that just sounded stupid instead of hot, more 'nice t*ts! heh heh' instead of anything erotic or steamy.”
Swearing: There is a lot of the f-word in this book.
1st PERSON POV:
Sadly I did not like this story being told in 1st person Jake’s point-of-view. It reminds me of listening to people I know talk about themselves and it’s kind of boring and I try to be polite and listen but wish they would hurry up and be done so I could leave. I am more relaxed when it’s 3rd person.
AUDIOBOOK NARRATOR:
Sebastian York did a fine job as narrator.
Genre: contemporary romance.

Emma and Sebastian have another hit!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I rarely write a review. Having said that let me say that I loved this book. Great story, great sex, great narrator. The book made me laugh out loud, not just giggle. Characters were well developed, kids were superb! When I think about the piano teacher and mommy play day I still LOL. Narrator did a great job with all the characters. Thanks for a great listen.
Which character – as performed by Sebastian York – was your favorite?
Reagan
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
As I said earlier, episode about the piano teacher and mommy play day are laugh out loud.

If it had a strong story to tell maybe one could get through it. On and on and on about his lack of sex or his abundance.

I couldn't put it down! !!!
Another amazing addictive heartwarming story.
I loved every minute of this book. Emma Chase and Sebastian York are always a winning combination for me and I'm never left disappointed.
I loved it that much I'm currently listening to it again!! the voice of Sebastian York truly brings the characters to life right from the off.
You will not be disappointed if you purchase this book as this book has it all!!!!!!
happy listening!!!!!

What a lovely book! The character - Jake, was just awesome. Perfectly built throughout the story. I shed a little tear but it was worth it. Love it!

Such a great story.
Would you listen to Sustained again? Why?
I have listened to Sustained over, when I need a pick me up this a go to listen. The story is poignant, there is sadness from the beginning but honestly, Jake has to be one of the best characters Emma Chase has written. loved it from beginning to end.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Jake is just so sexy and endearing, confused by how much he enjoys being around the kids and clinging to his 'man card'
Which character – as performed by Sebastian York – was your favourite?
Jake, just the best! Sebastian York is one of my favourite narrators, I look for stories he narrates knowing it will be a good one.

Beautiful and heart warming story.
Emma Chase always creates incredibly dishy men with a great sense of humour. I loved this story as much as Stanton's, Sophia's and Brent's. Great narrator too.

surprisingly delightful
Didn't think I would enjoy as much as I did, and glad I took a chance. not too fluffy or syrupy sweet, enough realistic angst and emotion thrown in, but not over the top drama. Enjoyed the moments of humour, which were well delivered by the narrator - he really did a great job on all the voices, with no over acting that really grates. In fact, he grew on me as it progressed. Thought the whole 6 children would be just silly, and was surprised at how the author made that work and felt real.
