Publisher's Summary

Maud Demille is a daughter of Innkeepers—a special group who provide "lodging" to other-planetary visitors—so she knows that a simple life isn't in the cards. But even Maud could never have anticipated what Fate would throw at her.

Once a wife to a powerful vampire knight, Maud and her young daughter, Helen, were exiled with him for his treachery to the desolate, savage planet of Karhari. Karhari killed her husband, and Maud—completely abandoned by his family—has spent over a year avenging his debts. Rescued by her sister Dina, she's sworn off all things vampire.

Except...in helping Dina save the world, she met Arland, the Marshal of House Krahr, one of the most powerful vampire houses. One thing led to another and he asked for her hand in marriage. She declined. Arland is not used to hearing the word "no," and try as she might, Maud can't just walk away from Arland. It doesn't help that being human is a lot harder for Maud than being a vampire.

To sort it all out, she accepts his invitation to visit his home planet. House Krahr is extremely influential and Maud knows that a woman—a human, with a very questionable past—who's turned down a proposal from its most beloved son won't get a warm reception. Maybe she’s not sure about marrying Arland, but House Krahr isn’t going to decide for her. Maud Demille has never run from a fight, and House Krahr will soon discover that there's a lot more to Maud than they’re expecting.

Good but short

it's maybe my bard but all the Innkeeper installments are short, as if parts are skipped. You jump from a scene to another and seem to miss some ground, while descriptions of the surrounding are stretched to the limits. Somehow there's an imbalance.
Someone wrote once Andrew's fight scenes are better than the love scenes, and I fully agree with it. They are powerful and very good.
Apart from complaining about the shortness and some unpredictable jumps in the plot, I do enjoy the books, all of them. And the narration is great, the dramatized version so much more! A real movie in your mind, my only trouble the loud volume of the soundtrack. . I'd prefer a less rampant noise but okay you can't have everything
Narration of a good story keeps me locked on it and the spot for hours.... Simply great, I love reading books but having them being narrated to me is another experience, the whole universe gets so much more vivid and real in your mind ❤

Graphic Audio is awesome!

I have listened to all of Ilona Andrews books, and they are great. the narrator's are spot on. But Graphic Audio is better because it makes, literally, "a movie for your mind". Each voice is different, each scene unfolds in new imaginings, and the pictures in your brain are incredible. the intensity of battle scenes suddenly become more "you are there and here is danger". I love these Graphic Audio renditions when I am not sewing or knitting because I find they are distracting from the craft. I find I either have to pause the story or pause the task until the scene is over .

Loved it!

I just couldn't listen to the narrator they chose for this book, especially after listening to Renee Raudman!! This dramatization tho was superb! I loved everything about it Unless they go back to Ms Raudman I will continue with this format with the future books.

Swept me away

Love the graphic audio of this book- very exciting and perfect to listen to while driving. Some of the sound effects were a little distracting to the dialogue but most added to the story. Love Ilona Andrews and look forward to their next graphic audio!

I liked it

I really like the undramatized version better, but I can appreciate each version for what it is. I thought the timing was a little of when switching characters. I think if I listen again I might like it better.

Wonderful

I read the book and listened the audio book. However the graphic audio just immense me in the story.
Yes there seems to be a little bit left out or condensed but I don't think those really matter in the scheme of it.
I think they did a wonderful job. I will be looking forward to more graphic audio books.
