Publisher's Summary

USA Today best-selling author Adriana Locke delivers a “fresh and fun” romance between a grumpy single dad and his beautiful, spunky employee—the one he can’t have.

Chemistry is not love.

That’s what my boss, the grumpy single dad with brilliant green eyes, says, anyway.

I have my V-card. He’s 10 years older than me. I work for him.

Nate Hughes has a million reasons why a relationship between us would never work. Honestly? It’s all a farce.

He can’t deny our connection. His soft smiles, brief touches, and protective behaviors come too easily. And when I need a place to stay? He can’t stop himself from offering me a room—though I’d prefer his bed. After all, there are sparks—delicious, sizzling sparks—when we’re together.

Our forced proximity brings things to a head. Our shared experiences and traumas draw us closer. Our undeniable attraction has us toeing the line between friends and lovers—whether Nate likes it or not.

He’s right—chemistry is not love. But that doesn’t mean that I won’t fall in love with him...even if he can’t love me back.

Ok story

This wasn’t as good as the others in this series, Wen Ross did a great job in the others, but something was off for me in this one.

Great Easy Listen!

This book had me ready for write a five-star review before I was halfway through. By the end I was so sorry it took me this long to listen to this author. This should be an easy add and I’m going back to beginning of the series as I started with this book. You can still follow along even if you haven’t read the other books but I’m sure you’d have a better understanding of all the characters.
Single-Dad is the grumpy bar owner who is 10 years older than Paige and only looking for someone ready to be a mom. He can’t let Ryder get attached to someone else and loose them. It’s no parade of women in front of his son. Paige is young and fun but not ready to be a mom, settle down or really let herself love. But what they can’t fight is that odd attraction that keeps pulling them into each other’s orbit. When Paige needs a place to stay through no fault of her own, she ends up at Nate’s with him and Ryder. She is their guest and friend until they find themselves getting used to sharing a life and daily duties. They both are waiting for the bottom to fall out and when it does, they have to figure out of it’s worth putting in the work. I did listen to this book and it was an easy listen. I found myself not wanting to stop listening to do life things in which I was required to have conversations.

Nate and Paige's story!!!

I loved this book when I read it originally and was super excited to listen to it in audiobook form!! Thanks to Adriana Locke for the audiobook!! The story was amazing and the narrators were exactly how I imagined Nate and Paige would sound when I first read this book.

If you’ve ever read a book by Adriana, you know what you’re going to get will be fun, flirty, and dare I day, sweet. That’s exactly what you get with Sweet, Paige and Nate’s book. Single dad trope, forced proximity trope, it’s got all the good stuff. Nate is a single dad trying to avoid his attraction to his employee Paige, who doesn’t believe in forever. When she gets evicted from her apartment and needs a place to stay, Nate steps up to take her in despite his hesitance to give in to his attraction. As the book goes on and they both face their pasts and fears together, you see the growth of two people together. Nate is supportive, reliable, and would do anything for his son and Paige. The dynamic between the two of them draws you in as they fight their attraction, and you find yourself cheering them on.

If you’re looking for a cute, easy, and sweet read, Sweet is the book for you. If you’re looking for more Adriana Locke, pick up any one of her other series on KU to get the stories of many characters you see in Sweet (the 6th book in the Landry family series). You can’t go wrong with any of them. I can’t wait for Adriana’s next release and until then, I might dive right back into her world with another series of hers focusing on another family (Gibson, Landry, or Mason series).

Communication!

The word in life is communication and Adriana put it into a book so beautifully with love and respect for both parties. This book is so much more than just romance it's about how to learn to trust someone in life, love, and all around happiness. One of the best books I've read/listened to in a long time.

Single dad you swoon over

This is only my second Adriana Locke book and I loved it. Paige and Nate both have rough pasts with trauma they both are dealing with. They both aren’t sure that love will really work between them. Nate breaks down Paige’s walls and gets through to her. Now I need to read the rest of the serious.

Good

This was a good read. It shows that everyone has issues and doubts and to some extent self sabotaging tendencies. It all boils down to how you deal with them.
Nate and Paige made the perfect couple for these issues and how to deal (and not deal) with them.
As for the narration, it was good. I enjoyed both their voices, but I did have to increase the speed to make the speech more realistic or at least not as languid.

Nate and Paige

I like that two average people both struggling with the past or trying to keep things together come together and the road is never easy. One loves easily while the other struggles with acceptance and the fear of falling in love and the word forever. Nate is sweet, kind, a big heart that he hides behind a gruff exterior
Wen and Kai do a great job.

I wanted to like this book but…

I really wish I liked this book but I did not. I was such a fan of the other Landry family books but this one is a skip. The characters “issue” came across as trivial and overblown. Also why was she so super specialized? It seemed so unnecessary to the story. The only cute thing was the kid. That was its only redeeming quality.

Adored Sweet💕

I absolutely adored Sweet!! Seriously—Nate is a total DILF (cherries included please) and Ryder is so stinking cute!! The way he ‘mans up’ to Nate is so sweet 😉 and the way he just absolutely loves Paige 💞

Paige & Nate both have had terrible things happen in their pasts and they are at different stages of their lives…but life & fate have decided they need each other. After months of some serious flirting Nate steps up and helps Paige out…

Sweet is sweet, sexy, a little heartbreaking, super swoony & so stinking cute💞 I give it all the pancakes with syrup hearts & a cherry on top 🥵

I love that we get Hollis, the Landrys and a glimpse of the Carmichaels❤️ can’t wait to see what these brothers have in store for us😑

Fave quotes:

He stares me down and waits for me to flinch. Men bigger and meaner than you have tried and failed, kid.—-I love the bond that Paige & Ryder have💓

“Listen to me,” he says, squishing my lips together. He stares into my eyes like we’re about to discuss the end of the world. Maybe we are—the end of our world as we know it. “I’m listening,” I say as clearly as I can. He’s undeterred. “You are the only one of us that’s not scared of anything. You have to be the grown-up and be responsible. Okay?” “Okay.” He leaves his eyes pinned to mine to drive home his point. Like I don’t already understand. I set him on his feet. He straightens his shirt and huffs back to the doorway. “No work today. We’re gonna find Paige,” he says, storming down the hallway. “I’m tired of you being lazy about it.”—-I freaking love this kid🥰

“I always thought I needed to find someone to share my life with. But it was the opposite.” “What do you mean?” I twist my head and kiss the side of her cheek. “I needed to find someone that I couldn’t live without.”—-🥲

Great Story & Narration🎧 Captivating & Heartfelt!

It was great to revisit Adriana Locke’s “Landry” world again with this wonderfully sweet and heartfelt romance. Like the other books in the series, the story stands on its own, characters from earlier books make an appearance and it is like seeing an old friend again. If you haven’t had the pleasure to read or listen to the earlier books, I highly recommend that you do, they are all amazing and each one features different lead characters, characters that are easy to fall in love with. This book is Nate Hughes and Paige Carmichael’s story, Paige works at The Golden Room, a bar owned Nate. They are both attracted to each other, but he has deemed her off limits, but Nate, a single dad, is her employee and he does not want to complicate things. Plus, he is looking for a forever girl and Paige does not believe in forever. When she gets an eviction notice because she trusted her roommate was paying the bills, she asks Nate if she could stay with him. He was reluctant at first because he does not bring people into his son’s life who do not plan to stay, but with a long list of rules, he agreed to let her stay. I adored these two characters and thought they were great together and for each other even before they gave into that chemistry which they could no longer deny themselves of. Each had their own baggage, but Paige’s has really taken a toll on her and the trust of people and relationships. And then there is Ryder, Nate’s son, an adorable scene stealer and wise beyond his years. This beautifully written and beautifully plotted romance novel has the perfect balance of drama, a touch of angst, heartfelt emotions, charming and heartwarming moments, and some hot loving. Adriana Locke, thank you for another wonderful story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott are the perfect cast to bring these characters and their story to life. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, gave each a voice that fit their character’s persona to a tee, sounding believable and just as I pictured the characters to sound. Wen Ross played Nate’s role with perfection, Kai Kennicott did the same for Paige’s role, each grasping their character’s emotions completely and had you feeling every single one. Both were great at performing the roles of the secondary characters as well, including the most adorable Ryder. These entertaining storytellers are a pleasure to listen to, and their performance enhances an already amazing story to another level. Thank you for another fabulous listen.

Book 6 standalone

Book 6 standalone
I enjoyed this book but I think I would have liked it better if I would have listened to books 1-5 first. It took me a minute to get into the books because I wasn’t familiar with the characters. However it was a great story with great characters that have real past issues they had to overcome. The narration was great. I definitely recommend this book/series.

Loved it!

I love the Landry family and Nate and Page's story is a great addition to the series. Full of love, laughter and characters you can't help but fall for, Sweet is a must read for contemporary romance fans.
Paige works for Nate, and when she needs a place to stay, he offers to let her move in with him and his son. Despite all the reasons Nate has for them not to be together, the heart wants what it wants!! And the level of chemistry they have cannot be denied. This is a heartwarming romance, and I love the journey Paige and Nate go on to get to their HEA. Another fantastic audiobook from one of my favourite authors.

One not to be missed!

Adriana has pulled it out the bag again! This book is amazing and well worth the wait! As usually Kai Konnecott and Win ross are amazing in the audio book. Dont think I've heard to narrators who work so well together. Cannot wait to read more of the Carmichael family!

DNF - NOT A DUET NARRATION AUDIOBOOK

Sooo disappointed that the audiobook is being promoted as a duet but is not.

I read the book the other day on Kindle and loved the story so I was super excited when I saw that the audiobook was a duet narration. I personally only listen to duet narration audiobooks as it brings the story to life and I cringe when the female does a deep voice and the male does a high pitch voice.

Wren and Kai are amazing and have done so many duet narration audiobooks prior so it is very dishonest to have it say duet!

Nate and Paige’s story is so sweet with an emotional roll coaster that has you rooting for them.
