Story
We met in a trapped elevator. Emmett was on his way to work, sophisticated and handsome in his tailored suit and tie. I was on my way to the sperm bank. Awkward, right? At 35, my life hadn't taken the path I thought it would and I was tired of waiting - I wanted a baby. And I was ready to take matters into my own hands to make it happen. After our ill-fated elevator encounter, Emmett insisted on taking me to dinner - he also insisted on something else - that I ditch my plan involving a turkey baster and let him do the job. He would be my baby daddy.

My resignation letter was rejected by my boss with his sexy, trademark smirk and an "I highly suggest you read the fine print of your contract...." So, I did. And now I've realized that unless I fake my death, poison him, or find a way to renegotiate my impossible contract, I'm stuck working under one of the cockiest and most ruthless bosses in New York. Then again, I thought that was the case until he called me late last night with an emergency proposition....

Story
It all started with a contract signed by him, then by me, while our families watched. While my father sat silent, a man defeated, giving his daughter to the Benedetti monsters. I obeyed. I played my part. I signed my name and gave away my life. I became their living, breathing trophy, a constant symbol of their power over us. That was five years ago. Then came the time for him to claim me. For Salvatore Benedetti to own me. I had vowed vengeance. I had learned hate. And yet nothing could have prepared me for the man who now ruled my life.

Never mix business with pleasure. Never bring politics into the bedroom. In a way I did both when I took Jackson Rutledge as a lover. I can't say I wasn't warned. Two years later, he was back. Walking into a deal I'd worked hard to close. Under the tutelage of Lei Yeung, one of the sharpest businesswomen in New York, I had picked up a thing or two since Jax walked away. I wasn't the girl he once knew, but he hadn't changed. Unlike the last time we'd drifted into each other's lives, I knew exactly what I was dealing with...and how addictive his touch could be.

Penny spends her afternoons sitting outside a sandwich shop, surrounded by ghosts. Fourteen years ago, this shop was her childhood dance studio - and she was a dancer on the rise. Now she’s a suburban housewife, dreading the moment her son departs for MIT, leaving her with an impeccably decorated McMansion and a failing marriage. She had her chance at wild, stars-in-her-eyes happiness, but that was a lifetime ago. After The Kiss. Before The Decision.

Edward Fasbender is a devil. He’s my father's biggest rival. He takes what he wants, and he bows to no one. And now Edward Fasbender wants me. I didn’t expect to want him back. Having him is not in the cards, not when a union with him would destroy my father. But that doesn’t mean I can’t play with him a bit. Except, I’ve never played against such a ruthless opponent. Edward is cold and vicious, and my blood has never run hotter. They say you should choose the devil you know, but I've always preferred long odds. Even if it'll get me slain.

Grant Malone is not the reason I moved back to Sunnyville - at least that’s what I tell myself. Yet, those parting words I said to him back in third grade ring in my ears every time a towns-person brings up one of the Malone boys. I thought time had healed my wounds. I was wrong. Nothing could have prepared me for how I felt when I finally saw him again. Twenty years does a lot to turn a boy into a man. One who hits all my buttons - sexy, funny, attractive, and a police officer.

The first time I met Hudson Rothschild was at a wedding. I’d received an unexpected invitation to one of the swankiest venues in the city. Hudson was a groomsman and quite possibly the most gorgeous man I’d ever laid eyes on. He asked me to dance, and our chemistry was off the charts. I knew it wasn’t a good idea to get involved with him, considering the wedding I was at. But our connection was intense, and I was having a great time. Though the fun came to a screeching halt when Hudson figured out I wasn’t who I’d said I was.

Reasons why I should not be drawn to Troy Serrano. Number one: He’s obnoxious. Number two: We were enemies more than a decade ago. Number three: He’s my friend’s ex-boyfriend. I could go on and on, really. When my boss gives me an unwanted assignment, and tells me it involves spending time with the grandson of one of our residents, the grandson turns out to be Troy. Lucky me. Four hours a week of having to deal with his insufferable personality and unsolicited advice - the only consolation is getting to stare at his annoyingly gorgeous face, in between our many arguments.

We met in the least likely of places. It started out innocently enough. I was “ScreenGod”, and she was “Montana”, but of course those weren’t our actual names, just the virtual cloaks we hid behind. Logging in at night and talking to her was my escape - my sanctuary. Her real name was Eden, I’d soon come to find out. From the first time we connected online, I found myself transfixed. She was an addiction. At first, we knew nothing about each other’s real identities...and she was adamant that we keep things that way.

It all started with a mysterious blue note sewn into a wedding dress. Something blue. I’d gone to sell my own unworn bridal gown at a vintage clothing store. Jason Thorn...my brother's childhood friend. Oh, how stupidly in love with that boy I was. He was the first boy who made me blush, my first official crush. Sounds beautiful so far, right? That excitement that bubbles up inside you, those famous butterflies you feel for the very first time - he was the reason for them all. But you get to live in that fairy tale world only until they crush your hopes and dreams and then stomp on your heart for good measure. And boy did he crush my little heart into pieces.

Publisher's Summary
It all started with the invitation. To my ex-fiance's new wedding.
I should have ignored it. Thrown it away. Set it afire. But I didn't. I replied.
With a plus one.
Enter Hayes Whitley. Mega-movie star. The man who has captured the hearts of millions. But I gave him mine years ago. He was my first love. He was my everything. Right until he up and left to chase his dreams without so much as a simple goodbye.
When he showed up out of the blue 10 years later, I should have known to steer clear. I should have rejected his offer to take me to my ex's wedding and told him he was crazy when he suggested we act like a couple to show my ex, it's true, I could do better than him.
But I didn't.
And now we're left wondering if the pieces of the life we once shared still fit together somehow. First loves are hard to forget. The question is, do we want to forget? Or do we risk the chance and see what happens next?

My Review:
Overall: 4.75
Performance: 4.75
Story: 4.5
I adore second chance at love stories and this was an absolutely fantastic one. Hayes and Saylor were high school lovers. Then he got an opportunity for his big break in Hollywood, and he left...without ever looking back at the girl he left behind brokenhearted. He did make it huge and she dealt with her heartbreak as best she could...mainly by falling for the wrong guy afterwards. But after 6 years with the wrong guy, she finally wised up and broke it off with her fiance. The problem...the ex-fiance has a very powerful family in this small town and they're ruining the business in this small town.
Now to add insult to injury, they sent her an invite to the wedding she planned, but with someone else as the bride. Saylor isn't heartbroken, but she's hurt and doesn't know how to deal with this man and his family who so obviously want to rub her nose in his new happiness. Her older brother (who's still best friends with Hayes) thinks the ultimate revenge would be to show up at the destination wedding with a much better man on her arm showing that she's moved up in the world, so he calls in a favor to Hayes, the now mega-movie star who still has a soft spot in his heart for the girl he left behind.
There was so much to love about this book, but I think my favorite was Saylor herself. She's just trying to save her bakery, Sweet Cheeks, that she loves so much. I love the dichotomy of how much the ex-fiance hated that about her vs. how much Hayes helps her embrace her love for all things cupcakes, including randomly having frosting in her hair. Hayes has made some epic mistakes with her and other parts of his life, but he's such a good guy and the two of them together are pure magic. There's no denying that they are truly soulmates who just lost their way. I love them together and how much Hayes' love for her makes her so much stronger. She's already a confident woman, but Hayes' belief in her is everything.
Note: I listened to this on audio although I have the book in print, too. (Um, hello...did you see that cover? It's worth having in print just to drool over all the pretty that is that cover.) There are dual narrators for this based upon the back and forth male/female pov. I love it when audiobooks are done that way and these two narrators are absolutely top-notch. I loved both of them and how they did both their male and female voices. I thought their styles matched perfectly and seamlessly. It was a GREAT audiobook for a great book! I highly recommend it.

If At First You Don't Like It, Try, Try Again...
....If It Doesn't Get Any Better - Quit! No Point In Wasting Time!
Honestly, I tried to like this story. I started, and stopped it several times since November 2016, and just couldn't get into it. Today, I thought I give it one more fresh shot and only managed to listen 30 minutes. I'm throwing in the towel, and moving this audio to my DNF pile. It's another second chance love story, but the plot, characters, and dialogue just didn't capture or hold my attention. I've managed to listened to over 50% and a large portion of that was dialogue driven. The dialogue was flat and uninteresting. I'm definitely in the minority, but glad others Audible members enjoyed Sweet Cheeks. Sadly, this one just wasn't for me.
The narration was great, but unfortunately even Andi Ardnt and Sebastian York couldn't pull me into the story.
How do you rate a story you don't finish? I didn't hate it, but at the same time I was completly uninterested with the plot and characters. Overall rating three stars for being meh...

This story was super SWEET!!! I love a second chance romance! It is such a nice change from all the insta-love I am always reading. I really enjoy a story where you feel the love and lust from the beginning. Saylor and Hayes grew up together and I loved that because they have so much history, there was no need for them to really get to know each other, even after all those years. I really enjoyed how creative Hayes is with his action. The narration was perfect...how could it not be with Andi and Sebastian!

I gave this audiobook an A-/B+ 4 narration/story!
I gave this audiobook an A- for the narration and a B+ for the story at AudioGals.
Narration by Andi Arndt and Sebastian York
Sweet Cheeks gives a unique spin to a story that romance listeners have no doubt heard before: the second chance at love trope. The interesting twist is that Ms. Bromberg splices and dices this trope with a couple of other contemporary romance tropes (the movie star with a small town girl and the jealousy inspiring “plus one” date to the former fiancée’s wedding to another woman) and adds her own clever touches (grudge cupcakes and Hollywood antics) to make the story sound fresh and new. Further complimenting this fun, romantic tale is the splendid dual narration by Andi Arndt and Sebastian York.
Saylor Rodgers recently broke up with her fiancé whom she dated for a number of years but never felt a close connection to. Now she is single and dealing with a struggling cupcake business that she runs along with her brother. With her ex’s deep roots to the small California town they live in, it seems that post break-up, all her former friends have sided with her ex-fiancé and his country-club mom, and will not dare set a toe in her bakery shop for fear of the social backlash.
Meanwhile, as if this weren’t enough to deal with, Saylor also receives an invitation to her former fiancé’s wedding – a near carbon copy event to the one she and he had been planning (even at the same resort destination), except now it’s to another woman who could be her twin. What’s a girl to do? While contemplating the answer, the response gets inadvertently mailed (with a “plus one” designation) and her brother insists that the solution to the whole mess – including ameliorating their present black list status among their town’s socialites – is for Saylor to attend the wedding with a man who commands even more social/star power than her ex. Now who could that possibly be? Fortunately for Saylor, her brother knows just the man: his best friend, Hayes Whitley, who is now a huge movie star. Only one catch with this agenda – Hayes broke Saylor’s heart a long time ago when he left without a word to pursue his dreams. Can the man who broke her heart so many years ago possibly be the answer to her present calamity, never mind lead to a HEA?
So ensues a series of comical and heat-filled events that include a Hollywood diva who doesn’t take well to Hayes escorting Saylor to the wedding, a small town gossip lover’s dream as wedding guests become privy to the social event of the year, and then a protracted social media battle in which “grudge cupcakes” and their healing powers become the latest and most fashionable trend!

Would you consider the audio edition of Sweet Cheeks to be better than the print version?

wedding scene
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Cheesy dialogue, basic plot, not that hot
So many times while listening to this book I said out loud "UGH who actually talks like this?" Or I just cringed. The story was basic and full of stereotypes like "big strong dominant man", "vapid Hollywood celebrity" and "mean rich snob" that were incredibly two dimensional. I saw good reviews and wanted a fun escape story but with dialogue and characters like this it's hard to escape. That being said, I thought the narrators had nice voices and did a solid job with the material.

I really wanted to like this...
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
I don't know because from the comments, a ridiculous amount of people loved it! I went into the story with excitement and high expectations. Maybe that is why it's such a let down.
What could K. Bromberg have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
I don't think there is something the author could do to this book to change my mind. It would be a completely different book.
What does Andi Arndt and Sebastian York bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Their narration is the only reason I was able to finish the book. They are amazing.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
I love a happy ending...
Any additional comments?
It was very hard to have patience with the main characters and the situations they put themselves in. The story tried to be charming but it fell short most of the time. There was an unnecessary amount of things that happened to the main character that are never explained or the author just puts out there but never addresses them. The ridiculous mood swings from the main character gave me whiplash and I to stop listening at several points in the story to be able to continue. I don't mean for this review to be harsh and I got this book expecting to love it. So much potential.

UNIMPRESSED
This book has all the ingredients of a great story--good narrators, a storyline with potential, a seriously HOT book cover! :-) But it fell totally flat for me. It was like a bad mashup and just never piqued my interest fully. The situations throughout the story kind of dragged on annoyingly with unnecessary angst, and contemplation, or the drama was just not an interesting direction for the story. Usually Sebastian York is awesome, but even his delicious voice couldn't salvage this story and these characters. The best part was the last hour, which was very cute and interesting. I can't put my finger on it, and maybe it will resonate with other listeners but, I could've been listening to paint dry and that would be the equivalent of me listening to this story unfold.

Sweet like Sugar
If you could sum up Sweet Cheeks in three words, what would they be?
Sweet, cute, predictable
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The most interesting aspect of the story was what kept me listening, there was a subplot that I had to know what happened. Of course the main characters were cute with their rekindling romance and the push and pull, but I really wanted to know what would happen with the ex fiancé.
The least interesting was just that is was predictable and I felt like I have heard this story many times. There was nothing about the characters that made me love them or care what happened to them.
What about Andi Arndt and Sebastian York ’s performance did you like?
Andi and SebYo are solid. They always are and it made the book just that much better.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Of course an HEA always gets me in the ticker.

Perfect
I love second chance romances, and this book is right at the top with the best of them. When Hollywood star Hayes Whitely walked out of Saylor's life 10 years previously, it wasn't because he'd stopped loving her. He never intended to not return, but the Hollywood lights were a calling and he never looked back. Saylor struggled with a broken heart until eventually meeting a stuck up mummy's boy, after 6 years (during which time she got engaged) she realises she didn't love him and broke off the engagement. 6 months later when she receives an invitation to the wedding of her ex fiancé (it was literally a carbon copy of her planned wedding), she ends up going with her first love, Hayes Whitely. Well, herein starts a rollercoaster ride of love, loss, emotions, sex, promises, misunderstandings, lies, regrets and payback. Written in dual POV, it had just the fight amount of angst, along with some fun humour added in to the mix. Thoroughly enjoyable, light feel good read.

Fantastic
Hayes and Saylor's story was fantastic, I couldn't put this down. This is a second chance romance story between two people who got separated when he left for Hollywood, now they are trying to get to a wedding. The story plot is fantastic, the characters will steal your heart, definitely one you don't want to miss. Andi Arndt and Sebastian York are guaranteed, they do a perfect job and together they make any story a perfect read.

couldn't stop listening
I loved this book and I couldn't stop listening to it. The characters are both likeable and though the end is predictable the storyline keeps you interested as you get to it. The narration as always by Sebsdtian York and Andi Arnt is absolutely fabulous.. Its my first K. Bromberg novel and I can't wait to start my next.

frustration overload
I've listened to other books of K Bromberg but this one nearly had me turning it off at chptr 25. too much thinking and veering off on a thinking tangent. it drove me insane. I just listened to hear the ending. this novel was stretched too far for enjoyment I my opinion
