When history professor Alison Carter became a consultant to the film version of the Wild West legend she’d dedicated her career to researching, she couldn’t possibly have known that she would not only get a front-row seat to a full-blown Hollywood circus but would innocently witness something that would put her life in peril. Nor did she expect that a tall stranger in a cowboy hat would turn the movie — and her world — completely upside down.

Publisher's Summary
When FBI agent Grayson Kincaid first encounters Olivia MacKenzie, she makes quite an impression. The beautiful, tough young attorney has stumbled into the middle of an FBI sting operation and reduced it to chaos. Months of surveillance and careful planning down the drain, Kincaid’s partner is furious and lets Olivia know that she’s ticked off the wrong guy. After all, he’s FBI.
But Olivia isn’t intimidated by his partner’s bullying because she’s something even scarier...she’s IRS.
And working for the IRS is no picnic. She’s on the trail of an elaborate Ponzi scheme, one that threatens to ruin the lives of naive and unsuspecting victims, and one she has personal reasons to be angry about. But after she asks the wrong people questions, her life is suddenly endangered. She’s accustomed to looking out for others who are weak, but being vulnerable herself makes her realize she needs help. In desperation, she calls Grayson Kincaid.
Together they join forces to fight corruption, but Olivia is also fighting the immediate and intense attraction she feels for Agent Kincaid, and that may be a battle she is bound to lose.

More Please...More!
Julie Garwood is a very talented storyteller! I loved every minute of Sweet Talk: A Novel. I love her historical romance novels, as well as her contemporary romance novels.
Angela Dawe is one of my favorite narrators who has performed more than 100 books on Audible alone. I really don't understand the negative reviews on Ms. Dawe. Her style of narration is very easy to follow and identify each separate character...male or female. Her ear for accents, such as those used in the Highlander/Historical Romances, demonstrates and confirms a real talent.
Great Book! Definitely Credit Worthy!!

Sweet and Poignant!
Olivia is a cancer survivor, who was treated shamelessly by her family, when she was a child. Therefore, her relationship with them is almost non existent. The sting operation that she inadvertently stumbled into has repercussions that are farther reaching than the FBI. Enter Grayson Kincaid, who is immediately taken with Olivia and her show of courage, and sets out to befriend her; in the course of things realizes someone is out to kill her.
This was a very entertaining story, and yes I do recommend it.
Angela Dawe did a fantastic job with her performance of the story.

Good story but annoying narrator
What did you like best about Sweet Talk? What did you like least?
I love all of Julie Garwood's books. I just wish I had read the book on this one instead of listening to it. The narrater has an annoying habit of ending words and sentences with an upward tinny pitch.
There isn't really any difference in her voice when she is narrating female dialog and giving background information. Her male voices are not very good.
The story is good except the author tells you the main character has a "touch of Asthma" but through out the book she is desperately seeking her emergency inhaler. This got old fast. I think she used the emergency inhaler several time each day. All I could think of was the main character needs to see a pulmonary specialist.

Sweet Talk was sweet
This book kept me laughing and sometimes sad, intermittently. I know some like the graphic sex parts, but I think a little mystery there is better. However the overall story was very well put. Besides those of us who like Julie Garwood, knows she is a consummate story teller. Well worth the listen, also.

Lose the narrator!
I love Julie Garwood and always wait for the next book. But what a disappointment. I hardly wanted to finish this one simply because of the narrator. Very ho-hum style with the same inflections over and over. I'm not sure I can even read the hard copy version without it being ruined now. Too bad. Don't let her read any more of your books, Julie.

Entertaining
Where does Sweet Talk: A Novel rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Good enough to buy, but not good enough to be at the top of my favorites, or in my favorites.
What did you like best about this story?
The relationship seemed very realistic, the plot not so much but the relationship could have been real.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes it kept me on the edge I couldn't figure out the ending way before it happened, which is unusual for me.
Any additional comments?
worth it.
