Classic Jessie Gussman/Jay Dyess storytelling

All 3 of these are a great intro to Sweetwater North Dakota where you have to be beyond tough to survive let alone thrive. The premise of the series is a multibillionaire left a will giving a billion dollars to select people if they would marry and live in North Dakota. The first story is best friends trope with Palmer set to lose the family ranch due to Pap’s medical bills. The second story is a secret baby with the famous NHL star from high school. The third is the classic ugly duckling and beauty and the beast combination. You can always count on a great story that’s clean with Jessie Gussman and Jay Dyess is an accomplished narrator going from voice to voice smoothly with perfect timing.

Wonderful Sweet Romance Stories

This was a compilation of the first three books of the "Sweet Water Ranch Cowboy Series" written by Jessie Gussman and all three stories were delightful. Jessie paints pictures of the towns that she creates and writes about characters that stay in the reader's memories long after the story is completed. Although each character's love story was different, all of her books have romance and humor written into the story. A particular favorite was titled, "The Cowboy's Beauty" as it was loosely based on the fairytale, "Beauty And The Beast" which has always been a favorite of mine. I recommend Jessie's books to others who enjoy this genre. Jay Dyess' narration was emotive and added to the story's entertainment. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily posted this review.

This was another great set of books by Jessie Gussman. The narrator made the stories come to life. You will not be disappointed if you listen to this boxset.

Very enjoyable

I had read these books before and very much enjoyed the story. t
They kept my
my interest from the beginning. MS Gussman writes believable characters. Usually her books have twists so they are not predictable, which makes the book more fun to read. Mr. Dyess did a wonderful job narrating the stories.

Amazing stories and narrator

Best Friend:
I loved this book. Best friends becoming something more and having to decide how much love is worth. I enjoyed the banter and antics between the two and the musings in their heads. The small town seems wonderful and the other characters mentioned seem great - I can’t wait to read about them in future books!
Dyess Audiobook review addition:
I have previously read all of the books by this author and am now working my way through listening to them. This is my first time listening to a book done by Dyess. I've heard amazing things about him, but he simply blew this out of the water! Incredible. The different voices, different enough to easily distinguish characters, but it sounded completely natural. Smooth speaking, emotions, a wonderful presentation of this book.

Secret Baby:
This book really was incredible. It was better than I could’ve imagined. A wonderful second chance, surprise child romance. I absolutely loved these characters and getting to know more of Sweet Water. I’m super pumped for Ford’s story and eagerly anticipating Georgia’s!
Audio addition: This book had the most physical romance (still very clean) of any I’ve heard Dyess read. I was very impressed at how it came across. As always, an audio that caused me to continue to listen (even though I read it earlier this year) rather switch to reading a new book.

Beauty:
I love books with a hint of fairy tale retelling in them and Beauty and the Beast is my favorite of them all! I loved this book. I knew it was going to be good, but wowza was it ever amazing! The background on our two mains was fabulous. I love the double emphasis on the inner rather than outer beauty. Having our second main be a former model was like the icing on a cake. I can't wait to devour the next book!
Audio:
Beauty and the Beast is my favorite fairy tale. I loved that this is a bit of a retelling. The audio was amazing. There were times where I completely forgot that there was only one person speaking! Incredible.

Oh wow! Jessie's written such incredible stories!!

I can't believe I've waited this long to start this series!!! (OK, I have actually already read a couple of books, but when I saw the audio box set, I knew I had to jump on that chance 😍 and oh, wow!) Jessie has written such incredible stories!!

BOOK 1: I loved Palmer and Ames' best friendship. :) Seriously, this one was done so well! I loved that they had known each other since school, yet have been there for each other throughout the years, with him being her rock, home, and safe place. I loved how it takes seeing him with other women to make Ames realize her feelings for Palmer. Oh, and their chemistry? It was off the charts yet thoroughly sweet and swoony and sigh-worthy. I definitely love the community, both the intrigue surrounding Louise's past, the grandparents, and the people of Sweet Water we get to see. As always, there are plenty of farm life anecdotes going around, and the love of the land is pretty much palpable. Seriously, now I want to visit North Dakota and experience the vast blue sky. :)

Jay is as great as ever bringing to life all the characters and their voices (from kids to grandparents and male and female adults alike). Having listened to other of his (more recent) audiobooks I can understand when the author said this was part of the first work Jay did for her, but not in a "he was bad at the beginning" kind of way, but rather a "he was good when he started and has gotten even better with time" way. Loved all the emotions he evoked and I can't wait to listen to the rest of the series. 💕 ~ 5+ stars!

BOOK 2: The Cowboy's Secret Baby was the best! This is one of those tropes I'm never sure if I'll like, but I loved Jessie's take on it. Granted, I had already been hooked on Louise's mysterious past from the previous book and the big enigma of who the father of her baby was, so to get to see her POV and how everything happened, was definitely great. :) As for Ty, he was so sweet! I loved him as a hero, and how he deeply cared for Louise. Their past chemistry is there (Jessie writes the best explosively sweet romance out there, especially considering what's already happened in their past), but these two have a lot of things to talk about, trust to gain from his side, and truth to share from hers. Tella was perfect and I loved how she bonded with Ty, and how she "chose him" on her own. Of course, it's always great to see past characters, and it was nice to know Ames and Palmer are still going strong, and how everything unfolded concerning their grandparents.

Jay continues to be as great as ever in his performance of every character and their voices. I seriously loved the emotions and the passion between Ty and Louise, the longing, along with the respect and admiration for the other. I definitely can't wait to listen to the rest of the series, especially after that epilogue, and knowing B&tB is my favorite fairytale. ~ 4.75 stars.

BOOK 3: The Cowboy's Beauty was such a sweet read/listening experience! My heart definitely went out to Ford and everything he had been through, and I definitely fell for his pets, as well as his heart for helping and caring about others. Morgan was his perfect complement in this beautiful Beauty and the Beast retelling, and I definitely enjoyed every minute of their getting to know the other below the surface. I loved Jessie's own take on this fairytale retelling, and how she's a model with a degree in astronomy, and he's a reclusive inventor with modern technology. I'd certainly enjoy getting to see Jack in action. :)

As for the narrator, Jay was incredible as always, and I certainly loved not only the voices of each of the characters, and Ford's change from gruff and bitter to hopeful towards the end of the story, but also the added sounds of either Jack's meows or the "ringtones" sounds for an incoming text message.

Overall, this box set is perfect for binging (the start of) this series and you'll certainly want to have the next one queued up to continue with Georgia's story, and Jessie's take on the "sister in love with brother's best friend" trope. ~ 5 stars!
