Publisher's Summary

After a terrorist attack on a reservation in Oregon leaves thousands dead, Jack Sigler, call sign King and his Chess Team - Queen, Rook, Bishop and Knight - must protect the only survivor, thirteen year-old Fiona Lane. When a death in the family pulls King away, and the rest of the team is sent on a mission, Fort Bragg is attacked by a strange and overwhelming force. When the dust settles, Fiona is gone.

But the attack is part of a larger offensive. Around the world the last speakers of ancient languages are being systematically exterminated. As they fight to find the mastermind behind the killings, and Fiona, the team is hunted by strange creatures that defy explanation - living statues, genetically modified monsters and walking megaliths - sent by an enemy from their past. If not stopped, he will be able to remake himself, and the world.

Calling on help from old friends and ancient heroes, the team fights their most desperate battle yet, not just to save the world as we know it, but to rescue a little girl who wants nothing more than to call King Dad.

An ancient tower holds the key to unlocking a horrifying secret hidden within mankind's most antiquated languages. If unlocked, the world as we know it will cease to exist.

Jeremy Robinson's third book in the Jack Sigler series is a rocket-powered thriller, combining high adrenaline action, smart science, ancient legends, and stunning locations.

military stories I've never really interested me. but I can definitely say chess team gets better with each novel. and it's pretty engaging. I'm going to start the next book now.

Threshold

Great book in the series. sadly foul language was being used in this audio book. Thankfully it wasn't a whole lot. This book was a lot more grisly in its detail as well.

Chess team adventure

Robinson has written another fast paced adventure in which super soldiers have to face supernatural forces in order to save the world. After a massacre with a lone survivor King is faced with personal tragedy in which he has no time for because the world has gone to hell. The team is sent out on a mission without King, but he can’t be out done because he has to save Fort Bragg all by himself. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a read/listen in which you can turn the brain off and just relax and have some fun.

Special Ops and Biblical monsters

What’s not to like?
This 3rd Jack Sigler novel continues the tradition of good story telling and narration. Jeremy and Jeffrey make a good team.
Now for a few short stories before book 4.

Another thrilling adventure

Chess team is back…and this time it’s personal! When King’s adoptive daughter is kidnapped by a madman (their old nemesis Richard Ridley) determined to reshape the world, the Chess team sets off after Ridley to take care of him once and for all. Tons of action with a wide array of horrific creatures (Golems, giants Praying Mantis, and more) and a wild story (as all Chess Team novels tend to be). Interesting side note, in addition to being the narrator, Jeffrey Kafer actually makes an appearance as a character in Threshold.

Good listen

I’ve been going through the entire Chess Team/Jack Sigler series. Overall it’s enjoyable. There are some predictable parts, which you know simply because it’s a long running series. I don’t mind that, but others might. There are certain words that I think the author uses too much and while they convey the appropriate meaning, I’d like to see some variety. Perhaps it’s just because most of my recent listens (18+ books) have all been from Jeremy Robinson so I’m starting to pick up on habits. Examples include: cacophony, staccato, find purchase, hale. I still recommend the series.

Great book but the audible structure is bad

The book is great. The narration is great. I really enjoy these books. Now can anyone tell me why the chapter structure is off? I mean 3 chapters in one. You cannot move easily between chapters. You have to scroll in one chapter to reach the actual chapters in between. So if you set the sleep timer you will have a harder time finding your place. But that being said, the book is fun and still worth a credit.

One of my favorite series!

Jeremy Robinson writes a thriller like no other! He's the absolute master at action suspense filled stories. One of my favorite series! Narrator Jeffrey Kafer nails it in his performance.

the myth in the historys

I received this has free copy and it really was good to hear the audio version of a novel from one of my fav series. It gave depth to the power of words when hearing The mother tongue spoken instead of reading it made the thrilling danger of what it can do.

Non Stop Action

Possibly the best Chess team novel yet. Non stop thrill ride, loved it. Again well done to narrator Jeffery Kafer for a job well done.

Really warming to this series

I wasn't quite sure about the first, which I bought on spec, the second I liked much more and this one was even better. Unlike the Joe Ledger series that these are very much akin to, this is very much a continuing narrative rather than distinct stories with common threads.

So much so that these cliffhang at the end of each, well have done so far anyway.

Very enjoyable fantasy adventure and I'll certainly be getting the next one

Well done

An enthralling mystical story. Readers will be involved in the story’s characters and hoping for the success of good guys over the nefarious villains.
Looking forward to reading more.
