Publisher's Summary

What's a girl to do when she finds a sexy giant bathing in the river?

Emelie

Who leaves their girlfriend in the woods after a fight?

My now ex-boyfriend, that’s who. One fight—okay, a big fight—because I found out he was cheating on me while we were camping, and poof! He left me in the woods.

So, I start walking to town, only I get turned around and end up at the river, where I meet Axel. This guy is huge.

With a storm rolling in, I don’t have much choice but to trust him and take shelter in his cabin, since I’ve been walking for hours away from town.

Several days of rain wash out the road and it looks like I’m stuck here with my giant. Only he’s nothing like I thought he’d be. He’s quiet, watchful, smart, and funny.

Axel

I’ve lived alone for years, and I’ve been okay with that—until one day she finds me bathing at the river.

She is small, cute, and talks a lot. I find I don’t mind it.

When the storm washes out the only road into town and she is stranded with me a while longer, I am grateful for more time with her.

I like her in my space. I like showing her what I do, and how I survive out here. I like her in my bed.

After years of living alone, I find little appeal in it anymore.

When her ex-boyfriend shows up at my door, can I convince her to stay?

Can I ask her to give up a life in town for one out here in the mountains with me?

This is a steamy, gentle giant, mountain man romance. No cliff-hangers. As always, there is a satisfying happily ever after.

If you love steamy romances with hot love scenes, mountains, rivers, and mountain men, then this one is for you.

Definitely a great start to a new series!

I actually loved this mountain romance. My only gripe was it wasn't long enough so I could enjoy more heat. Please someone take me to the mountains & just leave me with Axel & I wouldn't complain one bit! Can't wait for the rest of this series to continue! This one added to my favorites!

Don’t bother

Stupid story. Waste of a credit! Just a set up for sex. It was a time waste.

Emily and Axle

This is an Insta Love story. I enjoyed this romance and how can you not fall in love instantly when you find someone who gives you their undivided attention and respect, when no one else has. This takes place in the wilderness area and I thought there could a real scary animal encounter and wilderness event or just a little bit of angst. Narration was good as well. I recommend this book. Good story!💜

This was a good story however given the “mountain man” aspect it kinda seemed a bit too sweet & moved pretty fast.
The storyline was fantastic & made for a little more drama or hate/love trope IMO.
The narration was pretty good but a little choppy but I enjoyed the voices of both narrators very much.
This is book 1 with an HEA and can be read as a standalone.

Female narrator

It’s fairly decent story and I enjoyed it. However, at some point, I started to think that the female narrator must be a computer generated auto voice. The tone of her voice was fine but it seriously sounded like it was a computer reading the book.

Wanted more

Emilie's camping trip didn't turn out as she expected. No fun hikes, romantic evenings snuggling in front of the campfire, or steamy nights in the tent. Instead, she discovered he was cheating and ended up alone, wandering the woods after he left her on the mountain. Lost, she accidentally stumbled across a mountain man bathing in the river. Axel is a loner who intentionally left society years ago. He has made a success of his lonely life but after just one evening with Emilie, he is rethinking his entire world. Is there any chance he can keep her?

A little too heavy on the physical and too light on the emotional. If you are looking for a steamy piece of fluff, this is the book for you. I was a little disappointed because I thought it had the potential to be more. The characters were likable, and the set-up for a survivalist romance was there. Their size differences, their contrasting backgrounds, their unlikely meeting, and the town's and mountain's inhabitants could have been expanded into a real story. And this beautiful title could have been turned into an emotionally moving scene instead of a sex scene that made every reader cringe thinking about the lack of lubrication, poor footing, and invasive river creatures.

Krys Janae and Javi Wilder were the narrators. I love a duel narration. So much better than a female narrator trying to deepen her voice or a male squeaking out the female roles. Krys Janae was a little stilted but she has a pleasant voice. Jai Wilder nicely captured the big mountain man.

oh my lanta!!!!

Where can I get an Axel of my own? I loved this short story. The woman narrator sounded like a robot sometimes but not bad. and the male narrator Javi.... I could listen to his toe curling, gravely, sexy voice all day everyday. I just bought every book he has narrated so far.
This is the first Kaci Rose book I have listen to also. I bought the next book on my kindle and love the next heroine's name, Jenna. And when it comes out on audible I hope Javi is the voice for Phenoix. And this Jenna 🙋‍♀️ can pretend she is with Phenoix.
But, overall I loved this book. Fast passed and a lot of love and a lot of man.

My Thoughts on Take Me to the River

This was a pretty good introduction story for me to this author. It was entertaining enough to hold my interest and had a really interesting storyline along with good characters. For me personally, there was a scene or two that was a little too descriptive of the hunting process for non-hunters in a romance novel. And it had an insta-love feel when you think about the short amount of time the main characters knew each other. But it also wasn’t cringe worth about it. Axel, the leading man, definitely lived up to the nickname he was given by the leading lady of gentle giant. He was kind and always conscious of his size so extra careful to be gentle. He and leading lady, Emelie, seemed perfectly suited for each other. She may have begun the story in a rough situation, with a rough childhood, and even continued to have unexpected moments of distress, but she remained strong and open to seeing Axel for who he was and what he and his world had to offer her. Overall, I found this to be a very sweet story with excellent narration choices that heightened my enjoyment, and I would be curious to check out the next book if it ever comes to audio.

A gorgeous mountain man?

Emelie has an awful boyfriend, but when she gets lost in the woods and there is a gorgeous man bathing in the river who wants to be find lol I enjoyed listening to this romance with a kind man looking after her. Axel is super protective and caring but also very sexy. Good narration and hours of entertainment.

First time listened/read this author and it was easy to listen to.

I felt at time like she was immature and I also wasn’t keen on their nicknames for each other but I liked the book overall and I wanted to find out about the other characters

Sweet romance

This story was very sweet. I love an overprotective man and this one didn’t disappoint. Emily and Axel and so sweet together and I liked how they took care of each other. The story is a bit over the top but what good mountain man story isn’t?
Definitely recommend.

Simply wonderful!

Who says you can't judge a book by its cover? Initially, the cover drew me to this book, and it turned out to be fabulous. Take Me to the River was a fantastic listen. The story is wonderfully written and plotted; it's engaging, entertaining, heartfelt, and steamy. It was simply wonderful! Thanks to her cheating boyfriend, Emelie is lost in the woods. She is then found and rescued by a large and ruggedly attractive mountain man, Axel. Axel is a lonely man, living in isolation, building a solitary life for himself, and believing remaining alone is his fate. The connection between them was electrifying, and the attraction was undeniable.

Krys Janae and Javi Wilder did an outstanding job with the narration. They emulated the characters' personalities and emotions flawlessly, breathing life into the story. Take Me to the River is a wonderfully written story; I enjoyed the plot, cast, and narration. I'm definitely recommending this audiobook.

Mountain

I loved the dual narration of Krys Janae and Javi Wilder

Emelie is with are very soon to be ex boyfriend on a camping trip. Where she realises he has been cheating and then , while she goes for a walk , he packs up the camp and leaves her . While looking for the road and taking a couple of wrong turns she comes across a sexy mountain man .
Axel lives on the mountain to , believing he will always be my himself. That is until a woman comes across in washing in the river and asking for help. A storm has them spending time together at his cabin, will he be able to convince her that when the storm leaves, she doesn’t have to?
Axel shows Emilie what love truly is and seeing the romance between them is everything you could ask for and more. These two are made for each other.
I just had to close my ears off when they went hunting...

amazing

I enjoyed this story of Axel and Emelie. great story line characters. almost felt a old historical type romance. I do feel there was some overkill or fluff. kept repeating things over.

the narrators were both new to me.. they were amazing. great job on characters.

Heck yeah take me to the river!

Let me start off by saying this cover is what dreams are made of 😍

I searched, right off the bat, for more audiobooks books by Kaci Rose. I loved the start of this series. Kaci is new to me and I can’t wait for more of this series.

Emelie is just getting started on a camping trip with her boyfriend when she discovers his infidelity. After confronting him, she does what any of us girls would do. Takes a walk to figure out what to do about it. And he leaves her there without anything 😳

I can’t fathom any guy just up and leaving any woman alone in the woods. WTH but thankfully as a storm approaches after trying to find a road out of the wilderness she happens to come across a man bathing in the river.

I live close to the Rocky Mountains and let’s just say, boyyo if I came across a mountain man who was ready to save me, sign me up!

Axel can’t believe his eyes when a beautiful woman stumbles upon him but he knows he has to protect her.

He’s totally a real mountain man, living off the land yet with knowledge enough to build himself a real life. He has a well built home, is self sufficient and has ways to make a living off the land he loves and with friends nearby he thinks he will be alone forever, but when Amelie enters his world he hopes he can convince her to try his lifestyle too.

These two were meant for each other. I loved the flow of this book how Emelie responds to Axel. He was awesome at helping her realize what she wants out of life. I loved how they accepted each other and respected one another too.

This was an easy listen but I didn’t want their story to end. And can’t wait to hear more about Axel’s friends in Whiskey River.

The audiobook is what pulled me into the book. The actors sounded what I envisioned for the characters and I fell in love with them both.

This was a pretty entertaining listen. The story was quick, but did not feel rushed. The narrators were on point with their performance, and fit the story and dialogue well. The characters were fun to get to know and made the story.
