Publisher's Summary

Tess Knox’s wedding day was the happiest day of her life. Her best friend Marissa, who had been by her side since forever, was right beside her on her big day. Tess knew that if there was one thing she could depend on, she could depend on Marissa’s loyalty and love. Their friendship meant the world to Tess, ever since she lost both of her parents a year ago. Marissa had been her rock. She even introduced her to the man she would marry.

Amiri Knox came into Tess’ life and took her heart by a storm. He was her knight in shining armor. He completed her, and she completed him. But there was something Tess didn’t know about those closest to her. Nothing could have prepared her for a dark secret that was hidden by Amiri and Marissa’s smiles. This secret will have Tess struggling to salvage the crumpled pieces of her heart.

Jake Weaver lives a carefree life trying to right the wrongs of the justice system. He doesn’t mind complicating things if it’s worth it. When he sees a gorgeous lady walk out of Lexington Enterprises looking torn, he knows she’s worth risking it all. A man comes running after her, trying to talk to her, and Jake figures the man is the cause of her pain, so he steps in to help.

Once Jake finds out what Tess’ husband has done to hurt her, it’s game over. She’s his for the taking, and Jake has every intention to get what he wants.

I like high drama & I didnt find much here.

Ordinarly I live a quiet live, so when I pick up a fictional book I want it to be overly dramatized. Why, because I turn into a high leveled drama queen, and can spot messy a long ways off, but these characters were so typical. Oh it started high drama, & then it seemed to just flattens out, in other words the spark started flickering out in the parking lot.

I must have missed why Tess' parent were so adamant about not selling the beach house , 1st I thought a treasure was secretly buried there or 2nd it was a place where spirits visited. I'll revisit that part.

Some of the incidents were awkward, which is expected, but the main character's responses to such incidents were flat, like really are you on medication lady. The couple sounded like they were happy with one another, but once again the story was choppy.

Hook up central

With friends like Marissa, who needs enemies. Then to add insult to injury she keeps trying to explain away her lack of loyalty. smh. So many characters without morales or integrity made me sick. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator was okay but didn't even differentiate her voices of the two racially different men. She made Jake sound like he came out of Compton. smh.

Engaging light read

"Taken by the Billionaire: A BWWM Romance" (2018, 2020) by Shani Greene-Dowdell is an engaging, light read about Tess, a Black woman managing a profoundly broken heart, and Jake, a White man who doesn’t know the father who turned his back on him after he was born is a billionaire. Jake pursues Tess, but she’s reluctant to get involved in another romance. No great prose displayed, but I grew to care about what happens between the two, Robyn Isaacs reads both male and female characters well. Solidly recommended. At my request, I was given this free audiobook and have voluntarily left this review.

I loved this sweet story!

This an engaging, sweet BWWM romance. Tess discovers her husband had been betraying her for years, and a chance encounter with Jake sets them both on a path of healing and hope. Their instant attraction feels real, including Tess’ hesitance to jump too quickly when dealing with the heartbreak of a failed marriage. I listened straight through, I loved this book so much.

Good story

I didn’t read the description as well as I should so I was confused about the title until the end. I was happy with the storyline and the HEA.

No cliffhanger.
