Publisher's Summary

Tara: I was supposed to be in charge. That was always my intention. Until that slick corporate raider, Ethan Bradford, clicked his fancy pen and poof! Just like that, I was under him, instead of on top. Rich and powerful men - especially arrogant, handsome ones - are all the same. I know exactly how to handle him, but when my father pulls rank and orders me to play nice, my plans of putting him in his place vanish. I know his type. I've been around men like him my entire life, but one chance meeting with him and his son, makes me question everything I thought I knew.

Ethan: When it comes to business, I always come out on top. Not even being a single dad can slow me down. I never let a good investment get away, and that includes Taylor Toys. After all, business is business, right? How was I supposed to know a friendly meeting would set me on fire? Tara Taylor is a spoiled princess, used to getting everything she wants. Sure, her good looks and smart mouth turn me on like nothing else. Despite her hostile stares, she triggered feelings I thought were long dead. She dares to judge me while she stands there in her designer shoes, looking more beautiful than any marketing exec I've ever met. Instead of being grateful that I saved her family's legacy, she blames me for their failure.

Contains mature themes.

Troy should have done it solo

Love this author and love this book! This is my third favourite book from this author and she is absolutely one of my favourites, but the female narrator about took me out. The narrator sounded southern, and sorry, a little old. She did not sound like a young New Yorker, she didn’t sound like she was from Harlem, and she definitely didn’t sound like Tara Taylor. Do I recommend this book? Absolutely! Do I recommend the audible? I’ll just say read the book first, because it will definitely give you a better experience.

The female narrator

I love Troy Duran. BUT Dorothy Ramsay? I'm sorry. She was the worst female narrator I've ever heard. She really did ruin the book for me. She does not match what I envision as Tara. Her voice is cackly and she sounds like Wacky Duck. I can't see Tara as beautiful and sexy as she is described by Ethan with a voice like the narrators. I think you should pull this version and redo it with a different female narrator. Other than that, I like the story line and Ethan's character (and voice) was the only thing that kept me wanting to listen.

Great story

I’m definitely a fan of Evelyn Sola’s stories and Troy’s narration. But I struggled with Dorothy’s voice. I prefer Mari

Just Okay.

Usually I like the books Evelyn Sola writes, but this one will have to be my least favorite. The book was okay, it was just few things I wasn't feeling. For one, they wore out the word pussy. It was like Ethan couldn't say it enough. And also with the step mother they kept referring her to the evil one. Every now and then they will say her name, but after a while it was getting on my nerves. Although Ethan had a lot of good traits, he seems to not understand boundaries and is a tad bit pushy. I do wish there could have been a build up with Ethan and Tara characters. Like the first 3 or 4 chapters they did not like each other and in the next second their a overnight couple. Troy is a great narrator which made me choose this book, but the female narrator I felt like she may have been the wrong choice for Tara. She's not a bad narrator, but I didn't feel like she should be the voice of Tara tho. But overall the story wasn't that bad tho.

Sooooo goood!

I honestly thought this story was going to be too long or plagued with redundancies. NOPE! It was so good and the length was perfect. I loved the characters and how they grew. Tara and Ethan’s love was so awesome. I’m grateful their attraction didn’t drag out as most enemies to lovers stories go. Definitely looking forward to Colton n Vicki’s story. I know it’s coming!

where is MARI???

Not a fan of Dorothy as a voice actress. There are some black female voice actress that will fit the persona of a wealthly New Yorker. I have the kindle version of this book as well, it is a cute story.

Very Enjoyable!

I was very involved in this story, I felt like it was easy to listen to and follow for me around my down time. At first I wasn’t sure about the female narrators voice if I thought it would fit but then it became apart of Tara which made her more realistic. I look forward to listening to more of this author’s work!

So good!

New author for me. Multicultural romance. OMG the back and forth smack talk between these two, even during sex, is hilarious 😂 and kinda hot 🤔 LOVED THIS! Tara is such a take no sh*t badass and Ethan is all for it 🤣
Warning for evil ex wife, she will piss you off!

Recognisable Script

There was not anything horrible about the story or the narration. I suppose it was predictable. There were some moments of promise early on, but then, no, I found it was the same well-traversed story/persona pathway. I repeatedly paused throughout this read to delve into other books. This audible was okay, you know. The male narrator was good. The female narrator was mildly irritating at times, but I think it might have been more a function of the script.

Far Too long!!

I have to confess I bought this book solely because it was narrated by Troy Duran and he can do no wrong in my eyes.

In simple terms Ethan takes over Tara's father's firm in which she works and she's very angry about it. She's a petulant brat and he's chauvinististic, but hot! Anyway, their banter is fun and eventually they get together.

His son, Vincent, is a delight and her tightnit family are lovely, but the ex wife is horrendous!

The only complaint that I have is it is far too long for a romance with no story. I'm 80% in, nothing has changed, the story is boring, going nowhere, so I have lost the will to live. Troy couldn't even save the day!

As I always say, less is more!!
