Reasons why I should not be drawn to Troy Serrano. Number one: He’s obnoxious. Number two: We were enemies more than a decade ago. Number three: He’s my friend’s ex-boyfriend. I could go on and on, really. When my boss gives me an unwanted assignment, and tells me it involves spending time with the grandson of one of our residents, the grandson turns out to be Troy. Lucky me. Four hours a week of having to deal with his insufferable personality and unsolicited advice - the only consolation is getting to stare at his annoyingly gorgeous face, in between our many arguments.

The first time I met Merrick Crawford was during my job interview. Well, technically, I’d met him 20 minutes earlier when he’d barged into a fitting room a few doors down from my appointment. I yelled. He yelled. After an argument while standing in my bra, I proceeded to smash the door into the gorgeous jerk, trying to yank it shut. As you might imagine, I was freaked out when I discovered that the rude guy was my potential new boss. Yet he didn’t seem to recognize me. Or so I thought.... Until we wound up bickering again during my interview and he told me to go sniff my armpit.

It was just a typical Monday. Until the big boss asked me to make the pitch for a prospective new client. After two years on shaky ground at work because of my screw up, an opportunity to impress the senior partners was just what I needed. Or so I thought, until I walked into the conference room and collided with the man I was supposed to pitch to. My coffee spilled, my files tumbled to the ground, and I almost lost my balance. And that was the good part of my day. Because the gorgeous man who crouched down and looked at me like he wanted to eat me alive was none other than my ex.

The first time I met Caine West was in a bar. He noticed me looking his way and mistakenly read my scowling as checking him out. When he attempted to talk to me, I set him straight -- telling him what I thought of his lying, cheating, egomaniacal ass. You see, the gorgeous jerk had wined and dined my best friend-smooth talking her into his bed, all along failing to mention that he was married. He deserved every bit of my tongue-lashing and more for what he'd done.

Bennett Fox walked into my life on one hell of a crappy Monday morning. I was late for the first day at my new job - a job I’d now have to compete for, even though I’d already worked eight years to earn it, because of an unexpected merger. While I lugged my belongings up to my new office, a meter maid wrote me a parking summons. She’d ticketed a long line of cars - except for the Audi parked in front of me, which happened to be the same make and model as mine. Annoyed, I decided to regift my ticket to the car that had evaded a fine.

It started out like any normal day. Then the fender bender happened. The guy I collided with drove an expensive car and was drop-dead gorgeous. Too bad he was also a total jerk. We argued over whose fault it was and any other thing that came out of his condescending mouth. Eventually, the police came and we went our separate ways. The insurance companies would have to figure things out. I had a job interview to get to anyway - one I was excited about. Though that excitement changed to disappointment the moment the person interviewing me walked in. The guy from the accident.

With a famous NHL player for a stepbrother, Violet Hall is well acquainted with the playboy reputation of many a hockey star. So of course she isn't interested in legendary team captain Alex Waters or his pretty, beat-up face and rock-hard six-pack abs. Publisher's Summary
In New York Times bestselling author Emma Chase's sizzling and hilarious debut novel, Drew Evans - gorgeous, arrogant, irreverent, and irresistibly charming - meets his match in new colleague Kate Brooks.
Drew Evans is handsome and arrogant, he makes multimillion dollar business deals and seduces New York's most beautiful women with just a smile. So why has he been shuttered in his apartment for seven days, miserable and depressed? He'll tell you he has the flu. But we all know that's not really true.
Katherine Brooks is brilliant, beautiful and ambitious. When Kate is hired as the new associate at Drew's father's investment banking firm, every aspect of the dashing playboy's life is thrown into a tailspin. The professional competition she brings is unnerving, his attraction to her is distracting, his failure to entice her into his bed is exasperating.
Tangled is not your mother's romance audiobook. It is an outrageous, passionate, witty narrative about a man who knows a lot about women…just not as much as he thinks. As he tells his story, Drew learns the one thing he never wanted in life, is the only thing he can’t live without.

And Now For Something Completely Different
Since I usually give romance novels close to failing grades (except for Sandra Brown's Rainwater and Linda Winstead Jones' Raintree: Haunted) why would I give this one a 5 Star rating? The same rating as I would give The Beautiful Ruins, the Book Thief, the Book of Unholy Mischief? Well, that would be comparing apples and oranges so it isn't a fair comparison.
However, as a Romance novel, this one stands out far above all others!
The key difference is that the protagonist is male and he narrates the story to the reader/listener as if in casual conversation. And the dialogue is definitely male--locker room style, blunt, crude and perfect for the story. It is so on the mark, I have trouble realizing that it is written by a woman.
All the characters are colorful, entertaining and totally different than those found in ordinary romance stories.
Great find. I just can't figure out how the author will follow up on this one, much less top it but I'm ready to find out!

Think Wallbanger meets Beautiful Bastard....
Amazing. A must-listen. This was fan freaking fantastic!! So refreshing, very entertaining and so much fun! This was the perfect blend of wit, humor, sarcasm, romance and all things sexy sexy sexy. Drew Evans is used to getting everything he wanted and enjoying life of a single good-looking bachelor. The story is told through his POV. I was actually fond of Drew's inner thoughts and even thought some of it was pretty hilarious too. Drew is a womanizer who is happy with his life. He doesn't want to have a relationship ever. Yep, he is a man-whore. Plus, he can be crude, crass, and vulgar. Regardless of all those delightful traits, you still can't help but fall for him in the end. Drew is an extra confident person so when out one night & he meets a woman he wants and cannot get, he is just not willing to accept it. What is even more unexpected for him is finding her the next day in his office being introduced as his new colleague. Actually, she is his competition. Kate was also awesome character. If you like strong heroines, you will LOVE Kate. She is smart, confident, sassy and absolutely determined not to become another notch on Drew’s bed post. She has plans, dreams, goals and no time for a playboy. She was able to keep up with Drew all the time, matched his determination, even outsmarted him at times. Their banter was just priceless! Tangled was essentially an enemies-to-lovers story about guy falling in love for the first time with a girl who goes toe-to-toe with him on everything. I loved watching them work through their issues. And when Drew finally decides to fight for Kate’s heart, the lengths to which he goes are just awesome! I must say this was one of the most enjoyable books for me this year. And that is saying something because I've finished a LOT! I really hope this author will write more books in future.
I wasn't expecting the book to have me laughing so much. It was hilarious! I still have a goofy smile on my face.

I would LOVE to get Tangled up with Drew - So HOT!
Any additional comments?
I was hooked from the first line and smiling wide by the end of the first page. If you are a fan of enemies-to-lovers stories, you will LOVE Tangled! I swear half my book is highlighted. I laughed out loud, grinned till my cheeks ached and just generally loved it :)
The story is about Drew. In real life, Drew is a clean-shaven, well-groomed, expensive suit wearing professional. But, at the start of the story, he’s a miserable un-showered, un-shaven yeap locked in a messy apartment overflowing with old pizza boxes while claiming to have the flu. - Right.......What he really has is a bad case of the Break Up........ See Real Life Drew was once a player. Why settle for one when there were so many willing ones tripping over themselves to be with him.
But he’s fallen in love. Finally. Problem is, she’s getting married… to someone else. Hence the miserable, moping, un-shaved heap. This is his story....... It starts off going back in time to when they first met. Drew meets Kate at a club one night and, despite the flirting, she walks away. When Kate gets hired by his office, it puts him in a frustrating situation because office romances are on his no-no list.
We are told the story by Drew. He can be a bit of an asshat but you really just can’t help falling for him – he’s that lovable. He both narrates the events and breaks the 4th wall by talking directly to us as the reader. It’s totally awesome! This is such a Smart and fun listen that i find my mind keeps wondering back to it. It's one of those books you just can't forget... I can't wait for the next in this Sexy series. :)

Was this written by a male, 90's comedian?
Pass. I think there are plenty of people who will enjoy Tangled and the competitive back and forth between the male and female lead. But for me, the male lead was...just such an asshole, and the entire book is from his perspective so I could not escape his glib one-liners. It's a lot of "Women be like" sort of jokes, advice and quips and...maybe it's a generational thing but I just don't find office sexual harassment cute at all.

If only there were more stars to give!
This has to be one of the best Romantic Comedies I have ever listened to. It is told completely from Drew's point of view... It was like you were just hanging out with him on the couch as he tells you his story. I laughed so hard ... one of those not so cute laughs with snorts and tears kind of funny. And Sebastian York was FABULOUS... totally believable. I just loved it! I just wish I had 5 more stars to add and give this book a perfect 10!

Horrible narcissism! Beware.
I rarely write full reviews, but I feel compelled to warn people about this book. Manipulation is not sexy. A strong woman does not put up with blatant stalking and sexual harassment because the man has lots of money.
I absolutely realize this is supposed to be a romance novel, but if the lead male character is what the author truly thinks is a stereotypical man, I feel sorry for her. If her goal was to make me hate this man, she succeeded. He never once learned from his behavior. He bullied and pressured the love interest into furthering a horrible relationship. Nothing about this book is sexy. Most men do not think or behave this way, and this behavior should not be just accepted.
I realize I sound like a sjw. I usually don't identify as a feminist, but this book sent me over the edge. I am more appalled at the disparaging portrayal of the "typical man" than I am at the weakness of the woman. I usually enjoy a light romance novel in between my sci-fi/mysteries, but this book just made me see red. If I could give it zero stars, I would.

Major disappointment
I'll start with the positive - the narrator's voice is lovely. His Irish accent is terrible, but that's such a small part, it barely matters.
The story is horrible. If it was from the heroine's point of view, this book might not be as problematic, but since we're treated to every sexist, misogynistic thought in the "I know what she wants, even if she doesn't" protagonist's head, it's an absolute nightmare.
The writing wasn't bad. The dialogue was good and felt natural for the most part, but there is nothing sympathetic in Drew. He's just a spoiled child masquerading as an alpha male. I made it through to the end, hoping for some redemption but in the end, he's still the same immature manchild that we met at the beginning of the book.
Really disappointing.

A+++++++ for narration by Sebastian York
I loved this book, Sebastian York’s sexy voice really bought Drew Evans character to life. Lots of laugh out loud moments and I had a massive grin on my face the whole time I was listening. Good on you Drew - you finally got your girl.

Awesome, my first Emma Chase Book
This book was awesome. I love this book because it so different from a mans point of view. You may not agree with Drew's point of view on any subject but you will laugh.
Drew is a investment banker in New York. It's a family business for Drew, his family and friends. He loves is job and his playboy lifestyle. That was until he meets Kate in REM. He wants Kate but she will not play his game.
Kate comes from Ohio and has studied hard to be a investment banker. She will not let Drew ruin her plans for her and her family. Kate has dated Billy since she was 15 years old. She is happy, so she thinks?
Will Drew get his way? Will either find true love or just happiness?
I would recommend this book and I can't wait for Twisted and Tamed!!

original and laugh out loud funny
I love Sebasian York's narrating anyway and combined with this story it was one of the best I have listened to. Written from the male perspective which is refreshing and talking to you as a reader too. I went through laughter, dismay, anger and relief - loved it!!!

I should hate this...
Full of misogynistic statements. With a lead character who won't respect the boundaries of the woman he's chasing after. Some lines really did make the feminist in me uncomfortable. But, is also very funny, very sexy and feels quite fresh, given the male perspective.
The only reason this isn't 5 stars for all things is because of a quirk of the writing style. It was often hard to work out what was internal dialogue and what had actually been spoken out loud. Which can obviously change a lot about a scene.

Cliche ridden
What would have made Tangled better?
I would have enjoyed this more if it wasn't so cliche ridden - and that's saying something for a genre where that's expected to a certain degree. The stories about Drew's past that are meant to enhance the plot and deepen our understanding of him were so intrusive as to be irritating. That they entirely lacked depth made them even more so
What was most disappointing about Emma Chase’s story?
The narrator and lead character was shallow and unlikable throughout, poorly developed beyond the most obvious cliches. And Drew having sex with twins? It was supposed to make him appear more virile, but incest? Really?
Any additional comments?
That it descends to stalking, doesn't a romance make

The guy was such a pig I didn't even make it out of the second chapter. If you aren't paying then give it a go but it wasn't worth the credit I used on it.

TOTAL 5 STARS PLUS...!
Never read a book from the male perspective but the author did a great job of this story & Sebastian narrated it more than very awesome. Had me in fits of giggles at times - Drew was so cocky, also, touch of sad at other times too. Great job author & narrator.
Hope the follow ups are as good.

Story
When spontaneous and carefree meets cautious and responsible, falling in love can get just a little Twisted
There are two kinds of people in this world: the ones who look first, and the ones who leap. I’ve always been more of a looker. A planner. Cautious. Then I met Drew Evans. He was so persistent. So sure of himself. He made it easy to leap with him.
Did you think Drew and I were going to ride off into the sunset and live happily ever after? So did I. But life is about choices, and Drew already made his. In fact, he tried to decide for the both of us—but you know that’s not my style. So I came back to Greenville, to spend some time alone . . . sort of.
Because old habits die hard, and sometimes you have to go back to where you began before you can move ahead again.

I'm used to being in charge. In and out of the office. So, when my parents go behind my back and hire a co-CEO to help me manage my family's business, let's just say I don't take it too well. Especially not when the woman they've hired is the one girl who hated my guts in college. She thinks I'm an overprivileged, womanizing man-whore. I think she's an uptight, stuck-up bitch. And now she's here, in my office, telling me how to run my company. I don't think so.

Célian Laurent. Manhattan royalty. Notorious playboy. Heir to a media empire...and my new boss. I could have impressed him, if not for last month's unforgettable one-night stand. I left it with more than orgasms and a pleasant memory - namely, his wallet. Now he's staring me down like I'm the dirt under his Italian loafers, and I'm supposed to take it. But the thing about being Judith "Jude" Humphry is I have nothing to lose. Brooklyn girl. Infamously quirky. Heir to a stack of medical bills and a tattered couch.

Story
I first met William McAlister when I was just a teenager. He was handsome, had a beautiful wife, and was on the verge of success, having just joined my father as his business partner. Mr. McAlister was full of smooth charm, but back then he was barely a blip on my radar. Just a family friend. Fast forward 10 years: I'm 25-years-old and a single mom trying to make things right for her seven-year-old son. I've made some mistakes, grappled with my demons, and now I'm back in the city of Vancouver, getting a second chance at a better life.
