Publisher's Summary

Off-limits never looked so tempting.

Levi Cade’s firefighting career burned up after an accident on the job. Then his father died and left him in charge of the family’s multimillion-dollar resort. Now he’s forced to work with financially uptight advisors telling him what to do, and he needs someone he can trust at his side.

The perfect candidate walks through the door in her pencil skirt, fitted white blouse, and a mass of wavy blond hair she tries to contain.

The only problem? She’s his cheating ex’s younger sister.

Hell no. The last thing Levi needs is another Wright female in his life.

Then again, he always liked playing with fire.

Book is ok, narration bothered me a little...

Zachary Webber Is awesome and there’s not enough of his narration in this book! The female narrator was OK but it was a big contrast when it went between the narration. After listening more and more to audible, I’m really struggling with some female romance narrators. I do like this Susannah’s narration and I can certainly tolerate her more than Erin Mallon and a few others and I feel like if she had read this solo it would have been fine, however I would have missed out on one of my favorite male narrator’s.

As a side note, I will not listen to many of Zachary Webber’s romance books because he is paired with Erin Mallon. I just cannot take her over pronunciation. #Valleygirl

The book itself was good. Little bit of love triangle that a younger version of myself would have had no part of but it was a decent story.

storyline is getting stale

I find this is getting super repetitive. I will try the next book but this one was lame.

A little frustrating

Levi's firefighter career ended when he was injured in a fire and lost a little of his peripheral eyesight - nothing major in normal life, but enough to bench him for life in the Fire Department. With the death of his father, Levi is appointed in the will as the new manager of their luxury hotel/resort Club Tahoe. He's still trying to find his footing when his trusted (actually his father's) PA retires and in comes Emily (who was also appointed for the job by his father's last wishes). The only problem - Emily is Lisa's sister, Levi's ex, who cheated on him with his own brother!

Emily has always had a little crush on Levi and now years later she sees herself working side by side with the man who she still finds irresistible. Will Levi ever see her as anyone other than Lisa's baby sister?

I have to say that I listened to the audiobook and that kind of saved the book for me. Even though this is book 1 in a series (and it's clearly stated that they all can be read as standalones), it felt like there was so much backstory that happened prior to this book that maybe we needed a prequel. Also, when the MCs get together there's really not much development in their story. To be honest, not even conflict, except for Levi's hesitancy in pursuing Emily. Even Lisa is on board with it and encourages Emily...

We keep trying to figure out what the hell happened with the father, between the brothers, with Lisa... and are left with no answers.

There is a tiny subplot about embezzlement happening at the resort and I think it was solved in one chapter!

It had a lot of promise but it didn't deliver. It's not bad writing, just frustrating AF. Since I have all the audiobooks I will continue with the series to see if I can put the pieces together by the end. (plus it's no hardship to listen to Zachary Webber... lol)

Narration: Zachary Webber (yeah yeah yeah, you already know he's my favorite) and Susannah Jones saved the day and I am glad they narrate all the other books in the series.

Possible Triggers: cheating (not main characters), sibling rivalry and animosity, mention of fire incidents

Good but not amazing

Good writing, just not my style. I could easily put this book down. The voices were great. And I liked Emily. The brothers crazy lust for women isn't appiling to me. I probably won't buy the other books.

Wow

Just loved it. The two and through from him got a bit much, but then that added to the fact that she had to break down his wall. And she did. Was a great read.
Now I have to read the series. Great job.
Narration was awesome too.
