Story
Armageddon Day. That is how history will remember the date when two Overlords clashed amidst the war-torn streets of New Whitehall. The disastrous duel its explosive conclusion wreaked heavy casualties on the two armies present, rendering both the Ishigar Republic and the Lodrak Empire unable to continue to fight. And yet, it was no stalemate. With one Hero defeated and another revealed, the balance of power is sure to shift in the elvish nation’s favor.

Story
A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

Accidentally murdered by a cleric in another universe during a botched resurrection, Arnold, a semi-pro gamer, wakes upon an altar to find himself incarnated into the overweight body of a farmer who could have been his fatter twin. He’s not the hero. He’s not the villain. He’s certainly not the chosen one who is there to save the world. He’s a clerical error. It could be a bad joke, but apparently, it happens so often that they have a standard procedure for returning you.

After his town is put to the sword and the children are taken to replace the fallen, an old man is out for revenge. He’s ready to fail at the most difficult challenge in the world: cultivation. Too corrupted to even take the first steps, the sly old elder simply agreed with those who told him that it was impossible. Publisher's Summary
The war is in full swing. Following the unprecedented outcome of the siege at Fort Yimin, both the Republic and the Empire are forced to drastically reevaluate their plans for the conflict. With matters on the western front more or less settled for the moment, the warring nations turn their attention toward the eastern theatre. Winter looms on the horizon, threatening to deadlock the region and put a temporary halt to hostilities. With both sides planning to deploy bold and unconventional strategies on top of committing vast resources, it’s anyone’s guess which of them will come out on top.
Indeed, neither government is shying away from resorting to underhanded, questionable, or downright amoral means. The Gilded Hand has been stepping up their efforts to further Spymaster Edward Allen’s schemes. The Empire’s intelligence agency is also looking to field its most powerful enforcers in the coming battles. The Republic’s Foreign Intelligence Bureau is having a hard time keeping up, but they are not without their own dirty tricks. Rumors within the royal palace of the Horkensaft Kingdom to the east suggest that the dwarves and gnomes are on the verge of aiding the elven nation. Something that wouldn’t have been made possible without the Republic’s deep coffers, and the less-than-reputable individuals that fill them.
Boxxy T. Morningwood isn’t one of those shady contributors. If anything, it’s been steadily draining the government’s resources as it forces them to pay exorbitant fees to resolve issues that the monster itself creates. A trend it plans to keep following for as long as it can lie, cheat, and murder its way through life.
Which, barring something ridiculous like divine intervention, is poised to be a very long time indeed.
Content warning: Profanity, gore, violence, explicit adult content.

If you read the first 4 Books or Audiobooks you know what to expect and yes this one is at least as good as the first four. The Story moves along in a nice pace and the Voice Cast is, once again, perfect. If you liked the the first Books you will love this one as well.

Partial comeback from book 4
This book is a decent rebound from the fourth book.
The narration seemed to actually get a bit worse for some reason. The male voices were all pretty similar, while not being a normal voice. They were all gruff like the spy master of previous books.
The story itself was better than book four, but not as good as the first three. There's more of the pointless conflict around sexuality that the fourth book had, but much less of it. It doesn't fit the story at all and completely ruins the flow. It seems clear that it was thrown in either as poorly made propaganda to support the author's political/world views, or as pathetic pandering to sell books. Any author who can make a violent, abusive sexual relationship between a hermaphrodite fiend and masochistic succubus seem normal could do a much better job with something as simple as a lesbian relationship.
The overall comedy is still lacking compared to the first three books. In return there's a little more plot, but not much. A lot of time is wasted trying to build up the story, but never delivering too much. Pointless interactions that merely fill time, never adding any entertainment or developing the characters. Meanwhile Boxxy's new (potential) allies and the Goddess Teresa herself get far less time than they should.

great book, outstanding narration/production
An excellent follow on to the series with Boxy T Morningwood developing his emotional range following the tail end of last novels massacre. This book sees more of the deities come into play, some shady organisations and more of the wonderful dark humour that keeps listeners coming back to this series. Phenomenal narration and production effects, Jeff, Annie and Soundbooth really deliver. Hilarious post novel credits, worth it just to listen to those.

Music and sound effects adds SO MUCH!
If you’re this far into the series, you know what it’s about. If you haven’t read/heard any of it... trigger warnings, not for kids, etc.
Despite the above, I really like this series, particularly Morgana (Book 4). Morgana seems like the point in which Iliev ranked up his [author] job and this book is a strong sequel.
Normally I avoid abridged audiobooks like the plague, preferring pure narration. This isn’t actually abridged, but it carries many of the trappings you’d expect.
That said, the music and sound effects make the whole book more engaging without detracting from the narration at all.
This has become my gold standard for production quality. Well done production team. Audible now needs a third rating category for production quality.

Many cool moments but not enough cohesion.
The killing intent and powerful past enemies chasing after boxy with the clear lack of tension and stakes made this the worst book so far imo.
The distinct juggling between normal enemies and divine enemies, overlords and such. while still expecting the reader to keep the tension is pretty bad.
The hero encounter at the end came out of nowhere and was pretty unsatisfying and the way the goddess corruption was explained looked like it came from the traveling dungeon and the cure was the end of the kingsman.
not a very tasty listen.

Great good, Bad Direction
Please, please don't spend 5-6 chapter strait on side characters. Going from the little chest and the mithril golem. please try to keep focus on the MC. I understand world building but we are 5 books in. I'm here for main character development not 30 mins about a gnome using holy light 3 different ways.

The only thing I have to say about the book and audio is Amazeballs. Thanks Neven, Jeff, Annie, Justin and Soundbooth Audio. This kind of content is tasty and shiny. GET!

Getting better and better!
I enjoy getting to know the various characters around Boxy T Morningwood as we follow Fizzy, the demons, Ambrosia and Rowie. But the best part of this story is the way the audio has been recorded. The various voice actors are so talented. The sound effects add a lot as well. Well done!

boxxy back at it
is it tasty? Yes, yes it is. Another great reading following on the series. if i had to pick something negative, the overlords voice was a bit hard to understand. Still great job and a great read/listen
