Publisher's Summary

Young Billie Ames naively fell for the exciting pilot Moss Coleman at the Philadelphia Navy Yard during World War II. Within a few months, she was pregnant, married, and traveling across the country to Austin...to the 250,000-acre spread known as Sunbridge and into the tantalizing world of the Texas rich. In a vast land dominated by the industrious Colemans, Billie fights to maintain control of her life and her marriage.

Awful Southern Accent

Seriously?! This reader shouldn't have even bothered! It was soooo annoying! I loved the story, but that southern accent almost made it unbearable!

Awful

I struggled to listen to for 50 minutes. Awful writing, story, and narrator. I will delete from library so I don't accidentally download again.

An Excellent story!

I loved the story! I would have scored it 5 stars except......the narrator’s attempts at the different accents were terrible and became really annoying....otherwise I loved this audiobook

The Narration Was...Yikes

I found the narration to be clipped and robotic at first. Then came the accents, or at least the attempt at accents, The southern accent was horrible. The "New England" accent - there are no words. I could truly get over the robotic and clipped narration if the accents would have just been left alone as they surely didn't add anything.

Performance and storyline outstanding!

I read this series about 20 years ago. The narration of this book is one of the best I have ever heard. Hats off to you Ma'am!!! Starting the next book now. I love this app.

Fabulous

I have always liked Fern Micheals. I know this is an older book but it is timeless. I highly recommend it. Beware though, it isn't a quick read but definitely worth the time.

Wimpy women

Are there any women in Texas that actually have a backbone? Or at least a little self worth?
