When Nina Linden is hired to landscape a private island off the New England coast, she sees it as her chance to rebuild her failing business after being cheated by her unscrupulous ex. She never expects that her new client, software mogul Deacon Whitney, would see more in her than just a talented gardener. Deacon has paid top dollar to the crews he’s hired to renovate the desolate Whitney estate - he had to, because the bumps, thumps, and unexplained sightings of ghostly figures in 19th-century dress are driving workers away faster than he can say “Boo.”

Ever since Jane Jameson took over running the Vampire Council for Half-Moon Hollow, things have been a little unorthodox, and that doesn’t sit well with the head office. Who would have thought vampires were so into bureaucracy and tradition? Enter a vamp from corporate who’s determined to unseat Jane and get the council back on track - which means no more of this Kentucky neighborliness and mixing with humans, werewolves, witches, or anything else. But Jane’s not interested in going back to the bad old days when the council was mired in corruption.

Publisher's Summary
To make ends meet, Stacy decides to develop her special…powers. Everyone can use a touch of magic now and then, right? Soon she’s got clients lining up to receive her signature potions - until a few of them go awry.
Meanwhile, her own life has just taken a storybook turn: Leo North, the official 'One Who Got Away,' is back in town. Stacy’s best friends, Peach and Liv are more concerned about the state of her heart than the side effects of a few rogue magic spells. But someone with dark intentions is crossing magical wires all over Nodaway Falls, and those closest to Stacy are at risk.
Can Stacy conjure up a way out of this mess with her life - and maybe even her love life - intact?

Very reminiscent of Molly Harper
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Molly Harper, but the writing styles are way similar. I enjoyed the first book and this book is no different. Instead of following Liv and her story we get to follow Stacy and her's. All magic going awry what's not to like. Some of it felt predictable but it was a good soft filler read. New characters are introduced and I am actually anxious to see who the next book will follow, Peach or Tobias maybe? I would love more on Tobias' background. Just hope it doesn't take as long to publish as this one did.
I think Lucy March is a solid writer and look forward to reading more of her books.
As always, anything Amanda Ronconi reads is gold, she was an excellent choice for this series.

Great 2nd Half
Listened for Fun (Audible)
Overall Rating: 3.75
Story Rating: 3.50
Character Rating: 3.75
Audio Rating: 4.50 (not part of the overall rating)
First Thought when Finished: That Touch of Magic had a strong second half and really great characters. I had fun!
Story Thoughts: That Touch of Magic was slow to start but had a very strong second half. The story did a kind of zigzag that kept you wondering exactly where Lucy March was heading. I did like that I couldn't quite predict where the story was going to end up or exactly how Stacy was going to get herself out of trouble. This read a bit more like an Urban Fantasy than a PNR which was both good and bad. I thought the action side of the story was good but the romance was a little lacking to me.
Character Thoughts: I really liked Stacy. She is a different kind of leading lady. She wasn't perfect by a long shot! She had spunk but that sometimes got her into trouble. She had gumption but that sometimes got her into spots that her mouth couldn't handle. She had magic but not control of it. In other words, she was just a normal girl that got thrown some pretty freaking crazy stuff! Leo was an OK leading guy. I actually liked him but it wasn't until the very end that I felt any chemistry between the two of them. I was actually more invested in the "bad guy". I do hope he gets a redemption story.
Audio Thoughts:
Narrated By Amanda Ronconi / Length: 9 hrs and 38 mins
Amanda Ronconi is fantastic! I don't think I have ever been disappointed with her narration. If you get a chance to listen to her, make sure that you do!
Final Thoughts: I am patiently waiting for the next in the series. Overall these are fun and great to listen too!

Even better than the first
The first book by Lucy March, "A Little Night Magic", was entertaining and I really enjoyed it, but it never reached the point where I was looking for excuses to keep listening. This second book in the Nodaway Falls series exceeds the first in every respect: character development, relationships, excitement and humor. The narration was spot on. If you're a fan of Amanda Ronconi you won't be disappointed. This is arguably her best performance of the books I've listened to.

Big disappointment
I loved Lucy March's first magic book and plan on listening to the one scheduled to come out this winter.
Her first book in this series was fun, fresh, and an enjoyable listen. This book was slow, it droned on and on, and aside from the end, was depressing. I won't listen to it again.
The only saving grace was the narrator, Amanda Ronconi.

Lucy March + Ronconi = So easy to listen to!
I enjoyed this book. I pretty much love anything that Amanda Ronconi narrates but I especially love supernatural fiction, so how could you go wrong with this one.
I like to listen while driving to and from work and this book was easy to listen to over a week. It's a fun story with great personalities, great dialogue and a good effort in the 2nd in this series - I look forward to listening to more :)
I read someone else's review earlier tonight who listed all their favourite authors at the end of her reviews as that's how she likes to find new books to read (listen lol) - by others recommendations. What a great idea right?
So if you're looking for recommendations, here's what I would recommend...
Anything by Jeaniene Frost - top of the list is the Night Huntress series.
Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones
Mercy Thompson Series by Patricia Briggs
Naked Werewolf series, Jane Jameson series, Half Moon Hollow series - basically anything by Molly Harper!
Sookie Stackhouse - Charlaine Harris
Divergent series by Veronica Roth - awesome!!!
Garnet Lacey series by Tate Hallaway
White Trash Zombie by Diana Rowland
The Grim Reaper Series by Judy Clemens
Anything by Richelle Mead but I really enjoyed the Dark Swan series, Succubus series and then vampire academy.

Tedious and melodramatic
This book went on and on about tedious relationship stuff and could have been about half its size. I was disappointed after reading the first one which was ok but not great. The narrator is excellent. She is very expressive and I enjoy listening to her even when I don't like what she's saying.

Magical, Romantic and Hilarious!
Would you consider the audio edition of That Touch of Magic to be better than the print version?
I fell in love with Amanda Ronconi when she read the Half Moon Hollow series by Molly Harper so I thought I'd try this series by a new author. Can't imagine that the print could be better. The narration just makes the story come alive and leaves me laughing out loud on the metro.
What other book might you compare That Touch of Magic to and why?
The writing styles of Molly Harper and Lucy March are very similar
What about Amanda Ronconi’s performance did you like?
She has a good range of voice and no one does sarcasm like she does.

Fun
This book follows, A Little Night of Magic. The former main character is in the story but the main character focus is now on Stacy, one of Liv's 3 closest friends from the first book. It's just a funny, interesting and kind of mysterious at times. It's a fun read.

Ignore poor reviews
What made the experience of listening to That Touch of Magic the most enjoyable?
I nearly didn'l buy this book because of some of the poor reviews. Actually it was a good storyline and I did enjoy it. The criticism of how dim witted the main character is ,is a tad harsh and it is very easy to be a know it all when you are on the outside looking in. Not a light book and it has a dark undertone that made it just a bit deeper than normal paranormal ' romance' . Worth a read ..... Yes

A little forced
This was the third book in the series, but it was not as entertaining as the first two and felt as though the author was scratching about for ideas. It was hard to entertain Desmond as a sympathetic character given he had been thoroughly discredited in the previous book. Despite the author's attempt to reinvent him, I still didn't like him and his inclusion as a positive character spoiled the story. I don't know if there is/will be more in the series, but after this one I've lost interest.
