Comprehensive guide for parents of teens

As a parent of two teenage boys, it was very reassuring to know that their behavior is a normal phase during these years, it just help me to validate and confirmed that to have a better relationship with my teens we should come from a place of trust and respect. In a simple explanation yet very powerful message the author made me realize that natural consequences of decisions made by our kids are more valuable instead of imposing our will over them.
What I liked the most was to learn the different styles of parenting, and how I can customize and adapt the style depending on the phase our teens are going through.
The narrator does a great job on this Audiobook, it kept me attentive and engaged. All in all, a comprehensive insight into a teenager mind

A helpful trip down memory lane

I have some family members with teenage sons and daughters. I often hang out with them, so I figured that listening to this audiobook would help me better relate to them. And while I’m not a parent myself, I figured that knowing the right strategies could help me engage my teenage family members better and keep the peace between all of us a bit more.

I definitely think this audiobook gave me the tools to do just that. But, more importantly, it helped me remember what it was like to be a teenager and see the world through their eyes. With that refreshed perspective, I’m confident I’ll be able to make conversations more engaging and reduce the number of arguments we all have in the future. I’m fairly confident that will be the case for parents who listen to this one as well.

Helpful for the future

My son is rapidly approaching this age and I wanted some advice or just insight into teenage life in todays world. I’ve listened to a few books on the subject and I really liked this one.

I found the audio helpful and took away some main points that I will use in the future. I liked how it was laid out with every strategy having its own chapter dedicated to it.

Great Info!

It's useful book for figuring out why your child isn't getting a logical explanation after several attempts. I agree that teens want to spend more time with their friends than with their parents, and it's not just because they like more stuff related to their age, but also because they are going through a lot of changes by identifying themselves in this world, and we, as parents, need to understand and help them. I like the idea of this book showing what parents do wrong and why it is hard for teens to understand their parents. The author helps to understand where you as a parent are and what your style of communicating with your child is. Personally, I remember some filings when I was a teen, and I see that in my child now, and it helps me understand my child better, and this book helps me remember more similar situations that I have forgotten. One of the issues is that we, as parents, don’t pay enough attention, not only to what the child says but also to the way he/she behaves. They may need our help, but they can’t tell us. The author gives a helpful explanation of how to deal with day-to-day situations with teens. It is a helpful chapter since it happens in all families. It is kind of a short, detailed explanation of what to do to avoid aggression or child punishment and build a healthy relationship with your kid.

A thorough guide well worth listening to

As I enter this next chapter in my parenting journey, I appreciated the research, insights, and advice in this book. It is a fantastic way to ensure that you don't find yourself saying the same unhelpful remarks as your parents did! I especially appreciated the list of the most annoying things that parents do so that I can ensure that I continue working on not doing these things with my teens. The hardest part for me is to lecture less and listen more. This book is highly recommended.

Really informative for today's modern world

Being a lecturer, I deal with teenagers on a daily basis. I'm very interested in how todays teenagers see the modern world and how to communicate with them to forge better relationships. The audiobook starts by questions parenting styles and self reflection. It then goes onto day to day struggles and logical and effective ways to deal with conflict with your teenagers. I really love the emphasis on family values and coming together to build stronger relationships with each other. The methods given are very powerful and I can see myself using some of these, particularly from chapter 6 when deal with conflicts. I really think parents will benefit from this!

Great Advised for Teens!

This is a great book about parenting teens because I understand how difficult teen life is and sometimes it may be a struggle for parents to raise their teens in the way they want them to be to have a good relationship with their parents. Each teenager is different in their ways, but they also have a brain that they still need to develop to have a good relationship and not a bad one. If parents need an advice on how to raise their teens without common mistakes, then I would recommend listening to this audiobook.

Candid and Informative!

The audiobook is practical, easy to follow, and it provides helpful information to help carers of teens as they do behave radically sometimes, because they interact and act base on their feelings rather than logic. The book explains a bit of how to practically parent teens better by reflecting on how we had it, but times have changed with technological advancement which is one of the major issues with teens. The chapter on what to do when parents disagree which affects teens was informative and it provides strategies to communicate with teens using appropriate language. Chapter 5 on difficult conversation with teens and negotiating with teen with different strategies was also insightful.
