Publisher's Summary

Three women form an unbreakable bond in a sexy, suspenseful, and adventurous novel about empowerment and sisterhood through thick and thin.

Venus McGee, Draya Carter, and Jackie Benson are coworkers with a lot in common. They’re smart, independent, driven, and deserving of recognition - certainly more than they’ve been handed by a demoralizing boss. He’s the topic of conversation at their impromptu get-together after the company holiday party, where the threesome fantasizes about a life without him. There has to be an alternative to taking a deep breath and sucking it up. There is. It’s just not the one they expected.

When morning comes, Venus, Draya, and Jackie are blindsided by murder - a twist of fate that brings a startling new challenge to the table and forces them to navigate a hair-raising detour they never saw coming. For better and (unless they can help it) for worse, it’s going to turn their world upside down. What starts as a necessary bond of mutual trust soon morphs into an empowering and galvanizing friendship that Venus, Draya, and Jackie need now more than ever.

I am only a few chapters in and I cannot . . .

I understand that this is fiction but the decisions made by these three college-educated women are beyond fiction.

I just could not suspend my disbelief long enough to enjoy this book. Common sense did not prevail in the main characters.

I love Bahni Turpin but her narration could not save this book for me.

Be careful what you wish for!

loved it! It was very suspenseful, up until the end you did not know who was doing the killing and who was behind it.

Meh

I started so I had to finish. I always enjoy this Narrator so I figured I’d give it a try. The story isn’t bad, but it seemed a little unrealistic and more like a BET movie. I did enjoy listening to the friendship begin and evolve between the ladies.

Bad Decision After Bad Decision

Before purchasing, I had read someone else’s review noting their frustration with the characters and their constant bad decisions. That reviewer said they couldn’t even finish it. At the time, I didn’t think much of the review and went ahead with buying. However, I can now fully understand where that reviewer was coming from.

I was able to finish the book but by the second half, I found myself feeling frustrated with their reasoning and rationalizing of making bad decisions over and over again. It didn’t feel relatable necessarily… I mostly just felt annoyed with each of them.

And while I liked the female friendship and support that underpins the story… it simply wasn’t quite enough to make up for the above endless poor decisions.

A little slow at first, but don't be fooled by that....it was all the things!

The characters & their voices.

The author did an excellent job developing the characters, making them believable & realistic. I especially enjoyed the narrator’s voices for each character. The voices helped give each character life. Dream’s voice was the best!

Funny

The book has a lot of funny parts but it should've been another reason she didn't go to the police in the first place, that threw the story off.

Nice effort, bad story

The book was long and boring. Besides the main three characters backgrounds repeatedly being stated the other characters really didn’t make sense in the book. It was hard for me to get through this story without getting lost and confused. This story should have been 2 hours max.
