Publisher's Summary

Artificial intelligence is transforming human society fundamentally and profoundly. Not since the Enlightenment and the Age of Reason have we changed how we approach knowledge, politics, economics, even warfare.

Three of our most accomplished and deep thinkers come together to explore artificial intelligence (AI) and the way it is transforming human society - and what it means for us all.

An AI learned to win chess by making moves human grand masters had never conceived. Another AI discovered a new antibiotic by analysing molecular properties human scientists did not understand. Now, AI-powered jets are defeating experienced human pilots in simulated dogfights. AI is coming online in searching, streaming, medicine, education and many other fields and, in so doing, transforming how humans are experiencing reality.

In The Age of AI, three leading thinkers have come together to consider how AI will change our relationships with knowledge, politics and the societies in which we live. The Age of AI is an essential road map to our present and our future, an era unlike any that has come before.

Awful reader

Very twangy, inflective and annoying accent the reader has. Means can only handle in 15 minute bursts. So many good readers out there…

The audio must be AI

The audio is potentially AI, as it is terrible!! I’m sure this is a fascinating book but I don’t think I’ll make it through to the end due to the awful voice.

Hard to keep listening to this narrator

The subject is complex and the text full of side notes, which makes it almost impossible to engage for more than 5 minutes. Terrible narration! I’ll be buying the hard copy of this book.

Rather underwhelming

The reading is very monotone and there is nothing really new or exciting about the topic in the book.

Just a long repetition of commonly available knowledge

There is a very little new insight or new ideas apart from some historical parallels. Most of the book is set of obvious warnings which should be presented to officials and can be summarised in a few words.

Over stretched

The book makes an important point regarding our future with AI, however I feel like it could have made the same point in less.

Truly dire…

I was looking forward to hearing this book and pre-ordered.
Sadly, the best way I can describe this book is to liken it to hard sell of a timeshare property.
If you do buy it then sign off after chapter 2 because you will hear nothing new afterwards.
It skips over the actual subject and then goes onto repeat the same things over and over.
It came across as the authors are intelligent but haven’t given the subject much thought, or they aren’t that savvy, have quickly read a book about it and then popped their impressions down.
Very disappointed and a waste of a credit…

Overly long with a few key take aways

seemed repetitive. it feels like they could have made their point in half the time. worthwhile of it is your intro to all things AI.
