Ahead of his time. Ahead of ours.

Although he was a product of his era (the gaps for a "god of the gaps" were still huge), Paine was far ahead of his time. Had this book not been banned or had been easier to access at his time, we might not have to deal with religious fundamentalists in ours.

His critique of Christianity is damning to anyone not willfully ignorant and obstinate.

If you're a Christian that can't understand why anyone thinks the Bible is absurd, you simply need to acquaint yourself with Thomas Paine.

Required reading

This should be required reading for believers and non-believers alike. Thomas Paine’s defense of Deism is a Masterclass in deductive reasoning. It is like an attorney’s thorough prosecution of the Bible, and yet is succinct enough to never be dry.

An Amazing book from a rebel!

An amazing book written by a rebel and ally to the American Revolution. He's not technically a founding father, but he did influence the outcome of our Republic.
