Publisher's Summary

New Yorker Ginger Colby, half witch, half werewolf, all curves, has made an immediate and lasting impression on the Alpha of Blue Moon County. Unfortunately, she did it by publicly insulting him - she turned down the smug, sexy werewolf sheriff when he asked her to dance with him at the local honky-tonk. Now the furious Alpha of her pack is ordering her to make amends with Sheriff Sexy - or risk igniting a war between the Red Wolves and the Gray. The Sheriff's idea of re-establishing his dominance includes a bare bottom spanking, making her work for him as his new assistant, and flirting with her outrageously. But is he flirting with her just to get revenge for humiliating him - or does he want something more? And can a liberated big city werewolf find happiness with a dominant small town shifter? With the mysterious disappearance of an archeology professor, and a jealous Alpha female stirring up trouble...Ginger may not have a chance to find out!

Sweet - Not Complex

This is a sweet little shifter book that doesn't require you to think about the plot but just enjoy the story. If you are looking for light entertainment, this book is for you. The only thing I didn't like was the spanking...but hey, to each their own.

The narrator did a great job in reading.

Enjoyable Fluffiness

Enjoyable shifter romance with humor & a mystery. Nicely done writing and editing. I'm really happy with my kindle & audio purchase. The narration is just decent; the female voice sounds too mature for 26 yr old female character.

Great short story

I really liked this Book. It definitely kept me wondering. It has a great story line. all my favorites- wolves, Love & mystery! Definitely wasn't expecting that Turn of events and I loved it!
I do feel like the author did a fantastic Job but, missed an opportunity to make this book a little longer. I had honestly just picked a short story to get me through until I found something I really wanted but, I ended up completely tangled up in this lovely story!
The performance of the Narrator fit this book very well too. she did a good job of keeping their voices distinct.
I'd definitely suggest this book.

Well ....

So the enemy to lovers happen so fast in this book it
give you whiplash. One minute they are tamping down their lust for each other next minute they are in a sex clubs. Umm... I don’t know about you but I would like a few kisses or maybe an affectionate hug before we go to the sex club. And isn’t every woman ok with him taking out the paddle on the first date. Nothing weird about that. And what about sexy time? Well he has got an enormous and her petal encloses a small but it all works out for all involved
except the reader. The reader is left wondering if they too could start getting paid for their own crap writing.

Don’t spend money on this one

I’m horrible at guessing plot lines, and even I figured this one out. The epilogue made me almost want to barf, it was so sickly sweet and clichéd. An interesting premise that turned out to be less than promised. The narrator did an okay job with terrible dialogues, but sounded stilted sometimes.

not for me

I had several issues with this book. I kept listening hoping the storyline would get better- it did not.
The narrator did an okay job- I didn't care for her voice in several places, her male voicing was not good and there was not enough variance in voice pitch to truly tell who was talking. she also made the fmc sound whiny throughout the whole story.

with the book- I don't get the whole city wolves and country wolves differences. shifters are part animal- therefore embracing that. sometimes it seemed the city shifters did, but other times like they did not and it just made for an awkward shifter romance. (almost like the shifting was an afterthought). The pack dynamics I could see how that would work with city shifters.
The ending seemed rushed, well mostly the whole book from about half way in- they did not care for each other, then they were together, then she flipped flopped back and forth. The idea of a fated mate in the book seemed to be just haphazardly thrown in. The fmc didn't seemed fazed by it.
usually if I read a shifter romance- I expect more shifting to occur throughout, also her powers with the dead played minor rolls(and she didn't even listen to it towards the end)

maybe reading the book the storyline flows better and smoother- but listening- this was not for me.

Love shifters

I loved the story line. Only thing not too happy about was the narrator, she didn’t match with the characters when listening to the story. Other than that...awesome book.

Easy fun listen

An advantage of Audible Plus is feeling free to chose a short, light read. It's a simple, fairly straight forward story and because of the story length the action moves along quickly which is just what I wanted, some action, some love and some sex scenes and nothing too taxing. I really liked Ginger and the narrator does her character well. A positive, upbeat, can do, sweet woman.

Falling short of being a good story...

I think the narrator did a pretty decent job, but here and there it was difficult differentiate the characters (especially in rapid-fire dialogues).

I don't think I'm in the targeted audience group, which obviously colours this review.
I'll try to keep this as spoiler-free as possible, but a few things will be hinted at/mentioned.

Overall, I liked what I consider the main plot. It had potential. It kept me listening longer than I normally would.
It's not well handled though.
It's rushed, crammed into way too short a book and littered with holes.
If I had read the synopsis more carefully and looked at the lenght of the audio book, I would have realized that it was too short.

The thing that allows the entire book to happen - which in the synopsis is described as "publicly insulting the Alpha of the local pack" - is that the main character refuses to dance with him, when he orders her to (not asks).
This really rubs me the wrong way, and an attempt by the author to explain away this behaviour later does not improve the situation.

The very sudden and out-of-the-blue dominance kink does absolutely nothing for the story, and feels incredibly out of character for both of the main protagonists. Someone else mentioned, that it seems the author suddenly decided that a sex scene was needed, and just crammed it in there.

We have a very contrived, cliché and tired conflict between the two, with the whole "is he interested or isn't he" thing. It only serves to minimize the time spent on the murder mystery, which is introduced at the same time.

Some of the characters are incredibly annoying and one-dimensional, like the 2 love-sick students.
Most of the minor characters seem highly unrealistic in their motivations and the way they speak and act.
Professor Reese in particular.

Spending the time on the sub-plots leaves inadequate time to properly resolve the murder mystery. This means it gets rushed to an unacceptable degree, where the twists are barely explained before they're resolved.

For that matter, every single plot-thread (big or small) gets resolved at the very end of the book. Nothing is left unresolved or unexplained, and there are no cliffhangers that entices you to pick up a sequel.

The world-building is woefully lacking, which *could* have worked in the first book of a series - Where it was then expanded on later. The problem gets highlighted though, when most of the book plays on this world-building for its conflicts and conflict resolution.
If shifters, witches and humans freely mingle, is this how it's always been? Or is this a new development? Are mixed relationships generally accepted? How is the "pecking order" established?
Who desides which sub-species is in control? (Panther vs. Wolf for instance) And where do humans fit into it?
What authority do shifter councils have compared to a pack Alpha?

Peculiar

This book had a lot of potential. An interesting plot that ended up going so fast, it was just strange. Definitely could have been more detailed to make the story more interesting but the fact is, the whole thing is across 2 weeks which was straight up confusing at some points.

Really Good

Ginger Colby goes to Blue Moon County after a nasty break up to get away and there she meets Sheriff Loch Armstrong in a bar and refuses to dance with him believing she is not his type and he is a man whore anyway. What follows is a sometimes amusing ride along a bumpy path filled with deceit, murder, betrayal and jealousy. An interesting listen and worth the effort. I recommend it.

Good

Compared to some shifter books I have read recently this one is very good. The only drawback is it’s not long enough. Otherwise I like both the H and h and some of the secondary characters were good as well.

short and sweet?

overall a decent story, it did feel a little bit rushed with only having her POV. could've been improved with having his POV to see the conflicting feelings on both side.
narrator was decent enough but the females characters lacked changes in voice which made it a little hard to keep track.

Unfortunately I wasn’t a fan of the narrator, she did a pretty good job with different voices but I felt like she sounded too old for the characters. Sadly I feel like it ruined it for me, the story was ok but very far from the authors other books.
