Publisher's Summary

Max Remus couldn't care less about finding his mate—unlike the rest of his fate-obsessed pack. He totally prefers hanging with his bestie, eating his dad's steak sandwiches, and drawing in his trusty sketchbook. But all that is about to change at the Blue Moon Festival—a summer camp where Elite Pack wolves go to find their mates. The festival is a rite of passage for every teen werewolf, and this year's festival will be one to howl home about. The alpha's son, Jasper Apollo, is attending for the first time. When Max finds himself inexplicably linked with the exceptionally handsome but totally jerk-faced heir, he's forced to grapple with the unexpected feelings clawing at his soul.

If Max rejects his destiny, will fate's bite be worse than its bark?

Netflix's Young Royals meets Teen Wolf—the first instalment in a thrilling new series, The Alpha's Son is a heart-wrenching young adult, wolf shifter romance, full of yearning, comedy, and adventure.

Start listening now! And may the Moon Gods light the path between souls.

I knew it was YA, but god DAMN.

barely through the first chapter and I've already had enough. I WANT to say if you're above the age of 13... BUT, I'm gonna be nice and say 16 - no, 20 - then please, save yourself your credit. This story reads like something a middle schooler would write on wattpad. Like, I don't know what I expected, but it certainly wasn't this cringe-fest.

Even though the Arthur tries to break the fourth wall by acknowledging that it's a cliche, it doesn't do anything the make the cliche land, and the main character still screams "Well, I'm not like other girls!!!" I tried to ignore the mention of scrolling through "tiktok" and words like "bestie" but no matter what this story sounds like it's written in the voice of your everyday Gen Z tween that you will find on tiktok. And I'm not saying this to bag on gen Z cause I'm gen Z myself but shit, do better.

I wasted my credit to read "Ew kissing, uh! So gross!" and "Uh, how dare you bump into me! what a jerk!" "No, you!"

like ffs.

it's books like this that reminds that literally anyone can be an author and that I might as well open google docs myself if there are people like me who would be silly enough to spend money on stuff like this. Better off reading the Omegaverse tag on AO3.

by a long shot THEE worst story****spoilers*****

um hey S P O I L E R S******spoilers******* you have been warned......but i hope you read this review......narrator was frickin awesome, the story.....well i wish i would have listened to the negative reviews, the main character is THEE biggest looser in the history of loosers, i mean jesus!!!! take a frikin clue!and the "alpha's Son" a self absorbed uptight Abusive ***Hole i wonder if Penny Jessup actually read the story after she was done?? from page number one to the last page, there wasn't a single redeeming moment in this book, from the alpahs son who was mentally and emotionally abusive, literally this character could cause triggers for people who've been verbally abused, to the friends who despite the constant negative interactions with the main character kept nonstop encouraging the main looser to keep going back for more abuse, seriously every time max was shot down, which was the entire book, his "best friend" kept saying keep going for it you've got to go back for more!!!if you like him dont stop!! no matter how awful he was treated! i mean i kinda think penny jessop must have been in an abusive relationship that was never dealt with, becuase thats how she wrote this story, so like i said spoilers.....but even at the end when the "alpha" basically endorsed their abusive relationship, Jasper STILL rejected Max...but wait guess what! the last min of the book right after Jasper Rejects Max AGAIN, Max decides hes not gonna give up, and keep trying LMAO there is no way on gods green earth im gonna wanna put myself through another novel where sir no-back bone, gets knocked down and kicked in the face again and again, just WOW, i seriously hope people read this review, its not the only one like it, but take it from someone who thought, oh it cant be that bad?!?!? right ?!?!? no it is, no joke avoid this book, unless you like abuse, than go for it.

Resolution

The overall plot and storyline execution was absolutely wonderful. However the resolution leaves much to be desired and leaves the reader with questions that could have been better foreshadowed. As a slow burn this novel is on par with most novels in the genre, but I feel like there were missed moments that could have really engaged us readers.

wow

I am 27. I've always loved ya books the most. So I gave this one a chance. All I have to say is I hate this ending, but....I'd read part two maybe. Yes it was very ya written but that makes me laugh so I have no complaints about the writing. Get it or Don't but I'll say this definitely a one time read only kinda book for me.

i loved it but....

i loved this story ot pulled at allu heart strings and i could feel the emotions of the main character and vibe with him. but, the ending leaves me wanting more like jaspers pov to understand why acts the way he does toward max and the battle inside him. i think a sequel or series would tie up all the loose ends and finally give max and jasper the ending they deserve being together publicly especially sine the alpha has approved of them together.

ummmm I wanted to like it

I was not a huge fan the narrator talked so slow and jaspers personality is like cardboard. I did like the main character. he said some witty things and there were some funny, cute moments, but few and far between and most of those cute moments were just way too cheesy

not what I thought it would be

that ending carved my heart out with a spoon to get to know who completes your soul how I would love to have the chance but for him to just turn around and run

leaves a great cliff hanger for a sequel but I'm not holding my breath

Good narrator, story could be improved

This book has a lot of potential but unfortunately also a lot of issues. A lot of the plot doesn't really make much sense and for being branded as a "queer fantasy novel" the whole world of the wolf pack felt very heteronormative and unwelcoming. The relationship between the main couple doesn't really evolve during the whole book and the ending is very unsatisfying. I liked the voice and style of the narrator.

One of the best books

The story is very interesting and sometimes surprising. I did not think that this book will be so amazing and modern.
