Told from four-year-old Laura's point of view, this story begins in 1871 in a little log cabin on the edge of the Big Woods of Wisconsin. Laura lives in the little house with her pa, her ma, her sisters Mary and Carrie, and their trusty dog, Jack. Pioneer life is sometimes hard for the family, since they must grow or catch all their own food as they get ready for the cold winter. But it is also exciting as Laura and her family celebrate Christmas with homemade toys and treats, do the spring planting, bring in the harvest, and make their first trip into town.

At 16, Anne is grown up...almost. Her gray eyes shine like evening stars, but her red hair is still as peppery as her temper. In the years since she arrived at Green Gables as a freckle-faced orphan, she has earned the love of the people of Avonlea and a reputation for getting into scrapes. But when Anne begins her job as the new schoolteacher, the real test of her character begins. She is learning how complicated life can be when she meddles in someone else's romance, finds two new orphans at Green Gables, and wonders about the strange behavior of the very handsome Gilbert Blythe.

Great story, good narrator, audiobook format is c
I love this story so much. And the furst narrator is engaging! The second narrator has a sweet voice but I much prefer the first. my big problem with the audiobook is that none of the chapters are labeled, book is broken into six parts for download purposes but not labeled. It's very difficult to tell which book I'm on, and Which chapter I'm in in that book. Twice, in the audiobook, the story shifts of abruptly and I I've tried to see if the book was changing or what caused the change. I've tried to rewind and relisten to make sure I didn't miss something. it would have been much easier had there been any indication of where in the story I was

What a treat to find this on Audible! It’s a bargain to get 73 hours for 1 credit! The narrator does a great job. The story is inspiring - how a lonely orphan finds beauty, love, and belonging in a harsh world. I loved it at age six and I love it again at age 60. Highly recommended!

WORTH THE WAIT
To a reader nothing beats finding out the as the author originally meant it to be told. While this collection only has 6 of the 8 books. you can now read the whole with audible. I could not recommend it more. The ability to imagine is a precious gift for those of all ages. These books slow it to flourish. I think the books should be read in order.
Books 4 and 6 need to be purchased separately. The narrations are well done and clear.
I could not recommend this series more highly enjoy it I did

I was a bit confused as the ‘layout’ of this audiobook. It is a continuous reading of 8 books, however the parts of the audiobook do not reflect the different books!

Part 2 Chapter 39 - Part 3 Chapter 68
Anne of the Island
Part 3 Chapter 69 - Part 4 Chapter 109

Part 4 Chapter 110 - Part 6 Chapter 149
Rainbow Valley
Part 6 Chapter 150 - Part 7 Chapter 184
Rila of Ingleside
Part 7 Chapter 185 - Part 8 Chapter 219

The Anne of Green Gables Collection has been 73 hours and 19 minutes of living on Prince Edward Island well over 100 years ago!
I have loved in my 74 th. year revisiting the lovely Anne of Green Gables stories I enjoyed when I was young. I had already revisited Anne with my own children when they were young too. But buying this collection of all of Lucy Montgomery tales of the grown up Anne and her children, and even, the last book, Tales of Avonlea has been a renewed revelation of story telling. An especially great treat was Rilla' s story. Anne's youngest daughter. This book covers the four years of the first world war as lived on Prince Edward Island. The young men went away to the war and the women and older men left behind take you into their world of sorrows and joys, fears and frustrations of the daily life of those at home following every detail of the news of that great war player out over much of the world but far away from Canada. I learnt so much from this book. And it was so well written. Thankyou for this collection of books I have enjoyed it all so much

Mostly great but confusing omissions
I really enjoyed this- these were some of my favourite books growing up, and the lady who narrates book book one and 5 in particular was wonderful- very gentle and relaxing listen.
However, for some reason, Anne of windy willows, and more importantly, Anne of Ingleside aren’t included. The latter is one of my favourites of the series and I’d love to know why they decided to omit them! It leaves such gaping blanks in the story..

Part 2 Narrator does an awful Anne!
The narrator of Part 1 (the Green Gables book), Susie Berneis, is fantastic, and beautifully understands the spirit of Anne as well as the other characters. But oh dear the narrator of Part 2 (the Avonlea book), Tara Ward, does an awful Anne! She doesn’t seem to understand Anne at all, and makes her sound like a superficial, flighty, silly female. I had to stop listening which was a great shame. Tara Ward does, however, do the elderly characters quite well..... but when you have a bad Anne, you can’t bear it.

Absolutely Hideous
This seems like such a great value! Except there’s two performers—one book finishes and another begins with a new performer. The first performer makes Anne sound like she’s always either teetering on the precipice of or deep into an anxiety attack—constant hysteria. Neither performer actually bothered to find out what Eastern Canadians sound like and the first performer randomly takes on a weird Yankee-esque accent (“Canada, America, they pretty much sound the same, right? No one will notice!”). The way this is organized will drive you nuts as it’s basically one long playlist, not broken up into individual parts for each book. Also random is the skipping of “Windy Poplars” and “Ingleside”—I mean, why go to the time, money and expense to produce this product, but skip two books? If you have zero Anne standards, you might not care about any of this. But honestly, just once I’d like to hear the books done by a top-tier performer.

the biggest issue I had is that this audiobook (i. fact the recording of 6 books back-to-back) is divided by parts. it wouldn't be such a problem (and I would have even accepted the performance, which does not compare favourably to others available on Audible), given the price, if it wasn't for the fact that the parts are finishing randomly between the chapters of the books, not the end of the books themselves. if one were to listen from the whole beginning to the end then maybe that would not be a problem, but if they try to listen to particular book then finding where that may start can be very frustrating. very disappointing production. not sure I would like to go through this experience again.

Poorly organised
The chapters from all six books are jumbled into one extremely long play list, and the tracks are not labelled with which book they belong to, so it's very difficult to tell when one book starts and another finishes. The performance is good but not nearly as characterful as the Rachel McAdams recording of the first book.

So very, very disappointed!
I am so disappointed with this audio book - if I could return it I would. I love all of the Anne Shirley books and thought this would be a great way to pass time when I am in hospital etc. What a nightmare this turned out to be, once downloaded the chapters had to be put into their correct book and order, this has taken me on and off over the past fortnight - how many hours in total I don't know - but a lot! I downloaded them all to a file in one go but if I hadn't been ready to use them as an audible they disappeared and had to be downloaded again. IT GETS WORSE!! Books 5 & 6 are not included, these are Anne of Windy Willows and Anne of Ingleside surely these are more important to the flow of the story than adding on the Chronicles at the end. I cannot believe that after paying for this incomplete set I now have to fork out a lot more money to get these 2 books. this has been a complete and utter mess and a poorly executed listing from Amazon - BOO!!

Wholesome and inspiring
The author is really good at capturing children's spirit and the story is just heartwarming. By the end of it, I found myself more appreciative of the things around me, and that's a sign of a really good book (or in this case, series).

So enter the bride of chucky
So, after loving the Netflix adaptation and learning that the show was cancelled, I decided to listen to the original and entire saga.
Firstly it is nothing like the Netflix adaptation, maybe few scenes are similar, the rest complete fiction in that regard. So I ventured intrepidly into the world of Prince Edward Island as originally imagined and detailed.
The first two books were sweet enough they plod along with very little intrigue, but for background noise it’s ok. The first two narrators made good attempts to single out characters with voice variations, which keep it easy to follow.
However.... enter book 3, the narrator who I am sure is a lovely person, sounds similar to the actress who plays the bride of Chucky. It is therefore difficult to imagine anything else whilst she tries and fails to capture characters and inflect variations to her voice to distinguish different characters.
The highlight of this cloud though is hearing the Narrators phone ring in the background in one of the early chapters. This certainly helped deflect from her bride of Chucky voice and the “story” for quite some time and now I listen imagining a blond homicidal doll with a knife reading a very mundane book whilst ignoring calls from the outside world. Something I never thought I’d piece together with this long drawn out story.
In conclusion I can say I have heard and am aware of the books and so can tick it of the books I should probably read in my lifetime. it is not a waste of my life but merely a time in which my imagination freely wandered away from the real and the fictional world being created For me. It has also taught me a lesson not to bother with these suggestions of “books to read before you die”, next time I figure I’ll live or die without having heard or read certain stories.

Seriously the worst, do not bother.
I love Anne of Green Gables, and have returned to listen to the whole series. I had purchased this volume of all the books to try and get all books in one hit rather than buying separately but strongly advise you not to waste your time. The author in this series is so inconsistent with characters, and a complete bore to listen to. Then each book is out of sequence and do not flow on one to the next. Very disappointing. Returning this promptly.

Narrator was good until I heard Anne speak...
No reviews but I thought I’d give it a chance.. the narrator does an excellent job at adult voices.. but she made Anne (who is supposed to be an exceptionally well spoken, intelligent child), sound like a complete ditz.. it is great value, but she did an awful job at capturing Anne’s character.

A Little Disappointed
I was a little disappointed to discover that two of the books from this series are missing. Where are Anne of Windy Willows and Anne of Ingleside? The narration is also somewhat stilted and the characterisation a bit off. Thankfully I love the story so much that listening has been ok. I’m just disappointed that I’ll need to stop listening while I re-read Anne of Ingleside before continuing in to Rainbow Valley.

this product is not as advertised.
I bought a 'complete' set of the Anne books only to discover it's missing two entire books. Anne of windy poplars and Anne of ingleside. completely bizare. the narration is fine, although Anne should positively shrewish at times, and some of the women like Stella have a weird growl for a voice. AOGG was the best.

Words can't describe the beauty of this book.
This was the longest audiobook I have listened to, yet I enjoyed every word!
The language used was exquisite, and the imagery was beautiful. The characters came alive in my mind. I am so grateful I experienced this book!!!

Not the full collection
I enjoyed listening to theses wonderful stories but the collection is missing two books, book 4-Anne of Windy Poplars and book 6-Anne of Ingleside which was disappointing. Didn't mind the narrator and liked that she distinguished between characters with different voices but found the change she made in Anne's voice in book 3- Anne of the Island quite disconcerting. Overall good value but not a spectacular production. Also has no chapter titles so you can't tell where one book starts and one ends in the chapter list.

This is missing Anne of Windy Willows. Why would you put together a collection and leave out just one book!!
