Publisher's Summary
Brought to you by Penguin.
Winner of the 2020 Prix Goncourt. One million copies sold. An international phenomenon.
What do you do if your life is no longer your own?
When flight Air France 006 enters a terrifying storm, the plane - inexplicably - duplicates. For every passenger on board that day, there are now two - a double with the same mind, body and memories.
Just one thing sets them apart. One plane leaves the storm in March. The other doesn't land until June. For world leaders, the emergence of the June flight raises serious alarms. No science, faith, or protocol can explain this unprecedented event.
But for the passengers, a bigger question is at stake. What happens to them, now that their life is shared? What happens to those who land in June, when their March doubles make decisions that will change their lives forever?
And as the doubles prepare to meet, they have an extraordinary decision to make.
If there are two of them, and just one life - who gets to live it?
A runaway best seller and winner of the 2020 Prix Goncourt, The Anomaly is a genre-defying, whip-smart novel that explores the very essence of who we are.

Great story. Poor narration.
Narrator seems to have a poor grasp of basic pronunciation. Boeing = boing. Keanu (Reeves) = Keenu. Hectare = hectar
I love this story but my ears hurt.

Story spoilt by stange narration
This sounded like an interesting story, but the narration is off. The narrator leaves pauses in random unnatural places and places emphasis on unexpected words. It gives the impression that the narrator is not a native speaker, although clearly he is. Either that or he is actually a robot. It makes listening to the book difficult.

clever and thought providing
clever twist on the idea of a matrix but don't be fooled by that, it questions not just our existence but how we react to the unfathomable. watch out for the twist

Interesting ideas and excellent narration.
There are some really captivating parts of this book and the narration is as good as it gets. But for me it was too rambling. I gave up listening to parts and skipped past some of the most repetitive sections. I think that what works on the written page ; dates and times and places and other details of a report for example, should not necessarily be read out verbatim on an audio book. It just gets tiresome! The eye usually skips such minutiae whereas the ear has to listen to every word!
Overall a decent listen and I'll seek out other titles narrated by the same person, but not a particularly memorable book for me. Needed trimming down by about a third!

Gripping and very elegantly written.
A fantastic and terrifying concept really beautifully executed. Occasionally, a little confusing but hard to see a way round that given the plot! Highly recommended!

Not a great read
On reading the title details this sounded like a different kind of story which I was looking forward to reading but I struggled with this book - I persisted as I was hoping things would improve and the story would get exciting but it didn't . It became very so so and didn't keep me engaged. The ending was a big disappointment and didn't answer the questions that were raised throughout. I will not purchase any more books from this author

Rambling Drivel
I don’t often write reviews and very rarely negative reviews. In my opinion, and you may differ, I found this extremely tedious. The entire novel is just talk talk talk. It’s the rambling shower thoughts of the author. There are very few clever ideas here. It reads like a Year 9 students attempt to be a philosopher. There is no action whatsoever. It was a great idea for the plot - but that’s where it ends. The novel discusses the idea and that’s all.
I’ve read hundreds of audible books over many years. Rarely do I notice the narrator “reading”. This narrator sounded at times unprepared - like a school teacher reading a novel to the class. There were some characters portrayed better than others.
Although the author has a great timbre, his baritone doesn’t cut through - his voice is kind of boomy and hard to hear when driving. Some characters sounded identical and where impossible to distinguish.
Not much science fiction here. Just teenage philosophy. If you want your mind blown read “Recursion”.
If you decide to give The Anomaly a go, I hope you enjoy it more than I did.
