Finally! This book really is life changing!

I've read a lot of books about motivation, self development and trying to 'fix' whatever isn't working in your life. Most of them spend 90% trying to help you figure out why you might have whatever issues you have, and 10% giving any actionable solution. This book is 100% about giving you real, usable tools to make the changes in your life. This book actually got me off my @$$ and into real action. I feel better than I have in years and am so thankful to Dr. Aziz. This isn't a quick fix that will fizzle out once the novelty wears off either......it creates real, lasting change. I hope that anyone struggling with anything in their life will read/listen to this book. It's my new 'users manual' for my life!

And on a side note, Dr. Aziz is very pleasant to listen to....he reads this book like a friend just having a conversation with you.

Very practical

I believe that this book is a complete practical guide for building self confidence. While I'm happy with my present life and success, every topic/problem/solution discussed by Dr. Aziz in this book resonates one hundred percent with me and reminds me that I can be much better happier person. I highly recommend everyone to read this book or listen :-)

Why the profanity?

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Someone that doesn't mind unnecessary profanity

What could Dr. Aziz Gazipura PsyD have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Expand his vocabulary

Would you be willing to try another one of Dr. Aziz Gazipura’s performances?

No

Any additional comments?

There should be a notification given regarding profanity; the writer's notes this in the introduction, but then it's too late

THE. BEST. BOOK. ON. SELF. CONFIDENCE. EVER.

I am about 3/4 through this book and I am completely and utterly blown away by how insightful this author is. I have read many books books on this topic, but they were either horribly written, boring, lacked action steps, irrelevant to me, or were filled with filler. In contrast, this book is a big, thick, lean, juicy rib roast of amazing, extremely actionable content. Most importantly, the author gets it because he once suffered from very low self confidence and has since slain the Dragon. Okay. there is one thing I don't like... I feel an urge stop the audio every 5 minutes to not down notes. Therefore, I bought the paperback so I can write it. Do yourself a huge favor and buy this book for yourself or for someone who you feel suffers from low confidence or low self-esteem.

I don't write reviews

There are very few audiobooks I listen from start to finish, but this is one! This book is amazing and insightful! Take your time and reflect on what he's says and you will be a changed person.

One of my favorite books

Any additional comments?

A lot of what Dr. A said resonated with me. I struggle with my confidence from child hood, but feel more confident that there can be growth and change. This was my first time listening to anything by Dr. A. Thanks, Dr. A!

Breakthrough Book on Confidence!

very genuine and it really highlights all the dumb procrastinating stories we tell ourselves, hiding behind our thoughts that we are perfectly rational and smart. Get out there and do, overcome fear now!

He should have paid someone else to narrate it

What disappointed you about The Art of Extraordinary Confidence?

The general way the author presented the content of this book was very off putting. First of all he uses gratuitous profanity in what feels like an effort to seem cool or to relate to a younger crowd. Also his allegories seem to be off the cuff and unorganized, or paraphrased from the actual book. This is annoying at best and detracts from the message of the book. He tries to use self deprecating humor and it falls flat. Many times throughout this book I actually said aloud, "stop rambling and get to the point."

Has The Art of Extraordinary Confidence turned you off from other books in this genre?

No

How could the performance have been better?

Hire a narrator and stick to the script

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The message was great, but it takes a lot of unnecessary work to sift through the author's BS

Any additional comments?

Don't waste a credit on this

Very disappointed

I was Very disappointed , even though the guy gave warnings at the beginning of the book about foul language. The cursing was to much for me. I can't imagine recommending this book in a professional work setting, or to junior our senior high schools. If you sow that language what do you reap? I feel sorry for him.

Mostly regurgitation

Not bad, but mostly just the same generic info as a lot of other “coaches”. The main advice given throughout is “You fear X? Then you just need to do X.” Not overwhelmingly bright. It claimed to give specific strategies/tactics, but he keeps repeating the same advice, just in a different context.

Mind blowing.

I wish i had read this book when i was younger. Dr Aziz debunks some of the most toxic and common misconception we hold about social behaviours and communication. The book is simple to understand full of examples and comparisons. The narration is enjoyably smooth and the tone is relaxed and empathetic as you feel in a real conversation with a friend. The best self help book i ever listened.

Too long for short point.

If the point the writer is making is 'just get up and do it', there's no need to repeat it for hours.

Returning due to waffle

There's nothing in this book that is new or helpful, but I can only say that about the first 34 mins because that's all I could bear. It is all just filler and waffle. Platitudes and obvious statements punctuated by adverts for the author's coaching. I am returning it.

Well Worth It!

If you could sum up The Art of Extraordinary Confidence in three words, what would they be?

Dr Aziz really speaks to you, I mean he understands what feelings, worries, concerns we are going through because he has been there himself. What got me more than anything else was his sincere desire to help people. A lot of his methods are fleshed out by real-life examples from his life! This made it a lot more authentic and genuine in my mind. I just finished the audiobook today and was gutted that it ended. It was like having a good friend talking to me over the last few weeks. It reinforced some things, which I guess, I already knew, but it also opened up new ways of thinking about things.

Any additional comments?

If you want help and direction on attaining greater confidence, then this book is a must-have'! But don't be fooled into thinking (me included) that by listening to this book, you will come out like some confident superman or superwoman. Yes, it will happen only if what you hear, you put into practice (again, myself included). I definitely, recommend this book. Thanks DR Aziz!

So inspirational

I'm listening to this audio book for the second time now as I find it so inspirational and motivating. It's very easy to listen to and not too heavy going at all. I can honestly say it's changed my life.

Good but dial down on the humour

The advice is beyond good, but the humour comes across as unnatural and makes listening feel like a chore rather than something to enjoy

Waste of Money

He talks about not being a nice person, saying he will help his girlfriend move then leaving her high and dry on the day because he decided he didn't feel it was right. Talk about deciding to ignore the impact of behaviour. Very disappointing, didn't bother to finish it.

Extremely Helpful, Likeable, Down to Earth

If you could sum up The Art of Extraordinary Confidence in three words, what would they be?

Helpful, Likeable, Realistic

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Art of Extraordinary Confidence?

Whenever the author dispels other "Self Help" BS, and is just realistic. e.g. Other self-help says, "Just perceive the situation in a different way, just perceive/think the problems away" but he says We're not robots... it probably is really scary... embrace the awkward, painful, accept it. etc. I like how one of his approaches to confidence comes from recognising one's humanity, and everyone else's humanity.

Which character – as performed by Dr. Aziz Gazipura – was your favourite?

He jokes around a bit. He's just being himself, and confidently amuses himself. Good example.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

He's really likeable guy. His voice sounds soothing, comfortable, natural. Pleasant to listen to; Unlike those other weird, stilted readings that sound really fake. Great content. Humorous, not dry and dull to listen to. Even though he's a psychologist, he doesn't have to go into all the technical brain science which I'm tired of hearing from other self help books (almost all of them somehow end up talking about the Amygdala, Pre-Frontal Cortex, the Kids in the Cookie/Marsh-Mellow Test) He's practical. Even though he's a psychologist that helps people to understand their problems, he knows that understanding the problem alone doesn't help your improve. Unlike other motivational books writers whose approach is just pumping you up with positivity, Aziz's approach is more enduring and practical and real.

Another classic for the top shelf

The fact that Dr Aziz has been through a lot of his own personal suffering but is now passing on his decades of learnings and experience to people struggling with confidence issues makes this book one that is hard to put down (so to speak). I’ve bought all his books and love them.
