Sports Psychology Excellence

Where does The Art of Mental Training rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Towards the top at the higher levels because of it's inspirational lessons mixed with all the actionable advice and processes. I found the book to be both entertaining and educational. Loaded with instructions and explanations on how to apply the science of sports psychology, NLP, and success conditioning in order to help take one to higher levels of achievement and personal success. This is not a positive thinking type of book. It's much more powerful than that. It provides tools, knowledge, and techniques that sets this book apart from the rest.

What other book might you compare The Art of Mental Training to and why?

This is a pretty unique book because although there are other books out there that present pretty much the same body of knowledge, none of them do it in such an entertaining and detailed way. The book is skillfully written. Very original in it's approach to teaching all the essential material.

What does D. C. Gonzalez bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I've read the book and I like the genuine pleasant tone that the author brings to the narration of the story with his voice. He brings his mentor Leo-tai alive. I also felt like I was listening to a personal coach who cared about my ability to achieve higher levels of personal success.

What did you learn from The Art of Mental Training that you would use in your daily life?

There is so much good advice and step by step instructions embedded and presented throughout this audio book that the list of what I learned and will be using daily would be long. However, I'd say that for sure one thing I'll be doing starting right away is using the deep relaxation technique that is taught and begin using "Imagineering" and the success conditioning process explained so well in this audio book.

Also, now that I understand the Champion Mindset much better, and how to achieve it, I will be thinking like a champion much more consistently as I face each new day. Having the right mindset is a big part of what gets you to the next level of your true potential and that's a big part of what DC Gonzalez teaches throughout this material.

Any additional comments?

If you are committed to excellence and are looking for a good coach who can help you understand how to get there, then you won't be disappointed with this audio book.

I especially enjoyed the way the concepts and skills are introduced in the form of a story. This really helped me to connect to these ideas and kept me interested the entire time. I feel the material will help me achieve my very best in whatever I do.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I really liked the relationship between Leo-tai and Danielsan. It personalized the principles and techniques in the book and made me believe that these work in real life. Danielsan seems to truly appreciate the impact Leo-tai had upon him.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite chapter/scene was the battle with the raccoons and establishing the absolute importance of self-belief in anything we hope to achieve in life. The humor of the situation makes this important principle stand out to me and easy to remember.

Outstanding - Five Stars

Where does The Art of Mental Training rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It ranks 9 on a scale of 10. This is exactly the type of self-improvement information I was looking for. An inspirational book that teaches by using an engaging story.

What other book might you compare The Art of Mental Training to and why?

This book teaches differently than other books. It presents important principles of success by weaving and embedding them throughout a well written story line. I have his success conditioning audio programs called Unstoppable Confidence, Personal Best, Goal Achievement, and Deep Relaxation. I really like them. They build mental skills using a different approach and in a different way. Kind of like having a personal consultation with a peak performance expert and sports hypnotherapist whenever you want. In comparison, this audio book teaches the Warrior-Champion mindset through story telling. Gonzalez is excellent in both types of performances.

Yes, and each time I listen to different parts of the book again, I realize just how carefully designed the presentation is. There are so many powerful ideas presented in such a subtle way. Truly well written.

I really don't understand some of the critics - I think they miss the point. This is a great book it's been the Number 1 Kindle eBook in Sports Psychology and Martial Arts for over a year now. That in itself says a lot.

For People Seeking Excellence

Would you consider the audio edition of The Art of Mental Training to be better than the print version?

I got the Kindle edition and Whispersynch for Voice. Awesome combination. I was able to read along while the author narrated.

What did you like best about this story?

I just really liked the way the author gives you insight into his military jet training, his experience as a Federal Agent, and also as a peak performance coach through all his stories. The flashbacks in the story where he shares some of the lessons he learned from his martial arts mentor adds an interesting element to the book. I've never seen anyone keep it so simple and direct, yet deliver so much.

What does D. C. Gonzalez bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I liked the way he read the story. It was genuine. It was real. It sounded good.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I didn't want to stop. The chapters flowed so easily. They were short and got directly to the point. Great authors and trainers have a way of sharing knowledge in a very easy and succinct way. DC Gonzalez has this rare talent.

Any additional comments?

I've read all the top mental performance classics. I'm an athlete who thought he knew it all. I was wrong. This simple book set me straight. A true champion accepts that it's not what he thinks he knows that's important; it's what he can still learn that makes all the difference. Many thanks to the author.
