Great Story

I'm giving this 5 stars because it was great overall. Good story line, good development of characters and the ending tied up with a neat bow. And another outstanding performance by Imogen Church. I think I could listen to anything that woman narrates.

Horrible & predicable!!

Don't waste a credit. This was a horrible story. Totally obvious and none of the characters were the least bit likable. I only stuck with it because I was expecting a twist at the end that never came.

Terrible reading and tedious at times

The exaggerated enunciation is totally irritating and distracting. Also this author always has to go on and on about smoking in every book. It must be an obsession but also irritating . The books are slow so perfect to listen to while jogging and not much attention is required. Not great but generally passable for exercise.

I don’t get it??

I absolutely LOVE Gemma Rogers! Her creative , on the edge of the seat listening!
I think I have heard all of her audible books.
The reason I marked her only as 3 is because the narrators were absolutely annoying and whiny 🤦🏼‍♀️.
Several times I just had to shut it down because of fake accents, and have you listened to this??
The phony baby cries? Was that just to hate the guy even more ??
Otherwise keep up the great work and be judgmental on the narrators!
Think of poor ole Grandmas that can listen for hours !

Good listen

Good book. I liked the way it moved along. It was over 3days and each person view.

much better than reviews suggest

I was a bit concerned I wouldn't like this book, the reviews were quite uncomplimentary (particularly about the narrator) I actually picked it because of Imogen Church, she's absolutely fantastic. It was a brilliant book, really well written and read. I listen to all my books on superfast speed, so I wasn't as put off by the narration as others were.
I'll definitely listen to another one of Gemma's books, I read payback last year, so I've got a few to go.

So disappointed

I absolutely love all of Gemma Rodger’s books and especially love the narrator she uses In her precious stories - Georgia McQuire. Sadly I could not listen beyond chapter 4 purely because of the awful narrator! Having a good one changes the whole book. The voice were simply awful and the reason why so returned.

fantastic story

absolutely loved the story my only negative was the narrator and her terrible voices but I got used to it as i enjoyed the story so much . Eden parents voices and her mother's really grated on my nerves but I think most people find upper class public school voices irritating. but love Gemma's books I'm going now to listen to bad girls and that's me listened to all of them

but I found the amount of swearing unnecessary, I'm hardly a prude but it ruined it all bit for me

Awful narration!

Real shame as I like Gemma Rogers as an author and have really enjoyed listening to her other audio books but unfortunately the narration was so annoying and bad that I couldn’t listen to the whole book. Waste if a credit

The most unlikeable characters

I genuinely thought it was a clever double bluff until it wasn't....

The parents of the missing child, mostly the mother are the most unlikeable, pretentious snobby characters ever. The mother early on says something to the effect of "we are middle class its not like we let the ball slip". From that moment I was wholeheartedly rooting for the "bad" guy.

The ending was bad and sad because it was predictable and generic. I listened until the end hoping is was a clever twist on the predictable. It was not.

I have enjoyed Gemma Rogers other books but this one had too many people to despise when you were supposed to be rooting for them. If I met them in real life I would probably bitch slap them and take their baby to save it from growing up to be a pretentious twat.

The poor child is now in a worse position because of the ending.

Two stars for the two characters that were likeable, Jimmy and Eden.

Gemma does it again!

Gemma Rogers has the ability to reel you into a story, change your mind over and over about a character and then slam you with twists and turns before finishing, leaving you on the edge of your seat at times.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book again, as I have all of Gemma’s books! I devoured this one and look forward to the next!
