Really, Don’t Waste Your Money or Credits.
The Bane Chronicles is one of my favorite books all-time. So, naturally, I gave the story five stars. Not that Audible can take credit for Cassandra Clare’s marvelous work. I was really excited to read it again through Audible because some of Audible’s performances are simply amazing. But I can’t really say the same for this narration. First of all, having different narrators for Magnus really put me off. I’m okay if Magnus doesn’t sound like Magnus or that Alec has a British accent (okay, not really, that one crossed the line) or that Isabelle sounds like a little girl or...that... no one sounds like the characters. But secondly, it’s just way to much if the voices of the narrator and Magnus are constantly changing. It just makes me feel as if there are multiple main characters under the name of Magnus Bane. So you can’t call this the read-aloud version of The Bane Chronicles, because this Audible contradicts the book. In the book, Magnus’s voice is deeper than Alec’s, Izzy talks with fierceness and defiance, without the tone of a bratty teenager. And Clary doesn’t talk like that either. So really, this has just been a bad experience for me and may have ruined my vision of the Shadowhunter world forever. Thank you oh so very much for reading my review.

Great sleeping pill.
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Yes, find a better narrator. Have him narrate all the stories. Having different narrators all give there interpretation of Magnus Bane was very disconcerting.
What did you like best about this story?
The history it provided.
Would you be willing to try another one of Various’s performances?
NO
Was The Bane Chronicles worth the listening time?
No, I believe I would have preferred to read it.
Any additional comments?
I love Cassandra Claire's books. This one had great potential, but the narration ruined it.

I have never laughed so hard!
This book (compilation of short stories), especially the last entry was by far my favorite of all of the series. The levity and complexity if Mr. Bane is explored with through and clever glimpses into his history.
Any fan of the books will love this!
Some narrators are better than others and some stories more enjoyable.. But overall it's a great collection!

Short Stories Devout Fans Will Appreciate
This contains several short stories that brilliantly flesh out the gaps in Cassandra Clare's books. If you love the Mortal Instruments AND The Infernal Devices, then you'll appreciate most of the short stories, but be prepared for some of them (especially early on) to sound like bad fan fiction.

A brilliant collection
A briliant collection of short stories, chronicling events in the very long life of Warlock Magnus Bane. They are hilarious stories set in the world of Shadowhunters and Downworlders, from Peru, Paris, London and New York. They also fill in some of the history that is not fully revealed in the books series and are an excellent companion to The Infernal Devices and Mortal Instruments. Great to see they are now available as 1 book and includes an extra bonus story of phone messages to Magnus Bane, which is probably the funniest of all the short stories. All the narrators performed brilliantly as well.

Great Stories
The stories were fantastic. The first couple were a bit slow and meandering, but the remainder of them really filled in A LOT of gaps in the Shadow Hunter storyline. Lots and lots of insight there. MOST of the narrators were excellent, however there a one or two that made the stories drag at an excruciatingly painful rate. I almost skipped "Fall of the Hotel Dumort" read by Cecil Baldwin. It's a great story, but horribly narrated. As a stand alone series, the remainder are very good and worth the time and investment.

I wish the narrator for Bane didn't change
I liked the stories, but the changing narrators was annoying. Each story was narrated by a new person and while each on their own wasn't bad, it was jaring having Banes voice change. I wish the first narrator had narrated the whole book. He was good.

The Magnificent Magnus Bane
I could read an entire series of books about Magnus Bane. He’s funny, smart, and has such an enormous heart. This book is just a glimpse of the man he is, and the experiences that molded him. The Bane Chronicles is a must read after finishing The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices series. Most of the stories contained in this book give you a moment to breathe from the pain Cassandra Clare usually inflicts on her readers. There are a few stories that sting but I spent most of this book smiling and laughing at the hilarity that is the life of Magnus Bane.
