Publisher's Summary

Could she ever love a gentleman as much as she loved her magnificent home?

Isabella Beverley is blessed with unparalleled beauty but, unfortunately, has been raised in the most snobbish and haughtiest of families. When her father gambles away their fortune - including Mannerling, the exquisite family mansion - Isabella discovers there is very little sympathy for her plight. As the eldest, Isabella is chosen to court Mr. Judd, the roguish bachelor who won Mannerling. Surely no sacrifice is too great to regain Mannerling? But tempting her away from Mr. Judd is Lord Fitzpatrick, an Irish rake who fears Isabella can never love a man as she does her home. He is nonetheless determined to convince her to choose man over manse.

Well done

An excellent start to the series. The audio is very well done. I hope the same reader does the next book.

the Mannerling girls

I like to listen to this book while doing chores or cooking .
In this book we get to see the start of the mannerling madness. how the love for material things may blind you to the thing around you . But like in most of this book you will get a HEA.

Good story!

I enjoyed this book very much except the ending leaves you hanging. I think it’s not right for Audible to make the other books in the series cost you a credit. They are short books and I do not want to use my credit for a short story.

Really Juvenile

I like clean books, but this book seemed really silly and immature. I will ask for a refund.

Good read

I really enjoyed this narrator! The story held my attention. One becomes involved with the family plights and successes.

Story was ruined by narrator

The story was good, a typical MC Beaton story, of which I am a fan but I almost could not finish it because of the narrator. She was monotone, mumbled, and seemed to trail off. Her Irish accent was terrible and she could not produce a masculine voice for the male characters. I feel like the narrator took away from the story which was a shame.

Pleasant

This was probably truest to historical facts of the day than most period romances. Nothing too dramatic and everyone gets what they deserve.
