Up until now, Montana's journey really only went one direction: up. But now he's back at square one, stuck on top of a mountain with only the most basic gear to help get him back to Coggeshall. It's going to be a long walk. But not a boring one.

Story
Just yesterday, Ben was a petty criminal getting by on fleecing New York’s one-percenters. Today, he's got a new face, a new name, and a new world to navigate. And Ben’s thinking maybe this time around, he’ll use his skills at disarming and deceiving to help out people other than himself. Maybe. Watching a medieval City Guard fight off a 20-foot-tall ooze that crawled up from the sewers will make you think twice about life decisions.

After dying and being reborn into a world that's built like a video game, Jim has found himself stuck in a very old-world style new-player zone for low-level adventurers. Unfortunately, the zone fell out of use centuries ago, and no one told the monsters they were supposed to take it easy on the Noobs. Even worse, the only new player around is Jim. Story
An inn is a place to rest, a place to talk and share stories, a place to find adventure, or a starting ground for quests and legends. It is in this world, at least. To Erin Solstice, an inn seems like a medieval relic from the past. But here she is, running from Goblins and trying to survive in a world full of monsters and magic. She’d be more excited about all of this if everything wasn’t trying to kill her. But an inn is what she’s found, and so that’s what she becomes; an innkeeper, who serves drinks to heroes and monsters. Mostly monsters. But it’s a living, right?

Accidentally murdered by a cleric in another universe during a botched resurrection, Arnold, a semi-pro gamer, wakes upon an altar to find himself incarnated into the overweight body of a farmer who could have been his fatter twin. He’s not the hero. He’s not the villain. He’s certainly not the chosen one who is there to save the world. He’s a clerical error. It could be a bad joke, but apparently, it happens so often that they have a standard procedure for returning you.

When the people of Blackmoor Cove begin to ask about his combat role, Jack discovers his odd Hero Class and finds that parts of his game interface are riddled with exposed coding errors. Publisher's Summary
As usual, Montana Coggeshall is hell-bent on doing what's right, even if what's right isn't exactly what's wise. So he embarks on a quest to vanquish the corrupted ursus, a threat so large they could destroy the entire world of iNcarn8.
Does Montana head out after months of training for cold weather conditions, amassing an army, and strategizing with his top aides? Not really. It's more like he just walks out of his holding one day with a guide and the members of his hirð. They're just a bunch of angry teddy bears, right?
Montana is acting on pure instinct, tinged with a healthy dose of rage. He's stripped bare, and soon finds himself without food, supplies, a key magic weapon, or even his most loyal friends. Still, he continues.
Montana Coggeshall is on the hunt.

Not my favorite
Warning Mild Spoilers
In my opinion this has been the worst of the series so far. The MC seems to get dumber every book and claims he is getting better. The whole pacing of the book is off with dark moments that just seem worthless later and time wasting side quests just to be rushed later resulting with a horrible conclusion at the end. The author can’t seem to keep Montana’s character sheet straight and doesn’t reward him at all throughout the book. Examples of such are his shield level being off and the Armored Hide skill still being on his character sheet. He never gets levels anymore despite only being level 26 and killing things that would take an army. Also despite his constant fighting his skill levels never improve either. I have loved the series to this point and hope the next book is better but maybe spend more time proof reading.

Shorter than it deserves to be solid none the less
Well written, beautifully narrated and absolutely worth the credit.
Another chapter and delve into the world of Voldrani, Cogshall and another journey alongside the hearth.
Though it has felt like the last couple books in the series have been getting shorter in terms of depth of content. I sincerely hope this is a trend that will be broken.

Great series, slightly disappointing entry
I am a huge fan of the series so far. That being said, this feels like the weakest book so far. Compaired to the other entry’s in the series this feels like it has the most filler.
The RPG elements seem to get lighter and lighter. And when they do turn up, the maths is somewhat inconsistent. Looking back, it really feels like the MC hasn’t progressed much in levels or skills. He continues to collect interesting abilities which sound really useful but get used once or twice then are forgotten about.
Overall I would still recommend this book. The world seems fleshed out and I hardly stopped listening so despite it feeling like a lot of side quests I was still absorbed. I’m just hoping that the next book addresses some of the issues.
