Story
Telryn "Trip" Yert has always been a little odd, with hunches that are too accurate to explain. Magic is feared and forbidden in Iskandia, so he's struggled his whole life to hide his eccentricities. As a boy, he was forced to watch his mother's execution. Her crime? Witchcraft. Understandably, Trip wants nothing to do with the power that lurks within him, always threatening to reveal itself. Instead, he dedicates himself to serving as an officer in the king's army, to battling pirates and imperial conquerors. He longs to become a soldier as respected and renowned as General Zirkander.

Story
An enforcer wanted dead for crimes she didn’t commit.... An assassin wanted dead for crimes he did commit.... Normally, they would be enemies, but they both seek the same thing: exoneration. Unfortunately, a nefarious underground organization is attempting to kill the one man who could grant it to them - the emperor. If they want to win their freedom, they’ll have to battle powerful wizards, outscheme master schemers, and defeat bloodthirsty monsters, all while dodging friendly fire and evading the law. Exoneration isn’t easy.

I’m Val Thorvald, and I’m an assassin. When magical bad guys hurt people, I take care of them. Permanently. This doesn’t make me popular with the rest of the magical community — as you can tell from the numerous break-ins and assassination attempts I’ve endured over the years. But thanks to my half-elven blood, a powerful sword named Chopper, and a telepathic tiger with an attitude, I’ve always been able to handle my problems with aplomb. Maybe some cursing and swearing, too, but definitely aplomb.

Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Publisher's Summary
Ridge, Sardelle, and their comrades may have rescued Tolemek's sister and freed the dragon, but trouble awaits at home.
The king is missing, a secret organization is hunting sorcerers, and the capital is more vulnerable than ever to enemy attack. Worst of all, at least from Ridge's point of view, someone put that jackass Colonel Therrik in charge of the flier battalion.
Ridge and his allies have a lot of problems to fix, but they can't show their faces in the capital without being arrested or shot. This time it's going to take a lot more than magic to save the country.

Who has Dragon Blood?
Book 5 in the Dragon Blood series was the best so far. I have become vested in the characters after so many adventures, and I am still interested in following them. That is a good sign that the story is intriguing. Buroker has developed a world where there used to be magic, sorcery, and dragons; yet, most people don't believe in magic at all. Creating a strong, charming and apparently gorgeous (but not conceited at all) who was open-minded with a strong sense of fairness was a good way to introduce a beautiful sorceress into the story. Each novel introduces new characters while building on the previous ones, all while there are mysteries everywhere.
Caitlin Davis does a fantastic job narrating the story and her ability to create excellent voices for all of the characters - and there are many - both male and female. It is easy to decipher who is speaking and her choices enhance the experience of the story. I'm pretty picky with my credits, and I have used them on these. That means I would recommend this series, and this book is the best so far.

Floating City
This was another great book in the series. I was hoping a little bit more of the title to do justice to the book, but it didn't pan out how I thought. With the addition of another soulblade, even though it didn't seem sentient, I kind of hoped it would be, even if a little bit, and it would have had some memories, since it seemed older than the original soulblade full of snark that we know, but it didn't. I was a little disappointed there, but this book was fantastic. I loved the characters, the tension, and the plot. Another great book to the series.

ONE battle down
I am enjoying the DragonBlood series as a whole. This book seemed to have less content and moved much slower than the previous ones. I was also expecting to hear more about Tylee and the dragon, but didn't. On the plus side The battles were exciting and the light humor filled every page. We have been introduced to a new sorceress and sword, gotten rid of a few minor antagonists and learned more about our real enemy. I am looking forward to see how all the loose ends wind into the next book. I am enjoy Caitlin Davies various voices that make the story live.

Performance ruins it.
Can’t for the life of me understand why this performance / reading got the go ahead. There’s almost no acknowledgement of punctuation with pauses and emphasis seemingly random. I’m still not convinced it isn’t a computer generated voice. Anyway - read the book if the subject is your thing - I bought the books for my mum as I enjoyed the story and warmed to the characters but the experience was utterly spoiled by the narrator.

We always like to root for the underdog.
This is a surprising story, as it unravels. The lowly subjects are ready to lay their lives on the line to ensure that the country they call home, remains free.
I also admire the author's ability to make the tenderness between the two main characters shine through, as with the affection of the band of flyers.
Other books extrude lust, where this one seeps with love and affection. That is true penmanship, in my opinion.
The narrator's voice modulation, in some scenes, alone with the individuals voice characteristics, also adds to a very enjoyable experience.

A great continuation of the series, probably not a book that would be as engaging without having read the previous. The characters are complex, believable, flawed, and you get to know them without getting bored with too much detail.

I’m enjoying this series
I was moved to mention however a growing irritation with the clipped precise narration that sounds really unnatural in places and by this fifth book, has really begun to grate on my subconscious. She does well with all the voices tho and overall I’m really enjoying this series.

Best one yet!
This story got better as the books progressed and book 5 has been my favourite so far. I was disappointed in this book that there were a few characters that were introduced but not fully developed or resolved, author didn't seem to go anywhere with them, or explanation on some pivotal characters at the conclusion of the book were missing. The narrator still was annoying with the s l o w n e s s of her chapter announcements and some of her words were reminiscent of computer generated speech. All together I did like the story and it was enjoyable to listen too.
