Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

I'm enjoying the story but...
I really like Brent Weeks style of writing.
And like the voice and tone of the reader.
But I am completely and utterly disappointed with the background music. It is sooo distracting!!! Especially when the from beats. I don't recall anything of this noise listening to the first book.
I wish I could turn off the background music. I know why there is background sound but the made a bad choice!
The music can be so annoying that I have to stop listening and close the app.

I Don’t Want a Piano
In all fairness, I have not completed this book. I found the first book in the series to be engaging with a fresh new twist on what has otherwise become a “same as it ever was” magical tale. I thoroughly enjoyed the performance of Vance and my 3 stars here are not because of his ability. Here’s the problem: Why am I forced to listen to cheesy piano music and other random sound effects throughout the entire book without warning? It’s so distracting and subpar that it ruins the entire experience.

Fantastic fantasy
The story is excellent. The narration is excellent. If you loved the first book then this will not disappoint. You may be wondering which of the two versions to buy on Audible; both have the same narration but this version has ambient sounds and music in the background to help immerse yourself in the scenes. This was my first audio book listen that has done this and I really enjoyed the addition, but your mileage may vary.

What a tale!
I love this series! Brent does an amazing job of bringing in twists and new directions for the narrative. Some of which I have to admit I wish he didn’t but then they are so well written you can’t help but get swept away! Love the musical accompaniment
