Publisher's Summary

The Blinding Knife: Booktrack Edition adds an immersive musical soundtrack to your audiobook listening experience!

Gavin's powers are fading and his end draws near as war rages across the satrapies in the second novel novel of the NYT best-selling Lightbringer series by Brent Week.

Gavin Guile is dying.

He'd thought he had five years left - now he has less than one. With 50,000 refugees, a bastard son, and an ex-fiancée who may have learned his darkest secret, Gavin has problems on every side. All magic in the world is running wild and threatens to destroy the Seven Satrapies. Worst of all, the old gods are being reborn, and their army of color wights is unstoppable. The only salvation may be the brother whose freedom and life Gavin stole 16 years ago.

*Booktrack is an immersive format that pairs traditional audiobook narration to complementary music. The tempo and rhythm of the score are in perfect harmony with the action and characters throughout the audiobook. Gently playing in the background, the music never overpowers or distracts from the narration, so listeners can enjoy every minute. When you purchase this Booktrack edition, you receive the exact narration as the traditional audiobook available, with the addition of music throughout.

The music is annoying and frankly ruins everythin.

The music ruins a great book and fantastic narration, it is not an enhancement it's a cringworthy nesuance. If I wanted to listen to some music I would not be listening to a book.

Book Music

I hate the background music. It distracts from the book and is irritating as heck.

I'm enjoying the story but...

I really like Brent Weeks style of writing.
And like the voice and tone of the reader.
But I am completely and utterly disappointed with the background music. It is sooo distracting!!! Especially when the from beats. I don't recall anything of this noise listening to the first book.
I wish I could turn off the background music. I know why there is background sound but the made a bad choice!
The music can be so annoying that I have to stop listening and close the app.

I Don’t Want a Piano

In all fairness, I have not completed this book. I found the first book in the series to be engaging with a fresh new twist on what has otherwise become a “same as it ever was” magical tale. I thoroughly enjoyed the performance of Vance and my 3 stars here are not because of his ability. Here’s the problem: Why am I forced to listen to cheesy piano music and other random sound effects throughout the entire book without warning? It’s so distracting and subpar that it ruins the entire experience.

Great book, distracting music

The author and narrator were excellent. The music however was distracting at times. I would recommend purchasing the version without background tracks.

Fantastic fantasy

The story is excellent. The narration is excellent. If you loved the first book then this will not disappoint. You may be wondering which of the two versions to buy on Audible; both have the same narration but this version has ambient sounds and music in the background to help immerse yourself in the scenes. This was my first audio book listen that has done this and I really enjoyed the addition, but your mileage may vary.

What a tale!

I love this series! Brent does an amazing job of bringing in twists and new directions for the narrative. Some of which I have to admit I wish he didn’t but then they are so well written you can’t help but get swept away! Love the musical accompaniment
