Publisher's Summary
In 1942, Eva is forced to flee Paris after the arrest of her father, a Polish Jew. Finding refuge in a small mountain town, she begins forging identity documents for Jewish children escaping to neutral Switzerland. But erasing people comes with a price, and along with a mysterious, handsome forger named Rémy, Eva realises she must find a way to preserve the real names of the children who are too young to remember their own identities.
When Rémy disappears and the resistance cell they work for is betrayed, the records they keep in The Book of Lost Names become even more crucial to remembering the truth....
A present-day discovery of the book leaves researchers fascinated by its origins and desperate to decipher its codes. Only Eva holds the answer, but will she have the strength to face old memories and help reunite those lost during the war?

Loved this
Found this by mistake, as it looked like a Kristin Hannah book, but after reading a few reviews I decided to give it a go and I’m glad I did
Brilliantly written, with some great twists and this was the first I’d heard of children being smuggled out of the country so I found it really interesting
Have recommended it to friends!

Loyalty ,love romance, war.
memorable story of love and war during the french holacsust. Unbelievable people in unpredicted circumtances showing bravery and selflessness, never knowing who they can trust.
Even if the story is very romanticized, the facts are true and many lives were saved and many lives were lost whilst trying to save others. For this we owe these people eternal thanx and appreciation.

Amazing concept. Thought it was true.
Seems to be a dearth of novels being written about WWII. Some of them are very similar in plot. I absolutely love & respect what they contain, & sadly the injustices & persecution of races & religions was true. May we never forget. The truth is so shocking and distressing to read. What brave people these were. Prepare for tests.
Did find the other voices very grating, & annoying.

I really enjoyed this story. It had me crying with happiness and shouting in disbelief. Though the story is fiction the lives and troubles of the characters feels so real.

Magical mix of hope, despair and history
This story has the roller-coaster of emotions that is inevitably associated with holocaust fiction, happiness, courage, crushing devastation and hope. It draws you in with such ease that I listen to it all in 2 days. The narrators had wonderful animation and accents. Amazing!
