Publisher's Summary

Nina has her life just as she wants it: a job in a bookstore, a kick-butt trivia team, a world-class planner and a cat named Phil. When the father Nina never knew existed suddenly dies, leaving behind innumerable sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews, Nina is horrified.

They all live close by! They're excited to meet her! She'll have to Speak. To. Strangers. And as if that wasn't enough, Tom, her trivia nemesis, has turned out to be cute, funny, and deeply interested in getting to know her. It's time for Nina to come out of her comfortable shell. It's going to take a brand-new family, a persistent suitor, and the combined effects of ice cream and trivia to make her turn her own fresh page.

Returned

I was only in a few chapters and the narrator mispronounced one word to many, so I returned it. The book is definitely worth a read though.

DNF @ 30 %

Just couldn't connect with central character and mind kept wandering off, so constantly lost the plot. Tried several times over years but never made it over a quarter of the way through!

Fun, but trying too hard.

I like Abbi Waxman's sense of humour particularly in her first book (the Garden of small Beginnings) but there wasn't as much of it in this book. The book seemed to be trying too hard to be current in its themes and it just didn't really work for me. The male characters were a bit flat, though Nina herself was great. I had high hopes for this book and it started really well, sadly I felt it fizzled out and became quite cliche in the second half. Enjoyable enough but not a favourite.

Suggested book if I liked ‘where did you go Bernadette’

This book was just dreadful. I am not even sure who is it’s target audience as even millennials would be insulted by this fairy floss take on being a millennial! And it isn’t even in the same category as other quirky female best selling characters such as Bernadette or Eleanor Oliphant.

Did not like the narrator

Did not like the tone of the narrator and they way she had portrayed all the characters. They all sounded like air heads even the main character who was supposed to be and educated person!!!!

Terrible

Poorly developed 2D, shallow characters. A plot that is trying to be a rom-com and mostly failing on both counts.

The narrator had no range of voice for different characters and her expression seemed limited to monotone or over the top upwards inflection regardless of the dialogue.

Don't be fooled by the title folks - this is no The Book Ninja

Bright and bubbly

A likeable and relatable protagonist in a range of quirky and amusing situations. The narrator suits her character perfectly.

Poor narration

Audible is an app that exists solely so we can pay for the pleasure of having books being read to us. So it is entirely unprofessional to offer such a poorly read book for sale.
