Story
Hockey star Max Yearwood was everything I needed at the time - fun, sexy, up for anything, and only around for a few months, since he’d signed with a new team 3,000 miles away. Max proposed we spend the summer helping me forget my ex. It sounded like a good plan. Things couldn’t get too serious when we had an expiration date. Right? Though, you know what they say about the best-laid plans.

Story
If the Upper East Side had an evil twin, it would be Tickled Pink, Wisconsin. This run-down, backwoods town isn’t worthy of the footprint of my Louboutins, never mind all of me. But when my grandmother has a near-death experience and realizes we Lightlys can’t buy our way into heaven, she relocates the family to Tickled Pink to work on improving our souls. And that’s how I trade my heiress existence for gigantic bugs, dishwater coffee, and a cranky single dad named Teague Miller.

After I’m arrested for throwing a raucous party, my hockey team says I have an image problem. And I need to fix it, stat. Charity work? Check. Haircut? Sure. But I draw the line at hiring my neighbor to style me. In the first place “style” shouldn’t be a verb. And I’m tired of people who’d judge me on appearances. Vera and I don’t see eye to eye on anything. She wants me to try on clothes, while I just want to remove hers. She's distractingly pretty, with soulful eyes and a sinful mouth that likes to argue with me.

Who knew that weddings in Vegas were the real deal? I certainly didn’t when I agreed to marry my coworker while on a bender in Sin City. Now, I need a quick annulment, which means I need an attorney, STAT. Honestly, with a name like Grayson Sterling, Esquire, I expected an old man in a three-piece suit. But the guy behind the desk is anything but stuffy and old. Tall and sexy with tattoos and striking blue eyes, I simply can’t take my eyes off him, and I have no intention of declining his offer of a date…and more. So much more!

I caught the attention of a monster. I didn’t ask for it. Didn’t even see it coming. But the moment I do, it’s too late. Killian Carson is a predator wrapped in sophisticated charm. He’s cold-blooded, manipulative, and savage. The worst part is that no one sees his devil side. I do. And that will cost me everything. I run, but the thing about monsters? They always chase.

It was supposed to be an easy article about Cain Archer. Never did I think it would lead me straight into the arms of a serial killer. When the magazine I worked for sent me to write a piece on The Elysian, and the recluse architect who created it, I didn’t know what to expect. It certainly wasn’t him. He was supposed to be cold and cruel, but to me, he was intoxicating. Magnetic. And impossible to quit. The deeper I fell, the harder it became to ignore that inner voice, screaming that darkness followed Cain.

Donovan and I met at a coffee shop to do the suitcase exchange. Turned out, it wasn’t just his voice that was sexy. The man holding my luggage was absolutely gorgeous, and we had an immediate spark. He got me to admit that I’d snooped in his bag and then convinced me to make it up to him by letting him buy me coffee. Coffee led to dinner, dinner led to dessert, and dessert led to spending an entire weekend together. So what did I do to repay him for his kindness? I waited until he was in the shower, then ghosted him.

Last night was the most embarrassing night of my life. I was that girl. You know, the highly intoxicated chick celebrating her 30th with her two best friends - the ones who are happily married. And the more I drank, the more I wanted to do something reckless to celebrate. By reckless, I meant the sexy and alluring man dressed in a business suit standing near the bar.

Story
A new standalone novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author, Vi Keeland. The night I met Drew Jagger, he'd just broken into my new Park Avenue office. I dialed 9-1-1 before proceeding to attack him with my fancy new Krav Maga skills. He quickly restrained me, then chuckled, finding my attempted assault amusing. Of course, my intruder had to be arrogant. Only, turned out, he wasn't an intruder at all. Drew was the rightful occupant of my new office. He'd been on vacation while his posh space was renovated.

Reasons why I should not be drawn to Troy Serrano. Number one: He’s obnoxious. Number two: We were enemies more than a decade ago. Number three: He’s my friend’s ex-boyfriend. I could go on and on, really. When my boss gives me an unwanted assignment, and tells me it involves spending time with the grandson of one of our residents, the grandson turns out to be Troy. Lucky me. Four hours a week of having to deal with his insufferable personality and unsolicited advice - the only consolation is getting to stare at his annoyingly gorgeous face, in between our many arguments.

It started out like any normal day. Then the fender bender happened. The guy I collided with drove an expensive car and was drop-dead gorgeous. Too bad he was also a total jerk. We argued over whose fault it was and any other thing that came out of his condescending mouth. Eventually, the police came and we went our separate ways. The insurance companies would have to figure things out. I had a job interview to get to anyway - one I was excited about. Though that excitement changed to disappointment the moment the person interviewing me walked in. The guy from the accident.

Admittedly, it was a moment of weakness on my part. But even the strong-willed have been known to fall for a hard body underneath a tailored suit and a five o’clock shadow coating a sharp jawline. It didn’t matter that Jackson St. James was nothing but trouble. Trouble was just my type. Been there. Done him. Not making that mistake again. We were friends, a low-key affair we designed ourselves—over before we began. After all, together we made no sense. But maybe, just maybe, he’ll surprise me. He has before.... We may have started with a kiss, but how will we end?

The first time I met Hudson Rothschild was at a wedding. I’d received an unexpected invitation to one of the swankiest venues in the city. Hudson was a groomsman and quite possibly the most gorgeous man I’d ever laid eyes on. He asked me to dance, and our chemistry was off the charts. I knew it wasn’t a good idea to get involved with him, considering the wedding I was at. But our connection was intense, and I was having a great time. Though the fun came to a screeching halt when Hudson figured out I wasn’t who I’d said I was.

I thought my invitation was a birthday present from my best friend. The dress, the limousine, the red carpet...I thought they were meant for me. That was mistake number one. Then my date arrives, all gleaming cufflinks and tousled hair, steely blue eyes, and a body honed to masculine precision. Arrogant. Charming. Panty-melting. And melt, they do. Hanky-panky with a rich hottie in the back room of the event I'm crashing? Don't mind if I do.

Publisher's Summary
The first time I met Merrick Crawford was during my job interview.
Well, technically, I’d met him 20 minutes earlier when he’d barged into a fitting room a few doors down from my appointment.
I yelled. He yelled. After an argument while standing in my bra, I proceeded to smash the door into the gorgeous jerk, trying to yank it shut.
As you might imagine, I was freaked out when I discovered that the rude guy was my potential new boss.
Yet he didn’t seem to recognize me. Or so I thought.... Until we wound up bickering again during my interview and he told me to go sniff my armpit.
Okay, so maybe I hadn’t exactly been changing when he walked in on me. In my defense, I’d been stuck on a hot train for two hours and wanted to make sure I didn’t smell.
I obviously didn’t expect to get the job. But somehow an invitation to a second interview arrived in my inbox.
Before I left, I asked to see Merrick. I needed to know why I was even in consideration after our disastrous start.
Turned out, Merrick only wanted to hire me because I was the least competent candidate. It seemed his board was making him fill the position, against his wishes.
I didn’t really want to work in a place where my boss expected me to fail. But I figured maybe I’d enjoy proving him wrong. It was a little thing I dubbed the boss project.
What I wasn’t prepared for was that there would be other things I’d enjoy doing to Merrick Crawford.
Getting involved with the boss wasn’t the smartest choice.
But you know what they say about choices: Some we regret, some we are proud of. I just had no idea where this one was going to land.

This does not read like a Vi Keeland book
I am a big fan of Vi Keeland but this book does not read like one of hers. Vi's heroines are usually strong, smart, sassy, capable, take no BS women. That is what I liked about them. Evie is NONE of those things so far...I'm only on chapter 5 and am struggling to finish it. *spoilers* Opening chapter, Evie is in a job interview wearing a cherry stained shirt. Her explanation; she was eating cherries and dropped one on her shirt so decided to play it off as part of the shirt's design by deliberately adding MORE cherry stains to the rest of it. Needless to say she didn't get the job. Then the subway breaks down on the way to her next interview and she gets all hot and sweaty waiting. She ducks into a store to buy a new $140 shirt to wear to her next interview but goes into the MEN'S changing rooms instead of the women's. While in there without her shirt on she decides to wipe her arm pits then sniff them to see if she smells. This is interrupted by a man opening the dressing room door while she has her nose buried in said pit. They proceed to argue while she's standing there in a skirt and bra before he leaves. She walks into the interview to find the same guy is interviewing her. That interview doesn't go well either. Making matters worse is the constant reference to the arm pit sniffing incident. From there we find out that she ran out on her new husband at their wedding reception after showing a video of her new husband and best friend having sex in their honeymoon suite the night before the wedding. Because she went thru with the wedding before publicly humiliating him and her BFF, then filing for an annulment her ex-husband is suing her for the $10,000.00 he spent on the wedding. She goes to her ex-BFF's boyfriend who happens to be an attorney for help fighting the law suit only to find out he took said ex-BFF back so he couldn't represent her. I don't know any attorney worth a their fee who would have taken a lying, cheating, immoral partner back after seeing that video. Especially one who had no problem doing something like that to her "best friend". Seeing a pattern here? Then she goes to buy a hot dog for lunch only to find out her credit cards and bank accounts have been closed. Why? Because they were all JOINT ACCOUNTS with her ex! Not only that, she was using said bank account as her PERSONAL ACCOUNT to hold all HER money. Seriously? She couldn't see that coming? If it were me those would have been the first things I'd have taken care of the minute I hit the door at the wedding reception rather then wait for the inevitable the next time she tried to access funds. So far I'm only on the BEGINNING of CHAPTER 5. At this point I'm not even sure I WANT to finish this book. None of this book even remotely sounds like it came from Vi. I'm not going to say who it DOES sound like but if you've read HER books you'll know who I'm talking about even though HER name isn't anywhere on this book. If you like wishy, washy heroines, who are constantly finding themselves in embarrassingly painful awkward situations that don't use their common sense to figure out how to avoid situations (like pre-emptive strikes by closing ALL JOINT ACCOUNTS) that leave her twisting in the wind, this is the book for you. If you don't like heroines who are too stupid to live, can't keep it together for a single day, need a man to bail them out...keep looking elsewhere. Not even the stellar narration talents of Andi and Sebastian could save it for me. I will probably be returning this book VERY SOON.

Little Sebastian York
It was a pleasant fell good second chance romance. The narrators, Sebastian York and And Arndt, never disappoint, stellar narration. However, the story had little of Sebastian York, 65% of his delightful voice. I wish the plot had more participation of the male character. The story itself didn't disappointed but went slow until its reveal. I was waiting much more of Vi Keeland. Overall, it was somehow entertaining. Happy reading! ;-)

It all started with arm pits...
Another amazing read. I have such a love/hate relationship with Vi and Penelope's books. They've consistently put out page turners that I love yet I hate when the books end (even though the endingsare amazing too). They do such a wonderful job of immersing me into the story that I feel like I'm leaving friends behind when it ends.
The secondary characters are equally awesome as the main ones. GET THIS BOOK! You won't regret it.
Reasons to buy:
This was funny from the start, then we met the troubled boss and the deceptively fierce new therapist. The hilarious grandma kitty and her wild family tree, and let NEVER forget that there's always a twist you never see coming in all their stories.
I ordered the paperback too...per usual.

Well Done!
After a bad streak of reading/listening to multiple books in a row that didn’t hold my full attention, I was so excited to get into a new Vi Keeland story! She doesn’t disappoint!! Evie was a bit silly/flaky seeming at the outset but quickly proved to be likable, relatable, intelligent and strong. Merrick was sexy, charming, and possessive in the best way possible. He made some mistakes along the way, particularly toward the end but he had been through quite a bit of trauma in the relationship department and I felt for him as he worked through his pain and issues so that he could be the man Evie needed him to be. This storyline is a bit of a slow burn but so worth it. Great balance of depth, relationship building, character development, and heated scenes. Wonderful side characters as well. Top notch narration. 5 stars all around for me!

One of My Top Listens of 2022
Every time I start a new Vi Keeland book I know that I am in for an entertaining , well written, character driven read. The Boss Project is Ms Keeland at her very best. I loved it. From start to finish I was so involved that I read this in almost one go, I simply couldn’t put it down.
It was everything I was expecting and so much more. I fell hard and fast for Merrik Crawford and Evie Vaughn from their witty meet cute and it only increased as the story progressed. From the moment they met the chemistry and sparks flew and The Boss Project was full of fun, with plenty of heart, steam and witty banter. I spent a great deal of the time laughing out loud and swooning. It was wonderful to watch their relationship develop and I found myself smiling continuously.
One of my top reads of 2022 and the narration by Sebastian York and Andi Arndt was spot on. They brought the characters to life and did this fantastic story justice.

This book made me giggle, swoon, tear up, and fan myself! Lol. A great slow-burn, office romance.
Andi and Sebastian did a superb job narrating, as always!

Outstanding story…
Vi always delivers a fantastic story but she excelled herself this time. This book has it all - a gorgeous cover, the best narrators and a storyline that’s romantic, sexy, funny and sad in places too. All in all it’s a real workout for a huge range of emotions. Don’t deliberate it download it.

Really enjoyable but…
A great story, with lots of humour. The characters were very likeable. The only issue I had was the later sex scenes which quite suddenly became kind of trashy. I found it a bit jarring. Maybe others will like that.
