Publisher's Summary

Stuntman and two-time cancer survivor Memphis Haines excels at beating the odds. When he's presented with the opportunity to help his ex-boyfriend with a charity event, he jumps at the chance to make up for the devastating way he left Tyler 10 years ago. Memphis might have taken the college geek's virginity, but the former mathlete is now a hell of a head turner.

Tyler Hall sticks to one simple mandate: no more dating ex-boyfriends. Ever. He certainly isn't interested in hooking up with Memphis Haines. Ten years ago, falling for Memphis changed Tyler's life. The man's abrupt departure turned his world inside out. But he moved on long ago. Besides, he has a clinic for the homeless to run. Memphis, however, seems determined to rehash the past. And his hard body and confident charm are resurrecting ultra-hot memories best not remembered, making Tyler's rule harder and harder to keep.

Contains mature themes.

Love the story!! Did not love the Performance

Any additional comments?

I was already in love with this story because I owned the book version. I like to buy the audible version because it brings the story to life for me. I was so let down when I listened to this. I don't think Marc Bachmann should be reading romance. He read this story like he was reading classic literature. At one point I thought he had a slight British accent because of all the drama in a simple sentence. I was so not impressed.

Excellent writing makes for a beautiful MM romance novel!

If a book stirs up emotions in me, then I know the writer has mad skills, is talented big time. I loved this book. I started listening yesterday and finished this evening. Could not stop listening to the beautiful narration of Marc Bachmann; the work he did on the voices was simply great. Next in the series, Noah’s love story, with the Texan surgeon, will be a treat. River Jaymes worked out the characters in detail and added extra characters who fitted in the story without being overbearing. After having read book 1, I did not expect to read about Tyler next, nor did I expect this much emotional dept in the story. I am a satisfied customer. Thank you River Jaymes and please keep them coming. I’m a fan. ❤️

I struggled to finish this.

After reading the first book in the series I had been looking forward to the next. I am saddened to admit that finishing this book was a struggle.
Beware of Spoilers:
Both MC annoyed the absolute Hell out of me. Having any kind of illness does not give you the right to make someone feel less about themselves. I don't care what his "reasons" were. Tyler experienced so much emotional abuse and abandonment that wasn't really addressed. He also basically took the blame for their break-up in college. It upset me a lot to see it pushed aside like it was nothing. Once a toxic relationship, always a toxic relationship unless past wrongs are righted and learned from.
Also, Memphis lied to his parents about why he and Tyler broke up the first time. Are you telling me that they didn't think that Tyler dumped him over the Cancer and think less of him over the years? Tyler deserved way better!
The narration was good considering what he had to work with.

Second chances

I love second chance romances and this one doesn't dissappoint. It made me love Tyler who I really really disliked in the first book. The narrator does a great job though I found how he said forehead odd and it si used A lot in this series, but that is just my weird self.

Just as great as the book

Any additional comments?

Read the book, but I wanted to "listen" to my characters.

What I love most is I tend to be a fast reader, so listening I often find I hear things I have either forgotten or just simply missed. Which happened with this story as well.

I truly love River Jaymes and her writing, The way she brings the characters to life.

Narrator did a great job

Any additional comments?

Same narrator as the first book in the series and he did another excellent job. I like his voice for Noah the best.

I enjoyed the plot of this book although it seemed as if the sex scenes could have been cut back some. They were well written but at times were a distraction from the main story. I can't say I liked Memphis much at first, but he eventually grew on me. I think I felt more of an emotional connection with Tyler - who hasn't been dumped by someone and left wondering why? Overall, I'm glad I got this audiobook.
