Publisher's Summary

The Brain Audit is a complete system that enables you to understand what's going on inside of your customer's brain.

It's a system that is based on a deep understanding of how our mind works. It shows you the bags inside your customer's brain. It gives you an understanding of how the brain responds to specific psychological triggers. And it speeds up the sales process, without the need to be pushy.

Being pushy is unnecessary. It creates an unnatural situation.

Instead of teaching you how to use mind tricks, how to psyche the customer into buying against his or her will, or being a system of coercion, The Brain Audit simply shows you how to attract and maintain the attention of a customer.

It shows you where the attention wavers and takes you through a series of steps that we all take on a day-to-day basis when buying products or services.

It also gives you a checklist that takes the 'iffiness' factor out of your own marketing and communication.

Good content, annoying production

The actual content was solid. The music in between every paragraph break (which occasionally is a single sentence) was obnoxious. The constant annoying distraction was frustrating and makes it hard to recommend the audiobook despite meaningful content.

constant music interludes ruin the audiobook exper

the information presented in this book is very good, however, the audiobook version has these short musical interludes that happened more than any other audiobook I've ever heard. At first I thought there was something wrong with the playback until I realized there was not. Unfortunately this experience ruins the audiobook because it makes the book unlistenable.

Great book, but the jingle was way too much.

Incredibly valuable info, and well presented. Practical, well planned, with good examples. The jingle, was, however, mind-numbing.

Is there a version without the little jingle?

Great content and I'm sure there's a "psychological" reason for the jingle, but GOT DAMN. It became annoying. An audio book should just be someone reading what the book says in an attention-sustaining tone(not mono-tone)...the jingle every few sentences, maybe after each "paragraph" was too much!

Remarkable and original approach

When I first heard the book I thought for some reason it might be a bit amateurish, however I was truly amazed by the authentic nature of the author and the information he shares. His storytelling is endearing and it was actually a book I didn't want to stop reading.

As a practising marketer, the systems shared in this book have revolutionised the processes I use in my business day to day.

A lot of people reference the chapter on testimonials, which I agree, are worth the book price on their own.

However, the chapters on headline writing and risk reversal are also fundamental and unique compared with a lot of the mainstream books on marketing that revisit the same concept from 20 angles. Each chapter of this book has something unique to offer.

This is a great book for any business owner or marketer working on a tight budget and who's wanting their marketing campaign to cut through a sea of mediocrity.

Since reading this book, I've been enjoying what the author has to share in other forums: podcasts and online.

The author's style might not be everyone's cup of tea, but those that do will love his originality.

I'd recommend The Brain Audit for anyone looking for original tactics to make an impact and get results.

Sound Effects Destroyed the Audiobook For Me

Not a big fan of the sound effects added to the audiobook, I found it extremely distracting.

Not for me

I came to this selection looking for a negotiation tome, but its pretty much marketing. You might get some value if that is your interest. I got about half way through, then moved on.

Meh

The concepts are decent. I didn’t like the music between statements. This book could have been 45 minutes of content.

Excellent book with loads of helpful suggestions

Very clear and easy to understand guide. Good structure that makes it easy to follow.

I was initially put off by other reviews criticising the jingles, however they really didn't bother me at all and did not impact on my enjoyment of the book.

The content is good, but the jingles annoyed me

The book would be better without the same jingle repeating after what seemed like every headline. Having some music was completely fine, but that one jingle just annoyed me to the point where I wanted to stop listening and get back to the book later.

The content is solid though, and presented in an easy to understand way.

Good book

Good book, good advice, pleasant friendly narration. The music between the chapters was driving me nuts a bit though lol, because I am usually listening everything in a higher speed, so it sounded like an absolute drum and bass mess xD

What is that annoying jingle!!!

I tried so hard to get into this but the repetitive jingle throughout is so annoying to the point where I could focus on nothing else! For this reason I had to stop listening , it’s just not necessary and spoilt the audiobook.

Are you missing out on sales? This book reduces that likelihood significantly.

Sean writes in plain English, with seven clear steps to why people make a decision to buy, and why they don’t.

Marketing and sales can be a bit like throwing darts and hoping for a bullseye every now and then. Sean’s easy listening, funny and informative educative book helps you get much better at aiming.

This book has radically changed how I think about marketing and sales. As someone starting a new business on their own, this is ABSOLUTELY vital reading (or listening material).

If you are looking for a tried and tested, robust process for creating a sales “funnel” that works - listen to what Sean has to say. I’m confident you’ll be able to put to action what you learn immediately. There’s no wish-washy “theory” here. Practical stuff that has been proven to work time and time again.

Thank you Sean. I also bought the physical book whilst reading this because I wanted to have a reference to all of his amazing advice!

This is the second book review I’ve ever written. The first was for my mothers debut novel - please don’t take this review lightly - do not hesitate, read The Brain Audit now!!

The best summary I have read

The Brain Audit is to the point, super clear, and the strategy is very achievable. The author narrates the book with his lovely easy to listen to voice, thoughtfully adding in little musical signals to mark paragraph breaks and new chapters. He is clearly a natural teacher and demystifies the process people go through when making buying decisions, a subject now very popular amongst marketers selling various programmes. The check lists are invaluable and I have already implemented some of the steps. This is a must-read/ listen before going down the rabbit warren of programmes - you'll either save the money or go in much more aware.
