Couldn’t finish
I honestly hate writing bad reviews but I could only manage to get about a third of the way through this book so I think that warrants writing done my thoughts.
I use audible to listen to books when I go on long runs. What I was finding with the Brighton mermaid was that the story was so slow after an hour and a half run barely anything had happened. It was incredibly slow. I love a murder mystery and appreciate that sometimes slow story progression builds tension but this was too much. I wouldn’t recommend this book.

ENTHRALLING MYSTERY ... REALLY REVELLED IN IT!
It tool me a little while to get into this excellent thriller and might have given up if I was not already a Dorothy Koomson fan. Loved the narration of Nell, not so much Macy, but it all balanced out to create a tale well told. It was a captivating mystery full of twists and turns and very well written and fresh, unique, quality storyline .Loved the tantalising secrets and viewpoints of the different characters on other characters which kept you off-balance and guessing all the way through and I did not guess what it was all about or who could be trusted until the reveal which was good.
It kept me really eating it up all the way along, deducted one star from the story as I found the ending, while still exciting and full of twists and turns, to be a little implausible compared to the tightly wound plot - and also I would have thought CCTV might have called a halt to some of the shenanigans quite swiftly plus rather daft mistakes made by villain early on was a bit hard to swallow especially as it was rather vital to the events which unfolded as a result of them. So ending and plot reveal did lose all credibility for me really but I suspended disbelief and enjoyed it all the same.
All in all I did really really enjoy the building tension and storyline and it was a very absorbing and interesting read, well written , original and head and shoulders ahead of 95% of thrillers, so a big thumbs up!

Very entertaining
At first I was a little unsure but I stuck with it and thoroughly enjoyed it. It drifted a bit now and then and towards the end it seemed a little muddled and a tad unbelievable but overall a good story. Thought the narration was excellent.

Disappointing
I used to love Koomson's books but this one was just too far fetched and unbelievable. I also found both the lead female characters to be unlikable and irritating.

More Than Satisfied my Mermaid and Mystery Obsession
She’s done it again. Another brilliant book from Dorothy Koomson.
The pace is perfect and the opening chapter draws you right in.
I myself love mermaids so the title intrigued me from the off. The descriptions of the places in Brighton are so good that I can picture them vividly in my head. Another book that has made me want to visit Brighton at least once in my lifetime.
Twists and turns that leave you thinking “just one more chapter” over and over again.
Definitely a book I’ll read again and again and again.

Breathtaking book
Apart from a couple of sex scenes I found too explicit I enjoyed every moment of this book.
And as the story developed I realised that even the explicit scenes had a role within the storytelling.
The narrators were brilliant and the ending certainly was a twist.
Certainly I would try another book from this author.

Not her best
The plot of this novel is mightily unlikely, so I struggled to really get into this. But the narration is good, and it helped pass the time. Just not a memorable listen and not one of Koomson's best efforts.
