Story
When Nina Linden is hired to landscape a private island off the New England coast, she sees it as her chance to rebuild her failing business after being cheated by her unscrupulous ex. She never expects that her new client, software mogul Deacon Whitney, would see more in her than just a talented gardener. Deacon has paid top dollar to the crews he’s hired to renovate the desolate Whitney estate - he had to, because the bumps, thumps, and unexplained sightings of ghostly figures in 19th-century dress are driving workers away faster than he can say “Boo.”

When it rains, it pours...and sometimes love finds you even when you can’t find yourself. Fate has given me a second chance at the happiness I once knew in the odd Southern town of Grimm Cove. But only if I can come to terms with some rather eye-opening revelations. Supernaturals are a real thing. I'm a witch. My high school sweetheart, who happens to be the Chief of Police in Grimm Cove, is my fated mate and a wolf-shifter. Ghosts exist and can be very nosy and meddlesome. Someone is murdering witches left and right.

Scarlet Sanderson isn't a paranormal being per se, but she's no stranger to things that go bump in the night. She's had the ability to see and speak with ghosts since she was eight years old. Whether it's a gift or a curse is still up for debate. She moved to the picturesque town of Beechwood Harbor to open a flower shop and start a new life after years of being a nomad. What she didn't expect to find was a town filled with witches, vampires, shape-shifters, and ghosts. So, so many ghosts.

Publisher's Summary
Iris Scanlon, Half-Moon Hollow's only daytime vampire concierge, knows more about the undead than she'd like. Running all their daylight errands - from letting in the plumber to picking up some chilled O neg - gives her a look at the not-so-glamorous side of vampire life. Her rules are strict; relationships with vamps are strictly business, not friendship - and certainly not anything else. But then she finds her newest client, Cal, poisoned on his kitchen floor, and only Iris can help.
Cal - who would be devastatingly sexy, if Iris allowed herself to think that way - offers Iris a hefty fee for hiding him at her place until he figures out who wants him permanently dead. Even though he's imperious, unfriendly, and doesn't seem to understand the difference between "employee" and "servant", Iris agrees, and finds herself breaking more and more of her own rules to help him - particularly those concerning nudity. Turns out what her quiet little life needed was some intrigue and romance - in the form of her very own stray vampire.

Once again this should have disclaimers
Any additional comments?
Once again this audiobook should come with disclaimers about NOT eating or drinking while listening!
As always Molly Harper brings her razor sharp wit and sense of humor to her stories. With the help of Amanda Ronconi the voices of Iris, Cal, and Gigi come blasting into life!
Since I hate reviews that give too much away as far as the plot goes, I will say that having familiar Half Moon Hollow characters making guest appearances was like coming home!
I wish Molly Harper would write more for Iris and Cal because I could see some amazing adventures with these guys!

I Love Molly Harper!
What did you love best about The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires?
I love Harper's writing it sounds like me and my friends hanging out if Vampires were real of course. I love the banter between her characters and all the snark.
What does Amanda Ronconi bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Amanda Ronconi is one of my favorite narrators. She is amazing with her voice changes for each character and her line delivery is fantastic. The combination between Harper's humor and Ronconi's delivery has me laughing out loud on the train which can be a little embarrassing but worth it.
Any additional comments?
I highly recommend all of Molly Harper's books I must say and this one is right up there with the rest of them.

The Dynamic Duo Strikes Again!
Any additional comments?
The best team in Audio make for another terrific adventure. Molly Harper has by far the best sense of humor and Amanda Ronconi brings it to life. This has become one of my favorites from this author. It is more detailed and descriptive than the Werewolf series (although I love them too!) with the same sarcastic sense of humor as the Naked series.
I love all her books and hope she writes many, many more while teamed with the best narrator in the business. I promise anyone with a sense of humor will love any of Molly's books. They are my favorite!

Vampire+Mystery+Spunky Female=A Delight
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely. The story is outstanding the characters have a pulse or not but you care for them none the less. I must admit I didn't see some of the plot points coming. This makes the listen all the more enjoyable.
What did you like best about this story?
The wittiness of Iris. There is just something about the skill in which Molly Harper invests into her female protagonists. They have heart, spunk, ingenuity and resourcefulness that tells me that if I had the opportunity to meet any of these wonderful woman including Iris, we would be instant friends.
What does Amanda Ronconi bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Amanda allows her voice to more than speak the words. She brings passion, mystery and sometimes just plain silliness that I adore. I have loved every last one of her portrayals in Molly Harper's books.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Not every day sucks!
Any additional comments?
If you find this book enjoyable than I would recommend all of the Harper books in the Nice Girls Don't series and Driving Mr. Dead. Ms. Ronconi brings life to the delightful words that Ms. Harper has penned with grace and finesse.

Enjoyed It--Funny
I am anxiously awaiting the next Molly Harper book. I don't believe in all these vampires, either in the the book or in all the movies, but this book was down right funny. And Amanda Ronconi makes it even funnier. I broke out laughing more than one time.
I tried to figure out who would be the next character for the next book, but could not. Keep them coming MH.

Sometimes too much is too much
What did you like about this audiobook?
I enjoy the voice of the author. Very much so. The narrator has a good grasp of the cadence and speech patterning for the different characters.
How has the book increased your interest in the subject matter?
The story is okay. It's a fun listen, but it's not really informative. You either buy the premise of there being a village of werewolves in Alaska, Ontario and elsewhere, or you do not. There's no attempt to convince the reader of the fact. This gives the story a sense of veracity that makes it even more fun.
What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?
Nothing.
Do you have any additional comments?
There's a couple of very explicit sexual scenes that I feel do very little to drive the story in the explicitness. There's just no need for the description of the actual act and foreplay. These scenes are jarring and took me right out of the story's entrancement. There's nothing wrong with a sexual scene in a story, mind. Just that these are too much. Just too much, too clinical and too explicit in terms of the lightheartedness of the story.

Spin off but just as funny as Molly's other books.
What did you love best about The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires?
The story was a typical interesting story plot, but it was made great by the author's sence of humor and the narrator's ability to make it sound funny too. I love to laugh during a book, my day can lack humor so I need to have a release and feel the laughter bubble out of me.
What does Amanda Ronconi bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Love, love, love Amanda. I was glad she was brought back for this book. She has the voice that can make a statement funny. Wonderful narrator!
Any additional comments?
For those who want more about the book itself...
This is the story of Jane's wedding organizer. She runs a day service for the undead and is hired to hide her client for a time so he doesn't become perminately dead.
They get to know each other and live happily ever after.
There is a lot more to the plot and it is hilarious at times, crushing at times, and down right fun read. If you want a light read for the enjoyment of reading something give it a try. If you like Molly's other books you'll like this one too. Happy listening!

The entire series and Molly Harper’s Worlds
I am listening to the Half Moon Hollow series a second time. It’s just as fresh, funny and memorable as the first listen. So far, I have every one of Ms. Harper’s books in Audible form and regardless of whether I’m driving, in dr’s waiting room or waiting for my truck to be inspected, I laugh out loud. They are all so entertaining and although most are supernatural stories, they’re very individual stories.
Amanda Ronconi does an admirable job of reading all of Ms. Harper’s stories. She does a decent job with all of her accents and makes a good story, great.

Points for hottie bad guy!
I was pleasantly surprised with Molly Harper's latest, The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires.
I've read all her work (and I love Amanda Ronconi as her narrator) but generally felt that all her main characters across different books were largely the same. I had expected this book to be the same as the last one, Driving Mr Dead, since the premise is very similar, and was delighted to see that it was not only different, but also much more substantial, with well thought-out and fleshed out characters.
As per usual, the main point of the book is humour and romance, and the plot isn't that thrilling if you're not into botany but mostly serves as a mechanism to facilitate trials and opportunities for the romance to develop. At times the humour seems like an unrealistic reaction and detracts from a sense of peril, but since I don't think this is a genre of books which is supposed to be taken very seriously, it didn't ruin my experience.
The story progresses at a good pace and kept me interested all the way through.
The highpoint of the book for me was the sexy-evil-bad-guy scenes, even though I'm probably not supposed to cheer for him.

Funny, great story and excellent narrator!
Would you listen to The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires again? Why?
Yes, I would be happy to listen to this book again in future.
What did you like best about this story?
I have listened to all of the Jane Jameson books and I really enjoy Half Moon Hollow and it's supernatural population so was keen to learn more about some other residents of the Hollow. As always the female characters were strong, independent and feisty, while the vampires struck the balance of tough and flawed and as usual, the romantic hero was a very attractive character.
Have you listened to any of Amanda Ronconi’s other performances? How does this one compare?
Amanda is a great narrator and perfect for Molly Harper's books. Her characterisation is great, everyone has a unique voice and delivery that suits their character perfectly. Her pace is spot on - not too fast and not too slow - and her inflection is great.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Lots of parts of the book made me laugh, Molly Harper's writing is witty and very clever.
Any additional comments?
I love the way Molly Harper characterises her vampires as flawed but in a funny way, not in the tortured, brooding way some other vampire series have gone for. She really brings a smal, southern American town to life without being derogatory and you really get a feel for the quirks and foibles of southern traditions.

Fun and frolics in the hollow
Funny, quirky and made me smile a lot, a great story line too. With murder, espionage, and some great twists.

Laugh out loud
What a talent! The subject of vampires is so popular now that it must be almost impossible to get a new angle but Molly Harper has managed it beautifully - brilliant witty dialogue and made me laugh out loud on more than one occasion - not just between the heroine and hero but also the other characters in the book - excellent narration too - very refreshing and easy listening!

Vampires - Good. Love Story - Poor
Thought the explanation of the vampire world was good but didn't buy the love story or the dynamic between the main character and her wee sister. The wee sister is treated and acts like she is 13-14 years old but then find out she's 17?

Funny book keeps you entertained.
Where does The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Light and interesting story and a little different. So an enjoyable story.
What did you like best about this story?
It's just something different. The thought of someone having a business providing day time services to vampires seems a great idea.
Which scene did you most enjoy?
That's a hard question as I enjoyed it all. The interactions between Iris and her younger sister were good fun.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes found it very compelling to know what happened next.

funny lighthearted story
If you’ve listened to books by Molly Harper before, how does this one compare?
I really loved her werewolf series set in alaska and they were much more chuckle worthy than this so I liked them slightly more. I plan on reading or listening to as many of her books as possible though. th
Would you listen to another book narrated by Amanda Ronconi?
yes although one of the ones she narrates for molly harper she puts on an astoundingly terrible Irish accent, that is one to avoid if your Irish or british or just know and care what an Irish person should sound like. (its a bit like sean connery playing a spannish dude and and christopher lambert playing a scottish one in highlander lol)
Was The Care and Feeding of Stray Vampires worth the listening time?
yes and im sure i will listen to it again at some point.

Fun
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I'd listened to a Molly Harper previously and loved it so I thought I'd try another. The narration was excellent and really the best thing about it. The story was very similar to the last one and it is clear the author doesn't stray too far from the formula. That said it was entertaining and got a lot better as the story developed, very funny towards the end.

Hilarious
Another hilarious addition to this fun series. So many laugh out loud moments. Poor Iris cops it from all sides when tries to secretly help Cal & happy to get a little more of Sophie, we only ever get a little bit of her but really enjoy her character.
