She's been crushing on him since they met. If only he thought of her the same way.... The girls are touching up their makeup, and the guys are sliding on their coats when the doorbell rings. No one is there. An envelope sits on the doormat. It's an anonymous note addressed to their friend Sonny. A secret admirer? Maybe. They all laugh it off.

She bursts into my life like a storm, and nothing is the same again. One by one, I watch as my friends fall under her spell. Only I see that her smiles don’t reach her cold, furious eyes. And when I’m accused of things I didn’t do, when my home is vandalized, I know she’s behind it. But she only lets her mask slip when no one is looking, so if I say anything, I’ll look crazy. So when the baby shower comes around, I’m sitting on a velvet sofa in a posh hotel room, surrounded by balloons. But that afternoon, I finally learn the unbelievable truth. There is no baby....

Story
This stunning debut novel from Australian author Lucy Christopher generated considerable buzz for its nonstop suspense and breathtaking imagery. Sixteen-year-old Gemma is on a layover at Bangkok Airport, headed to Vietnam with her parents. Then the vaguely familiar Ty drugs Gemma’s drink and steals her away. Her head swirling in confusion, Gemma soon finds herself fighting to survive in the unforgiving Outback.

Publisher's Summary
"Lily?" My stomach dropped as a tall, dark-haired man stepped into view. Had he been hiding between the trees? "No. Sorry." Gulping, I took a step back. "I'm not Lily." He shook his head, a satisfied grin on his face. "No. You are Lily." "I'm Summer. You have the wrong person."
You utter freak! I could hear my pulse crashing in my ears. How stupid to give him my real name. He continued to stare at me, smiling. It made me feel sick. "You are Lily," he repeated. Before I could blink, he threw his arms forward and grabbed me. I tried to shout, but he clasped his hand over my mouth, muffling my screams. My heart raced. I'm going to die.
For months, Summer is trapped in a cellar with the man who took her - and three other girls: Rose, Poppy, and Violet. His perfect, pure flowers. His family. But flowers can't survive long cut off from the sun, and time is running out....

Finally, a 1at POV!
Well written and suspenseful. I actually found myself being more aware of my surroundings as I ventured out alone to start my day. I have to say, however, the ending was just too "heroic." I'd like to see a sequel that reveals the emotional struggles of the protagonist post-survival. Anyone can survive; few people really live. All in all, a great read!

The Cabin was better
I just didn't get as into this one. I listened to The Cabin by the same author and liked it so I thought I'd give this a try but it just didn't hold my interest in the same way. The female narrator was okay and I liked one of the male narrators but the other one (I don't know which was which) had a voice that kind of annoyed me. He wasn't in it too much which is why I still gave this 3 stars.

ONLY OKAY
Listening to Summer cry all the time got old and I felt the ending was anti-climactic. Half way into it, I just wanted it to be over and was really hoping the ending would save it for me, but it didn't. It wasn't horrible, was just kind of a boring read.

It was very predictable.
I felt like I had watched this same story line in a movie before. Maybe. It was just OK for me. I listened to it over a span of a week. I hate when books just abruptly end. Like the author got tired of writing.

Boring, bland, non climactic and predictable.
I kept waiting and waiting for a twist to happen. No twists, no surprises. The same thing happens over and over with painful repetitiveness. The narrator sounded as bored as I felt. There was absolutely no suspense. Ending was just as plainly written and bland as the rest of the book. I was thankful when it was over. My worst audiobook choice so far.
