- By cheryl on 01-05-18
By: Sherryl Woods
Publisher's Summary
With its breathtaking vistas and down-to-earth people, Thunder Point is the perfect place for FBI agent Laine Carrington to recuperate from a gunshot wound and contemplate her future. The locals embraced Laine as one of their own after she risked her life to save a young girl from a dangerous cult. Knowing her wounds go beyond the physical, Laine hopes she'll fit in for a while and find her true self in a town that feels safe. She may even learn to open her heart to others, something an undercover agent has little time to indulge. Eric Gentry is also new to Thunder Point. Although he's a man with a dark past, he's determined to put down roots and get to know the daughter he only recently discovered. When Laine and Eric meet, their attraction is obvious to everyone. But while the law enforcement agent and the reformed criminal want to make things work, their differences may run too deep; unless they take a chance on each other and find that deep and mysterious bond that belongs to those who choose love over fear.

Just boring.
I have listened to all of Robyn Carr's Virgin River series and those were awesome. Everyone of them! But this series is just plain old boring. I'm not looking for a bunch of torchered souls but it would be nice to have some twists and turns. Maybe even a little chuckle. Just something. I kept hoping but nothing really exciting happens. Need to rename it "Pleasant Valley" because everyone is pleasant. I think I am done with this group. Sorry Ms. Carr. Still love ya, tho.
Therese Plummer is awesome, however.

WELCOME BACK TO THUNDER POINT
If you could sum up The Chance in three words, what would they be?
I LOVE IT
Who was your favorite character and why?
ERIC~ he says it through the entire book.. Second chances do come our way.. And the Chance we take, is costly at times, and we much pay the price for what ever do we do in life, but it teaches us, we hope not to make the same mistakes again and we learn from them.. If you read this book.. Listen to what the Judge tells him ( Eric) when he is a teenager about the cost of being and doing wrong, and what is can cost you being at the wrong place and the wrong time..when you know better.. Eric was and it cost him time.....but the lesson here is what the judge says.... I'ts really good..
What does Therese Plummer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Therese Plummer is an excellent reader of Robyn's Books. Especially those from the Thunderpoint Series. She knows just how to bring everything to life with each charater.. she don't just read, she put's emotion, and herself into these books.. I have to say she is about the best when is comes to anything you wanted to bring forth in a book.. love it Way to Go.. Ms. Plummer.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Yes, when Lane is helping her father, whom she has been estranged from because of an arrgurment at Christmas time.. But the times she spends with him brings so much to light.
Any additional comments?
Once again Robyn Carr has a hit.. I have been waiting what seems like a year for anything from the Thunderpoint Series.. I love the town, (to bad I can't move there) and the personality she's given her new characters Lane and Eric is great,, They have one thing in common..which you will find out by reading the book.. it's good...
Robyn Carr gives us detailed scenes about who and what all Thunderpoint resident are and look like.... so that when we close our eyes you see them.. Her description of everyone is and always has been so articulated that I feel like I would know them if I went into town if it existed..
In this book, she brings Lane, the Hero FBI Operative who filtrated the cult near Thunderpoint and was shot saving them all but one, in the last of the series. Another great book.. She moved to Thunderpoint to heal, that arm. what was shot and operated on and she meets the gorgeous Eric, who can't get enough of her from day one.. He loves her sass and straight forwardness and wonders if he would ever have a chance of her looking his way.. But don't count Lane out.. she is a looker alright, and looking herself.. She loves the town and stays for a while to just relax and heal.. Things she loves is good people, her family, and loves to cook. but at the same time, she is looking for someone to help her get over what she went through with the rescue..In other words the cold nights and maybe to keep her warm as well.. Then She meets Eric, who we all know he is the x boyfriend of Max's (the sheriff's) wife. And they have a 16 year daughter. He came to TP to help her through college. Or at least choose one. He loves his daughter but would not mind having Lane near him. either for dinner or just kiss her once.. He is so smitten by her and she him.. . But he would never be that brazen. But Lane is not shy and goes after what ever she wants.. and Eric looks good to her.. The one liners they have in this is amazing.. Lane is one great addition to Thunderpoint. .
. Not a small town girl.. she waits.. and finally just goes after him saying.. If you can't ask me out.. I will do it. Eric has and owns a Garage, he and Lane just become a hot couple. They adore and compliment each other so.. But trouble is always somewhere.. But it's not where you think.. It's in Lane's family. she has a twin brother who took after Daddy, and is a doctor, but because she is FBI Daddy think she is blue collar worker and just missed the mark. and he don't appreciate what she does and who she saves.. But Eric, who is always got her back, and always there to help her through anything, listens and helps her along the way..
Also each and every one of our other TP characters from the start, we are brought up to speed with what is going on with them.. I love it when a author keeps us updated in the series.. WE learn some things about who we always wondered about..like out sexy Realtor who is always looking at every man.. Not saying.. gotta read about her.. It's good.. I so enjoyed this book, planning on buying the book and reading this time.. The Thunder Point Series has been enjoyable from day one.. It never disappoints and can't wait for the next one to arrive. Who doesn't want to live in Thunder Point.. where everyone is welcomed and everyone;s problems are as big as our own.... It just goes to show you how we can deal with them and how everything is approached in different ways.. Give you room to think.. . Again, the book is worth what ever you have to do to enjoy it. And oh by the way.. Some great , great Hot Bedroom scenes in this one.. Reminds me of the Cooper and Sara when they met.. And it's Hot.. I will say that.. .

Not the romance I was expecting
Any additional comments?
Expecting a normal romance, this was more like a story of a country town and the individuals within - some of which included romantic sidelines. For me, there was too much 'daily life' and too little romance. It seemed to drag as a result and I ended up listening just to get the tale over with. Key dislike of main male character - your love of your life is away with family issues for 2 weeks and you are already not coping. Get a grip - think of all the military families who have to cope with absences of 6 months and still maintain great loving relationships with their partners.

Robyn Carr Captures us in Thunder Point again!
What did you love best about The Chance?
The dual story line of Laine trying to prove herself to her father and find her new place in life and love. Robyn Carr Really wrote Laine's story with humor as well as touching poignancey which I truly enjoyed.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Chance?
Possible when Laine's father showed up at her door.
Which character – as performed by Therese Plummer – was your favorite?
It's hard to pick Just one. Eric or Laine. I really Like Al too.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Towards the end when Laine began to cry at the computer in Boston and her sister in law found her like that. She felt the situation was so hopeless. I was indeed very moved, to tears in fact.
Any additional comments?
I do recommend this book for romance readers but it is also a good book about a town, and overcoming family at odds, and interpersonal issues. The romance while there is just one of the plots not the overwhelming plot which is a nice.

Would you listen to The Chance again? Why?
Yes because it is so well written. From the way this installment is written to it's end, it makes a clear assessment of falling in love, into the initial stages of Alsheimers. In 2000 my mother began to display the same symptons as the doctor, so I knew exactly what they were going through.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Eric because he had overcome so many hurdles and would always be a decent working guy.
Have you listened to any of Therese Plummer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have listened to many of Therese Plummer's other performances, and as usual, they are always a treat
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, but I had to cut it to two sittings.

Fell in love with love
Would you listen to The Chance again? Why?
without a doubt
What did you like best about this story?
the trust factors between men and women is addressed and shows that it can be overcome but shows the real fear that both men and women can have regarding commitment
Which scene was your favorite?
Eric surprised Lane out on the deck when he arrived early and she had been snuggled up on the chaise reading and he got in there with her behind her just warmed my heart, just sounded so natural and not a forced scene.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Walls were meant to be broken

Entertaining story
Having listed to the first three books in the Thunder Point series, Robyn Carr has the ability to make you feel that you are among friends in each book. Its always nice to if briefly catch up on the characters from the former books.
I enjoyed The Chance with the main characters Laine, who we met in the last book & Eric too. We meet the surly teenager Justin who is struggling hard to keep his family together. Ray Ann has her own little side story.
Looking forward to more from Thunder Point.

love this series
I'm loving this series just as much as I loved the virgin river series. 😍
