Publisher's Summary

Returning to town after a weekend on their ranch in Montana, James and Connor Andderson learn firsthand that the dead are coming back to life. As the nation succumbs to an outbreak unlike anything ever seen, the brothers must gather their supplies and set out on a road trip to save their parents from a fate worse than death itself. Their naïve optimism quickly fades, and the choices they confront will leave them scarred for life.

Meanwhile, Emmett Wolfe, along with his daughter and ex-wife, leave Texas bound for a safe haven in Alaska. Along the way, they rescue a mysterious young woman from a shopping mall.

Tank finds himself amidst a group of survivors heading north, but their convoy is stopped dead in its tracks when they're ambushed by a gang of ruthless killers. Escaping the attack, Tank and two others are hunted through Wyoming by the bloodthirsty Reclaimers.

As the virus spreads across America, the remaining survivors must band together to fight not only the walking dead, but the living as well. Their journey to the Alaskan wilderness is met with constant hardship, betrayal, and death. But as the world crumbles around them, they will come to realize they cannot lose what makes them human.

Christian book with a couple Zombies in it..

This is not a Zombie book! This a Christian story with a few Zombies... nothing wrong with that but lets make it clear what you are getting into.

Very Religious right out of the gate

Way to focused around god and faith for my taste in apocalyptic fiction. Author really pours it on right from the get go.

"These books sucked." James said.

"Yup." Said Conner. "Yup." Said Tank.
"Said" repeated so many times I wanted to scream!

I really wanted to like this but just couldn't

The book has great potential but its just so cliche I couldn't finish it. The main characters have almost every item they could possibly want to survive a zombie outbreak and the few items they don't have they find shortly after. The first few hours read like a wish list of specific gear. I didn't overly mind the divine intervention but the unrealistic timeline of the fall of civilization made it unbearable. Four days into the outbreak they are captured by a priest who is sacrificing people to zombies to save his 'flock', seriously on fourth day after an outbreak? Something similar happens on day 6. It just doesn't make any sense and I couldn't keep listening.

cheesy but one of the greats

I've never written review until now. when I picked this up it hadn't had any so my expectations were low. But I can say this is one of the best books I have ever read. The book really hit home for me if you like zombies cheesy 80 style dialogue video games and outdoors this book is an absolute must

Disappointing

Think King James Bible meets The Walking Dead. The Narration was great. The story had the potential to be a great story but bounced between zombies and the characters struggle in their religious belief. It was a endless circle of religious doubt and contemplation. To the author... a little goes a long way a lot becomes preaching. Preaching is fine but pick the correct genre.

great a ton a d you might just get saved

what a great series, a ton, suspense, Christian values, not at the expense of a great story. Download the book and have fun. You won't regret it and will have trouble putting it down.

said said said said....

The story line was great, the narrator was also great. My hang up was the inability to find alternative words to "said" when characters were having conversational dialogue. Tank said, James said, Conner said, Tank said, Emit Said.... it got too much and I found myself wanting to skip chunks. I'm no writer but even my illiterate ass can come up with alternate choices, retorted, responded, opined, remarked, argued, replied. Just saying.

good but sometimes lengthy

it is good but the inner monologues are lengthy and repetitive. I also did not like the religious angel, it was sometimes a bit much.

Excellent story

Very good story, well written & narrated.

Some edge of the seat moments, but also a mix of predictable ones too.
Some good laugh out loud moments in there too.
Definitely worth a listen if you like zombie apocalypse/end of the world type stories.

One for the religious gun nuts...

I enjoyed the story myself.
It would have scored higher if it lost the religious aspect the author felt to include. I also don't understand the need to describe guns in such detail from the walnut stock to the sixteen-inch barrel and detail of the ammunition they were carrying. I guess some people like that. The kind of people who walk into shopping malls and schools with automatic weapons..
It was OK but I have listened to better audiobooks..

I have laughed and cried listening to this series

I have laughed and cried listening to this series and story that would make a movie or three in this world few things are set in life and you are your own personal experience as we are all different. I hope you may discover the meaning of this series as it has touched my soul within this pandemic. Survival of any kind should be celebrated and the plot and twists keep you fixed on a path your forced into. I loved and lived the moments and the music play lost is brilliant.
