Very useful!

So, I'm the kind of person that thinks she's organizing everything the right way all the time. Well, I guess not .. haha. This book has taught me a lot of new ways to declutter and get that minimalistic lifestyle going. In the beginning I thought that 'minimalism' and 'decluttering' were buzzwords and nothing more, but as I listen more and more to this book and implement the strategies in my daily life, I realized it really gives me peace of mind actually.

I love the easy to use examples in these books and the fact the author literally talked about every single topic, from decluttering your night stand to social media and your workspace. Some of the items I've never even thought of as a place or an item to declutter.

Narration is done well by the three different narrators, enjoyed all of their voices.

Tackles all aspects of decluttering

Ive struggled with being messy a long time, I will sporadically tidy and then within a few days the house would look like a bomb had just hit it and i'd have to start all over again. It took up so much of my time, I was constantly loosing things and I just didnt enjoy being in my house when it was a mess as it felt like a childish way to live. Anyway this books great, it tackles the thought patterns behind why you are messy and offers really practical advice about how to de clutter and also stay clutter free. Ive put it into practice and cleared 20 bin bags within a week and so far ive managed to stay organised and I now love being in my house again and have loads more free time to do the things I enjoy!

Lots of excellent ideas

This is a great value - 3 books in one. Art of Decluttering and Organizing, the Decluttering Your Life Workbook & the Digital Decluttering Workbook are all included in this one audiobook. There is some repetition between the books. This does not detract from listening, in fact it may help reinforce those spefici ideas. . Thanks for making the steps easy to follow and the hints to make decluttering easier.

The narration by all three narrators is excellent. THis book is easy an easy listen thanks to the narrators.

Keep a piece of paper nearby to jot down some ideas.

Way better than expected!

I’m interested in minimalism which is why I requested this book (which was given to me at no cost to me in exchange for an unbiased review), but I didn’t realize how many bad habits I had related to organization externally and internally. This helped me see my patterns for what they were but did so without guilt. And the best part is, it gave me practical and doable ways to improve. Do recommend!

Great Value with the Three Books

This is one of those books where you have so many pearls that it's about getting what you need out of it. I loved that the author was able to be so transparent about the way clutter affected him and his family and what he did to make his life better. The first book is a lot about decluttering the house, but my favorite was the second book and decluttering the mind. No matter what the clutter issues you have, this book will have something for you.

Play the audiobook while cleaning 2 stay motivated

I’m glad I chose to get this as an audiobook instead of physical copy. I usually read ebooks. Listening to this as I am doing chores around the house makes me motivated. I started decluttering right away while listening, but I wasn’t going to start the process til the next day. The author describes the different types of messy houses, and encourages you to examine the reason— is it because you’re too busy and avoiding it or you’re a full on hoarder? He also explains that hoarding and keeping a messy house stems from trauma, which I totally agree with. This book is about changing your lifestyle and habits so it’s easy to become a clean person. Not just a quick fix. With this book, it’ll become easier to end this lifelong struggle if you actually follow the directions. Anytime I clean from now on, I will try to listen to this audiobook in the background. Highly recommended for anyone who has struggled with clutter, having too much stuff, and who has trouble throwing things away that you no longer need or use.

Mixed feelings

I have mixed feelings about these books and settled on 3 stars for the following reasons:

The author talks a lot about hoarders and how he grew up living with a significant hoarder. Being a hoarder and growing up with one are two very different experiences. The authors advice to hoarders and everyone else is to 'just do it'. Take 30 mins etc and just get on with it. This is an issue as most serious hoarders become hoarders due to psychological, emotional trauma which causes their attachment to the various items. Many of them have to go through therapy to manage their hoarding, thus this just do it method isn't going to work for them. Telling a hoarder to just get on with it will not have the desired affect, it is likely to cause more resistance.

Also it is very clear that the author is a highly motivated, organised, detailed person, and according to his methods, to achieve the level of decluttering/minimalism, you would have to have that mindset too. I agree with some of what the author advises and I have found a few aspects helpful, but some of these methods are very full on. I feel you already have to be a skilled organiser & have a level of dedication to put these methods into practice. A lot of the authors advice, when going through examples ends with "....and organise". If you are a person who is not good at organising already, these books wouldn't work for you because you wouldn't know what "organise" looks like. The author repeatedly says you have to be brutal when throwing stuff out, but I disagree with that, especially when it comes to throwing out family photos, which all have to be scanned, digitally stored, and backed up once or twice more thereafter so you won't lose them. I can understand if you only have a few photo's, but if you have loads it will be a long slog to get that done. For me it would be simpler to throw something else out & find a dedicated space in my home or put the photo's in a bank safe deposit box, rather than go through all that trouble.

You really need to do some work to filter out what aspects of these books you want to focus on and realistically can perform and on a continuous basis. I feel it is near impossible for everyone to be able to tackle all of the points of decluttering (home, work and relationships/family) the author is suggesting. I would probably rename these books in line with how to be the most "efficient" in your life, Decluttering your home is one thing, going through all the other hoops is a lot, but I do recognise the method in the madness.

The narrator did a good job across all the books.

I would not recommend these books to serious hoarders, I think it would be overwhelming for them. I would recommend these books to people who have an interest in becoming the most efficient they can be in their lives and are willing to take all the steps to achieve that. Generally I thought the author gave some good advice, especially with regards to time management in various aspects, but these books won't be everyone's cup of tea.

I was given this book for free of my own choosing and voluntarily left this review.
