Story
Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert of Green Gables had no intention of adopting the talkative, mischievous, red-headed girl the orphanage in Nova Scotia sent by mistake. What they wanted was a sturdy, sensible boy to help with the chores. Instead, they got 11-year-old Anne Shirley, whose capacity for adventure was only matched by her bright spirit and love of life. Still, there was something about the little girl that gave them second thoughts. She was keen of wit with a scintillating effervescence that was purely captivating. Just perhaps....

Story
I didn’t ask for any of this. I didn’t ask to be some kind of hero. But when your whole life gets swept up by a tornado - taking you with it - you have no choice but to go along, you know? Sure, I’ve read the books. I’ve seen the movies. I know the song about the rainbow and the happy little bluebirds. But I never expected Oz to look like this. To be a place where Good Witches can’t be trusted, Wicked Witches may just be the good guys, and winged monkeys can be executed for acts of rebellion.

Story
When Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm published their Children's and Household Tales in 1812, followed by a second volume in 1815, they had no idea that such stories as "Rapunzel", "Hansel and Gretel", and "Cinderella" would become the most celebrated in the world. Yet few people today are familiar with the majority of tales from the two early volumes, since in the next four decades the Grimms would publish six other editions, each extensively revised in content and style.

Story
Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King's Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert's name. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse - unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances....

Any additional comments?
The Complete Wizard of Oz is missing information on which stories and chapters are in which parts. I took the time to listen to and write them down for others to reference. I am going to add this to my feedback but it would be best if this was added to the audio books. Please excuse any mistakes. I have listed the stories contained in each part and their audio chapters. A hint is to look at the chapters lasting less than a minute. These contain the title and introductions to new stories. Part 1 The Wonderful Wizard of Oz audio ch 1-26. The Marvelous Land of Oz audio ch 27-40. Part 2 The Marvelous Land of Oz continued audio ch 1-14. The Woggle Bug Book audio chapters 15-17. Ozma of Oz ch 18-end. Poorly edited, but a very good price.
I am not yet finished with this and will update it once I have completed all of the stories, but I want to leave a review of my early impressions.
The reader is consistent and fairly accurate, if a bit low energy. If it were edited properly, I'd give the performance a solid 3-4 stars.
Unfortunately, the editing leaves a lot to be desired. In the first 2 books there are multiple instances where the reader made a mistake and re-read a section but the error was not cut out of the recording. The first couple of times I thought it was a problem with chapter chunking, but there have been several which are clear cases of simple bad editing.
Additionally there is a problem of finding beginning and ends of books. The easiest way to locate them is to find chapters with lengths under 20 seconds. But, if you're looking for a specific book you have to guess which part it's in (there are 10, I'll put a list at the end for reference, which I found in another review and reformatted here).
Calling this 22 "books" is misleading, as many of these are actually short works by Baum. But, some of these I've never seen in audio format before, so it's nice to include them. There are really more like 15 books here.
I would like to see this be rereleased with better editing, but I can't really complain about 91 hours of audio with minor problems for the price of one credit :-)
One last little complaint: The cover photo. The slippers are silver in the books. Not ruby.

Realistic reading, flubs and all.
Good narration but there were numerous points where the narrator repeated a word or phrase that I am surprised the sound editing didn't remove for the final product.

6-month long enjoyment
My 8-year old daughter and myself have been enjoying these stories for 6 to 8 months during our road trips. Narration is excellent, but there are editing mistakes throughout, where the same sentences are repeated, as other reviewers have noticed.
The collection is lacking the table of contents, so here it is complete with all chapters listed. You may notice that it is different from the same posted by other reviewers, but my is 100% correct for the download I received.
Table of Contents
Chapter numbers as they appear in the audio book. These are not the book chapters in the text. (A) denotes major book number in the series (1 to 15), (B) denotes the book number in the collection (1 to 22). Unfortunately the tabulation cannot be preserved in the preview, so (A) is the number after the chapter numbers, and (B) is the last number on the line.

Thumbnails need Titles
At a minimum I wish there were titles such as "part __ of __" on each of the thumbnail images. With 10 downloads for this collection and no chapter titles how are you supposed to figure out where to go next? Pulling up each one to then listen to figure it out is not very reasonable.

Perfect for Traveling
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would recommend this book to friends who enjoy audiobooks. I purchased the entire series for a recent trip to Minnesota because the flight would allow an uninterrupted block of time to really get into the stories.
What other book might you compare The Complete Wizard of Oz Collection to and why?
I would say Alice in Wonderland or Through the Looking Glass would be in the same fantastical realm.
Have you listened to any of Eric Vincent’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have listened to other performances by Eric Vincent and I would say this is one of his better outings. The amount of material is daunting (`85 hours!) and he keeps the story interesting with different character voices.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I've not listened to the entire series yet so I prefer to wait to pick a particular moment.
Any additional comments?
While there have been lots of negative comments about no index, I found the lack of an index a non-issue. I began listening from the beginning and have been happily skipping down the yellow brick road with my new friends!

As a child, I received the first 10 Oz books for Christmas and fell in love with all the wonderful characters.
I have not finished the collection and probably will not. The books are out of order with no rhyme nor reason for it. All I can figure is the person who collected the stories together did it as a job assignment, not because he, or she, wanted to do so.
The reader is easy to listen to even though there are spots where he stumbles over a word and either repeats the word or even the entire sentence. I find this adds to the experience as I remember my mother doing the same while reading to the sibs and me.
It is my hope that some one will reorganize this collection and add book and chapter titles.

The most complete, fascinating journey through OZ
This is the most complete series of the L Frank Baum (and family), The Wonderful Wizard of OZ stories. Besides the reference of this book leading to one of the most watched movies of all times, it was interesting to hear about the full backgrounds of these well-known characters in addition to many, many more that joined in the journies throughout OZ.
This was a fascinating trip of imagination through time to be enjoyed by those of all ages. The special notes and comments from Mr. Baum and family to some of the many letters they received about the characters really personalized the journey for many readers. A wonderful fairytale. The 91 hours of OZ stories kept me busy during my summer and is overall the best deal for any book in my Audible.com library. (Special note: There have been many political symbolisms of the OZ characters over the years and one with an inquiring mind can easily research these theories).

Child at heart
Vincent was superb, the stories were much more interesting than I remembered, and let a child at heart enjoy some old memories.

22 books in 10 files with NO list whatsoever!!
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
It's absolutely ridiculous --- they don't even tell you the names of the 22 books included anywhere! What is worse -- in order to find a book... you have to know to look for it... and then search the 10 downloads for the book you want. (Which I suppose you should psychically divine before scanning the 10 downloads to find it!! VERY UNPROFFESSIONAL, AUDIBLE!! The least you could do is list which stories are in which download!!

Needs Chapter Headings
This is the complete collection of Wizard of Oz stories. It is well narrated and lovely to listen to. The stories become a bit repetitive so I found listening to one at a time with breaks to listen to other books worked for me.
The main downside of this book is that there are no chapter headings or story titles so it is very difficult to find your place if you lose it or know how long each story is. This is particularly a problem because there are 90 hours of listening.

Almost flawless
The narration is excellent 99% of the time and the story is excellent and accessible to adults despite being a children’s book. My only grudge is that once the second book is complete, the Marvelous Land of Oz, the audiobook goes on to play the fourth book, Dorothy and the wizard in oz, instead of the third. This wouldn’t bother me as much if I hadn’t only just learnt this when half way through the fourth book. I don’t even know if the third book is included in this bundle. I hope this gets fixed but somehow I doubt it will

Very good
Would you consider the audio edition of The Complete Wizard of Oz Collection to be better than the print version?
Yes as you can hear each character differently and use your imagination to how they would look.
Who was your favorite character and why?
The tin man because he protects everyone else and repairs them if they need it.
Which character – as performed by Eric Vincent – was your favourite?
jack pumpkinhead. He makes it funny.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The scarecrow and jack pumpkinhead make me laugh :)

Love these books but they aren't in order
They skipped Ozma of Oz, book three, and went straight to book four, Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz.

Brilliant
Always loved these books and was delighted to find them on Audible. Was somewhat disappointed they weren't in order. I got them with a credit, had I paid for them this would have been really annoying. But definitely worth 5 stars. Had several fantastic hours of listening even as a 40 something adult!

Fantastic! Awesome narrator too!
Not only does my 10yr old granddaughter love this audiobook collection better than any other fiction, she has even requested (and received) the printed book collection. She tells me that the books are so amazing that she has chosen to believe in Oz, even though she knows it's not really real.
I have also listened to the entire collection, and agree with my granddaughter that the narrator is absolutely the perfect choice. He gets right into the story and gives all the characters just the right voice.
Gentle and soothing, exciting and imaginative, and way ahead of its time.
100% recommend!

Great – good pace throughout
I initially thought the narrator's unusual accent would bother my kids and me, but its actually great. My 4 and 6 year olds love the story and the pace of narration is just right for a story this long.

Most annoying audible ever!
This was the most annoying and difficult audiobook to get through. The narrator coughs, repeats entire paragraphs, gulps and drinks right by the microphone and at one point you can even hear a mobile phone ringing in the background - beyond frustrating and more than disappointed.
As for the actual books, they may be enlightening and interesting to children and the theory behind the stories is good and each story has an underlying lesson, which I really quite liked. What I didn’t like was the overuse of particular words throughout, the constant ‘was the reply’ became so irritating I was quite literally gritting my teeth every time it was repeated (I’ll need to visit my dentist)
The overall stories are good and would be okay for children to read, but for me, I’m not a fan and in all honesty I wouldn’t recommend this book, even to a child. Simply not my sort of thing I guess
