Story
The Westgate Galleria Mall was once a sprawling, shining monument to American consumerism and suburban growth. Now, it is a crumbling reminder of how both have fallen - an architectural ghost, haunting the outskirts of society. That makes it the perfect filming location for a YouTube channel devoted to the exploration of abandoned places. But the mall isn't as empty as it seems, and the residents have sinister obscene plans for them. Now, with the daylight still hours away, both the hunters and the hunted will fight to stay alive...and desperately try to make it home.

Keene in fine form & Williamson is sublime
If you're a fan of apocalyptic horror in the vein of 28 Days Later, this book will not disappoint. Keene is great at creating fully fleshed out characters that you easily become invested in, which is all the more devastating when they come to a gory end. Chet Williamson, a fine horror scribe in his own right, is stupendous in his narration. Changing cadence and tone to portray characters as varied as a single mom & her son, an older Italian widow & her cat, a black Vietnam vet, a transgender woman and even a serial killer convinced his crimes are protecting the Earth from inter dimensional horrors. A must for Keene fans and a great introduction to those unfamiliar with his works.

I am NOT okay!!!
I loved this book!!
Not gonna lie… it made me shed some tears!
Right at the start I was assaulted by an action packed and gruesome punch to the face. It didn’t stop there… the rest of the story continue with an upper-cut to the gut. Just when I thought “okay, maybe I can make a come back” Brian Keene said “FINISH HER” and that was it…. He finished me with a TKO conclusion.
I’m left here, battered, bruised and broken hearted. I’m not sure how long my recovery process will take…. But, it’ll be a while until I can mend myself together again.
Thank You Brian Keene. May I have another?
PS. I’d like to thank Crossroads Press for providing me with the audiobook. It was KILLER!!

An exhilarating horror filled fight for life
A constant pulse pounding battle for survival against the hordes of crazed uncleansed masses that thrive just outside your comfort zone. Are these naked monsters manifestations of mankind's base instincts infected by dark thoughts and murderous, blind rage? A fantastic tale by Keene, and a perfect narrator in Chet Williamson.

A good listen
I went into this not knowing much about it. All I really knew was that it was loosely inspired by Brian Keene’s former home.
So, I went into this book pretty blind and wasn’t disappointed. Keene gives us a broad range of characters each with their own depth and motivations.
There’s not a complicated storyline, it’s pretty simply about what the characters would do when thrown into the chaos of the events in the story.
Definitely worth checking out.

For readers who like the purge!
What did you like most about The Complex?
A fast paced, exciting and scary story it was filled with emphatic characters. Plenty of action, plenty of horror.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Complex?
I can't tell because it strays into spoiler territory. I liked the horror aspects.
Have you listened to any of Chet Williamson’s other performances? How does this one compare?
This was the first time. He suited the material very well. It was an enjoyable, competent narration.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I listened to it in two days at work. It's short but good.
Any additional comments?
My first Brian Keene experience. He's got game. The book was hardcore, felt like a purge film.

Thrilling carnage
I like to start my reviews by stating that I am a huge fan of horror, particularly graphic horror, and have been for most of my life. Horror books, like horror films, are not always good, and there’s definitely a lot of crap to wade through to find the good stuff. Brian Keene’s novels are normally winners, so not only did I pretty much know what I was in for but I knew that it’d be fun. And fun is what it was; a thrilling roller coaster ride of carnage and mayhem that pretty much didn’t let up. I liked that certain key characters got taken out along the way and… I better not say anything else. We’ll worth your time if you are an enthusiast like myself. Nice work Brian, I’ll be back for more soon.
