Publisher's Summary

It was love at first sight. Not just for Vivian, but for Corbin as well. Their eyes locked across the room, and that was all she wrote. But they didn’t rush things. They wanted to do it right. After all, they would spend the rest of their lives together.

The love of each other’s life. Soul mates. He was the intense and fiercely protective soldier, and she was his doting and faithful lover.

They found their happily ever after. This was their story…until it wasn’t.

Ten years after Corbin divorced Vivian, after her confession while he was deployed, he still hasn’t spoken to the girl who brought him to life only to stab him in the heart, sending him into an even darker state than where he was before he met her.

Ten years, he’s been watching her from afar, keeping tabs. After an honorable discharge from the Army, he’s now part of a group of mercenaries who carry out justice. Criminals who hide behind their fancy lawyers and power - they take care of them and make it all look like karma. And with intel from their founder, Dr. Walker, a therapist with a long list of predators whose victims were too scared to turn them in, work is plenty and fulfilling.

Until Vi begins her sessions and Corbin discovers the reality he’s lived the past 10 years was nothing but a lie, when the truth is revealed.

WOW!!!

This book gripped and didn’t let me go… I was with Vi and Corbin all the way to the end… from the lie to the lie revealed… it’s not how I saw it going when chapter 1 opened the way it did…

The story is about Vi (Vivian) an 18 year old who’s not interested in much other than becoming a mom but gets interested in rock climbing… she meets a 20 year old Corbin and sparks fly… can I just say I appreciated that Corbin wasn’t 6’5” giant Adonis secret or open billionaire? It’s nice to read about normal people falling for normal people for a change…

Okay, back to the story… something very tragic happens, the lie, and they’re reunited 10 years later! And well, for my fellow readers/listeners who love smut? You will enjoy this book… it’s spicy, it’s hot. and it's also really sweet… worth a credit? YES! If you don’t have a credit, just go ahead and buy it… you will love it!

I’m guessing there will be a book 2? (No cliffy on this book) I’m thinking someone else’s story… Dr.? Seven? Knight? Whooooooooo? LoL

Enjoy…

I am going to see if this is also available on paperback so I can buy it.

Left Me Conflicted

This was a totally new to me author, but the blurb captured my interest and I decided to give it a go. I have got to say that this book left me seriously conflicted. I didn't hate it and I didn't love it, but I admit that certain aspects really did not set well with me. As someone that enjoys dark romance and BDSM, and super twisty reads, I'm truly surprised at how off-putting I found this book. I did think the writing was solid and I think the story itself had plenty of potential. For me though the details and the characters were kind of the problem. My heart did ache for Vi, but Corbin was a complete wash as far as I was concerned. There is some excellent steam here and I did enjoy that. Dual narration on this book and that is my preference. I found both voices pleasing and I thought they gave well done performances.

Great Read!

I absolutely loved this duet! I was captivated by the characters and the plot. Though I was a teeny bit traumatized (totally personal reasons), I truly enjoyed the books! Also, the narration was en pointe!

Better than I could have imagined!

I have been wanting to read/listen to a book by KD for a long time! The Confession Duet was amazing & my only regret is that it I couldn’t put it down making the time pass to quickly. When will the next one be ready? Hopefully soon. Wonderful writing, wonderful characters, wonderful book.

Corbin & Vivian

*****Spoiler Alert*****

Reviewed through Audible. Dual POV narration. Duet boxset, books 1 & 2 of the Club Alias series. Listed as 12 hours 27 minutes ('Before the Lie' book one is 5 hours 23 minutes long, 'Truth Revealed' book two is 7 hours 3 minutes long, and the credits took up the remaining minute). I listened at speed 1.50 for 8 hours 18 minutes. I'd like to acknowledge that for me the ebooks were 5 stars for book one and 3 stars for book two when I first read them two years ago. I was really excited that they had become an audiobook but my taste in books must've really matured since then because after listening to this audiobook I struggled to give it 2 stars overall. I really do like K D Robichaux though. In book two chapter 19, through her main female character she acknowledges that people will have differing feelings about the story and it's believability. That acknowledgment comes with very good reason because many things are completely beyond the scope of any circumstance I can imagine happening in reality. Before The Lie (book one in this duet) earned a PG/PG-13 rating and could be read as a YA novella. Truth Revealed (book two in this duet) earned an R rating but still has a YA feel. Both narrators read well but Logan McAllister sounds too old for the character he portrays in book one but the age of his voice is accurate for the age of his character in book two. His voice did not fit the character I imagined. Trigger warnings: r@pe; accidental drunken death by aspiration and asphyxiation of a teenage girl; spanking by a therapist; stalking; invasion of privacy, cyber crimes; drug and alcohol abuse; manipulation and intimate BDSM relationship through the stolen identity of a supposed friend; BDSM; flogging; bondage; blindfold; r@pe reenactment; dubious consent; videotaped counseling sessions viewed for personal gain; videotaped sexual encounters monitored; suicide by drug overdose; and murders.

Annoying things about the audiobook that I didn't notice 2 years ago when I read the ebook duet:
▪Vivian is only one or two inches shorter than Corbin but he considers her tiny and small throughout the story instead of what I believe the author meant to be slim or thin.
▪The repetitive use of "baby girl" (56 times in book one/33 times in book two) and "my sweet" (38 times in book two) drove me crazy, it was like nails on a chalkboard. It got so bad I almost DNF multiple times.
▪Each POV repeats the same info/scenes with no real new info gained from the alternate POV. Half of the book wouldn't exist if the double perspective on the same scene was edited out.
▪The completely unbelievable fact that Vivian didn't recognize Corbin in book two. I know it's been 10 years since she's seen or spoken to him but come on, a mask and a long sleeved shirt can't disguise his voice, height, and over all build. Not to mention their connection was so strong they had an instinctive awareness of each other that they both described in book one that she felt in book 2 but seemingly swept aside.
▪Vivian is a new breed of woman who pined for Corbin for a decade but didn't want to know anything about his relationships during their separation. And she thought her r@pe reenactment was private between her and the Dom in the room but she completely got over it when she realized it was videotaped and being monitored. Yeah right.
▪The doctor/therapist thought it was ok to manhandle and spank his client in the middle of a panic attack during a therapy session.... Yeah, that's unacceptable.
▪Listening to the BDSM training in book two made me extremely uncomfortable and felt like a second r@pe of Vivian because she didn't know the true identity of the person training her therefore she couldn't possibly have given him consent.

I really struggled with writing this review and am disappointed that I didn't enjoy this audiobook duet. JP

Interesting writing style!💜

Great storyline although it really surprised me how different books 1 & 2 were. It was almost like 2 different genres but somehow this author really pulled it off.
This sort of twist made this duet one of the most intriguing series I’ve read so far this year.
The narrators performed this book very well. I had a little difficulty with the inconsistency of the volume level but otherwise the narration was fantastic.
This is a duet series with an eventual HEA.

Addictive

If like me you’re busy and stressed juggling Motherhood and work and life. Do yourself a favour and indulge in this audiobook.
It was Bliss.
I stayed awake until 4am to finish it. What a TALENTED Author.
I’ve ordered her other Novels online as this was the only one on audible. No doubt I’d have finished them by Friday!

Shattered and back together

This book might not be for everyone. It uses BDSM as healing and not everyone gets that. Corbin and Vi have a very instalove vibe and while there's a massive time jump between parts one and two of this Duet, it makes sense. Personally I would have loved to see more of Corbin and Vi as an actual married couple. But seeing their younger selves come together to get torn apart, hurt. It was a delight to see how they healed. Like I said, this might not be for everyone, but I so enjoyed this and the audio was everything!

Second Chance Romance

This is my first KD Robichaux book but I'm definitely looking forward to listening to more books in this series. Before the Lie was a sweet love story between Corbin and Vi. The characters were lovable, and I enjoyed watching their relationship grow and take shape until we got to the lie. Truth Revealed takes place 10 years later. This seemed like a whole new story. Both Corbin and Vi have changed and grown into different people. While I liked book 1, I actually liked book 2 better because I got to take a ride on the wild side. The storyline was fun and held my interest from beginning to end. I hope more Club Alias books come to audio soon. Ada Sinclair and Logan McAllister both did an excellent job bringing this story to life.
